Good simple honest review. I've tried GuitarTricks but found their lesson series unbelievably boring. The nice thing with Fender Play is they get you started on songs that are familiar. Perhaps one day ill pay for Guitar Tricks. But for now and at my playing abilities, I find Fender Play much more engaging and easier to follow along. Also I agree with how the videos are nice and short. They are not trying to shove the entire history and every fact about a guitar down your throat at once. They give you what you need at the time to just start playing.

Thanks for watching and commenting, Jake! I've reviewed a bunch of online guitar lessons, and they have their own approach to teaching. I think it really comes down to what works best for you. Either way, I'm happy that you found something that you like. Please keep me posted on your progress!

Short sweet and to the point that's what I like in a review video you covered all the bases and probably answered a lot of the question someone was want to ask and looking into this course I have watched other videos about Fender play and they're basically the same but they go on about certain things that are not necessary I would have to say if someone else was looking into Fender play I would probably direct them to this video or send them your link first thank you so much have a blessed day

The coolest thing about play is it has a tone feature that uses Bluetooth to talk to your amp(I have the mustang gtx) to set the amp to the correct settings for the song u are learning. Cool a!

What do you consider basics? And what kind of player would you consider an intermediate player? I’m not sure where I fit in.

I thoroughly dislike anything that is subscription or contract based. I just won't do it any more. A legit lesson program should be in person or otherwise on DVD or one time download for a single price. Then you have it forever, can watch at any time you like, don't have to have internet access to get to it and so on. Any more, everything is subscription and streaming which I refuse to do for something like learning guitar. I swear if I ever get good enough to give lessons they will be FREE online in a structured program. No links to my website that charges for content, no 'download my free ebook' while forcing people to reveal their email address, no spamming and no teaser videos luring people to pay for a real and complete lesson. Music should be learned and taught free because it is one of the things we all share. Profiting from teaching music lessons that are not IN PERSON is pretty lame if you ask me.
There is a certain program pushed hard here on YT (I won't mention the name but it is a three letter acronym) that lures you to their website with the promise of a great PDF booklet to get you started. All you have to do is give them your email address. And then the spam begins...and I mean some serious SPAM. Every day and sometimes twice a day...forever. Makes me sick. I filtered that stuff right to the trash.
