@@indignow Thanks so much and good luck. I passed the C1 in Spanish so we’re kind of a mirror image! What really helped me was reading lots and listening to educated content like TED talks. My weakest skill was writing as, despite speaking Spanish for many years, I never wrote it. Luckily, I’m a good writer in English (and taught writing daily for many years) so I was able to transfer those skills. I’m going to make a video with exam tips but a one that helped me was identifying my writing weaknesses e.g. gender agreement, tildes etc and then I’d do several edits but only focus on one thing at a time e.g. an edit for gender, an edit for tildes and then a general edit. I used to teach children to do this and it helped them (the ones who listened anyway!). Good luck and let me know how you get on. 😀

Yes - you can use it that way but I think it sounds better with the object ‘me’ e.g, these trousers are too tight and pinch me. I’m not sure I would say this but I’ve definitely heard native speakers say it. I think I might just say ‘they are too tight’ for clothes and ‘too small’ for shoes.

Thanks for commenting. Yes ‘to put something effect’ is a formal way of saying ‘to implement or introduce something’. If you wish to depersonalise it, you can say ‘to come into effect’ e.g. the new law came into effect last year. 😀

Thanks as always for your support 😀 it depends but the whole process is around an hour usually - the writing is quick but the proofreading and editing takes longer. I wouldn’t compare my process to that of an exam however. I allow myself the luxury of time. 🕰️

Great suggestion! To be honest, I have tried some videos about phrasal verbs etc but they never do as well as my essay videos. Maybe I’ll try some of those other ideas you mention though. Thanks for your encouragement 😀

I learn vocabulary (I’m C1 in Spanish) by reading lots and underlining key words. I then reread and see if I remember. Some people use flash cards but I never really have - they may work for you. Perhaps you could rewatch the videos each month? I find repetition and revisiting material to be the most effective way to learn vocab.

I found reading really helped build my vocab in Spanish and I was able to pass the C1 exam. Find a book on a topic you’re interested in - I found non-fiction useful. Books like ‘Atomic Habits’, for example. I also love Agatha Christie in English so I read her in Spanish and, because the language is old-fashioned, I am exposed to formal vocab and syntax. You could also listen to Ted Talks - these have educated vocab on current topics. In addition, there’s Audible - it’s a company that has audiobooks so you could listen to one of the books you’re reading. After reading for a while, I could hear myself automatically using more complex vocab when talking to my Spanish teacher. I hadn’t tried to learn the words by heart, rather they just came out naturally. Good luck - you can do it.

@englishlearningexpert3595 all right, I will be practicing c1 writing to improve my b2 writing skills. One extra question, reading books written by authors of the Victorian era such as Charles Dickens can make my English levele better, or it is an old-fashioned literature using words for instance like "occurance" instead of occurrence will be not too helpful?

@@vi3087 That's a great question. I think if you're a B2 level (or aiming for that), then I'd stick to modern writers. However, if you want to achieve a C1 level then they can be great. I love Sherlock Holmes and also Agatha Christie (she's old-fashioned but not Victorian) and I've read the in Spanish to build my vocal. To be honest, whatever works for you. Just be aware that some words may rare.
