Derby Cares Video | Child Mental Health | Early Intervention
Derby Cares is a CSR campaign to help us to support the 51% of children in the city who are currently unable to access much needed mental health support, if we can offer access early, we can make a difference and, ultimately save lives.
Businesses can get involved in lots of different ways, they can sponsor a child, sponsor a session or event, fundraise, donate a percentage of sales from a product, or purchase training to support employee mental health in their organisation.
Businesses of any size can get involved.
Please visit our Derby Cares website page for more information and get in touch!

That little 'internal alarm' goes off when we need to run (flight), stay still (freeze), or fight; these are sometimes known as the 3 F's. We can also go into other modes in these situations such as 'submit' or 'flop'. This internal alarm is great, but just like a smoke alarm, sometime...

AFFIRMATIONS FOR CHILDREN! EMOTIONAL WELLBEING SUPPORT FOR CHILDREN'S MENTAL HEALTH.
มุมมอง 1.7K2 ปีที่แล้ว
Affirmations, what even are they? We sometimes struggle to know ourselves, maybe we don't use affirmations so find it really difficult to explain them to our child. Affirmations shouldn't be used as a way of suppressing or bottling up difficult emotions that we feel, they should be used proactively and to help lift us up once we have moved through the difficult feelings. They can also help us t...

I think as long as the space is right they can be useful, it really depends on the stage of the child, we have used them with primary school aged children with success 👍🌈

Just watched your response to that program - I only just watched it. My son was diagnosed 4 years ago with autism. Over the last 2 years his anxieties and sensory issues have become so extreme. He doesn't go to school and rarely leaves the house. Camhs feel the only option is to admit him to a unit. He absolutely doesn't need that, especially after watching thst program - he has a 'said so' voice in his head but he's not self harming, he doesn't want to kill anyone. He's just a very anxious boy who is so scared of losing anymore in his life. There are therapies he can have at home and that's what I'm fighting for.

I’m so sorry that you’ve both had to go through this...it’s heartbreaking. How is your son now? It’s a story we hear so often and the support needed is so hard to get. Sending you love ❤️

I’m 12 and I’ve suffered from bullying and I also self harm but I’ve also tried to commit suicide a couple of times and I’m always suicidal I saw the documentary and it’s so true I had been on the waiting list for the last 2 years until a few months ago when I started getting counselling and as a kid I’ve realised how many other kids have suffered at my school nearly every girl and boy in my year have either had tried to self harm or kill themselves and everything you’ve said is so true you’re a really good TH-camr ❤️

I second you on that I have ASD and anxiety / depression as a 34 year old guy who has suffered bullying throughout my life and recently was in a dark place self harm / thoughts of not wanting to be here. Now with the right support of counselling and cbt i'm a bit more stable

1903chrisholden I’m so sorry that you’ve struggled with your health and that you live in a world that doesn’t support neuro diversity. You must of worked really hard to get to the place you are now - thank you for the comment 🌈
