Looks great, but i would not call it Manga, I think it is a Comic or a Graphic Novel. The style is not Manga!
Fair enough but it does say manga on the cover.
The bleep at the end got me
It’s my favorite album right now, every song feels really special and like I’m experiencing music for the first time again!
I’m sick rn I got pharyngitis
Feel better
Reading books is underrated
I think about this film and the way the sunlight filters through the branches of trees, often.
Man, seriously thank you so much for reading, and for the kind words
I clicked on this video because of the thumbnail
That’s what I like to hear
Diary of a wimpy kid?
How did you know
I listened to the album while studying to a major exam I previously failed and after i had a disagreement with my best friend. I know absolutely nothing about music so I can only talk about how it made me feel. My favorite songs were Cancer of the Skull and The Rolling Stones. This album really helped me work through some bad feelings i had today in a very calming way even tho some songs were rather chaotic they still made me feel understood in some way. I agree that it is very modern Lou Reed and I really love these somber almost country songs. This album was a great recommendation! I like a lot of book where the main characters have very realistic inner monologes with all the good, bad and insecure thoughts one has in their day to day life and this album gave me the exact same feeling: understood to the core of my being.
That made my day that you listened to it! I totally agree that it’s a realistic inner monologue. It’s all over the place but that’s how it is in my head so I connected with it in that way too.
@vellichor_ventures I'm really glad you took the effort to make a video about it because I really needed music like this in my life. C:
Thanks for the recommendations and bumping Babel up towards the top of my list. I think you should give Brendan Slocumb's books a look. I think you'd like them. I read his first book, "Violin Conspiracy" which was a great coming of age kind of tale that dealt with music, race, and class in a unique way. I'm in the middle of "Symphony of Secrets" and wow it's fantastic. Also a story deeply rooted in music and people who don't have a voice. I'm looking forward to his new novel coming out this year.
I’ll add him to my list!
@@vellichor_ventures I finished it a couple nights ago. I wouldn't be surprised if at the end of the year I put "Symphony of Secrets" as one of the best books I read in 2025. It was such a page turner that was hard to put down.
The book guys theme goes so hard even tho its so simple
Are you talking about the song at the end? That’s my band!
i was also given an arc of this and i just finished it last night. i like the conversation about marriage, where is it really needed anymore for people to have their own family or is it just a tool for practicality? if it's just for practicality, then maybe marrying your best friend of the same sex is much more practical and convenient than marrying someone who's a stranger. it really makes me think. the ending fucked me up fr! great video btw, you earned a new subscriber!
Thank you! I love her writing. I think this book hits even harder now than when it first released in Japan.
You read?
Yes I do sexually active toyota corolla.
Your channel is always a good time
Thank you!
That is what happens when you steal from Spain!
Happy New Year. Found the channel looking for Murakami book reviews, the recent Murata book review was interesting too. I liked The Dandelion Dynasty. The Way of Kings is my favourite Stormlight book. Just finished The City and its Uncertain Walls today and surprisingly liked it a lot (Murakami tends to be hit or miss, hence the surprise). Best wishes and Happy reading!
Thanks and you too!
That office looks really cozy!
I love my little space! I’m moving soon so it will look different in a few months but I’m excited to make the new space cozy, too.
Absolutely loved Babel! Such a lesson in linguistics and anti-colonialism! I'm going to start with The Way of Kings. I'm a little scared but I will trust the process, lol. Haruki Murakami has a book called Strange Library that I'm interested in. Have you read it? If you like Alien, you should read The Scourge Between Stars by Ness Brown... It's very alien-esque! Stellar video, definitely looking forward to more!
Ooh! Never heard of it, adding to my list. The Strange Library is a novella and it is pretty solid! I’ve only read it once but I remember it being good. It mostly just looks nice on my bookshelf. Thanks for watching!
Just you, just you.
I just realised that I imagine Kaladin and Sam Vimes from Pratchetts books looking the same way. 😂 I wonder why? It must be the mopey feeling of both of them and the stubborness. None of them look like an Emo boy in my head though... 😂
I wonder if The Stormlight Archives is going to be treated in the same way as The Wheel of Times when it's finished? When people just take one look an say: -No way I'm comitting to all that amount of reading!
Okie ^^
Very good narrative style
By "that one year" did you mean Bob Dylan lol.
I just finished Earthlings and while I’m still a bit in shock from what I just read I’m interested to take a look at what else Sayaka Murata has written.
I read Convenience Store Woman and Earthlings and I really enjoyed those. Well, I might just pick Life Ceremony while we wait for Vanishing World english release. But first I have to finish my current read 'Lost Illusions' by Balzac. I'm having a blast!
Murata is one of my favorite japanese authors. Earthlings is one of my favorite books. I pretty particularly read only dark or dissonant kinda stuff (Malazan and Second Apocalypse are my favorite fantasy series), and Earthlings is legit the darkest standalone Ive read out of hundreds. So its definitely one of the craziest things you can read. The exploration of the psychology really brought it to another level. Super pumped for this one!
sounds good ill def check it out, excited for the wrap up video!
Convenience store woman was pretty good in my opinion, earthlings is in a league above it if you ask me. It's one of my very favorite books, I'm excited to read this one.
Earthlings has stuck with me way more. I think Convenience Store Woman is an easier entry point but Earthlings hits a lot harder.
The existential dread I get when I think that I'll surely die before reading everything I want in life .... 😅
I said the same thing after finishing
Me during The Wars of Light and Shadow

Homie is TORCHING books on his TBR at the end of 2024. If you’re a novel that this man started and then put down earlier in the year and you thought you were safe, wake the fuck up. He’s the Jason Statham of slow burn Japanese literature, the Liam Neeson of fatass 800-plus page fantasy door-stoppers. This beast is on vacation and he doesn’t have the funds to do anything extravagant because he’s a good friend and family man who spent his whole paycheck on thoughtful Christmas gifts for everyone he loves. There’s nothing left for him to do but sit in a comfy chair and eye-fuck words by the thousands. I’d tell you to pray if I thought there was a chance in hell God could save you.
thank you for omitting spoilrs
No problem. When I do have spoilers I try to use timestamps so you can skip.
If ur gonna read more in the cosmere, consider reading Warbreaker before Words of Radiance. It adds to the backstories of several characters in WoR and makes the finale much more unexpected.
Reading Warbreaker right now!
dont stop bridge 4 bridge 4
I'm not a huge Sanderson fan but Words of Radiance was exceptional.
Do iiiit
You had me at dandelion, your glasses, and hair. I'm convinced I'm gunna have to check this series out. 💐🧁 Thank you.
So glad you liked the book. WOR is amazing. Warbreaker is great. I look forward to the review. Subscribed!
Stormlight is one of my all time favorites, and I'm a massive fantasy nerd. I'm about 25% of the way through Wind and Truth and loving it so far. Way of Kings is still my favorite of them though, in fact my first and only tattoo is on my forearm and is simply "For the bridgemen". I wont spoil it for people that haven't read it yet, but that scene gives me chills every time I read it.
Awesome! So glad you've discovered the gloriousness that is The Stormlight Archive! You should take your lady friend out to a very nice dinner as a way to say "thank you!" The more you read these books -- and discover the inter-connectivity to the rest of the Cosmere -- the more you will yearn to re-read the stories at deeper levels. In addition to the Cosmere, I really love how each of the main characters are so complex, and each experiences their own internal conflictions. For example, in The Way of Kings, Kaladin is a soldier that is very adept at killing, but he was raised as a doctor's son and training to be a doctor himself, so he is also very good at healing people. In other words, he wants to heal people, but find that he often times must kill, which is very conflicting for him. Speaking of the main characters, here are the main characters in each book. I won't spoil it for your, but you'll soon discover that each book also has a main Order of the Knights Radiant... 1- The Way of Kings -- Kaladin 2- Words of Radiance -- Shallan 3- Oathbringer -- Dalinar 4- Rhythm of War -- Venli 5- Wind and Truth -- Szeth Happy reading, future Worldhopper!!
Honestly, there's no need for a film adaptation. The books are excellent without needing the Peter Jackson treatment. Let a piece of work stand on its own for what it is rather than trying to shoehorn it into a medium it was never intended to be. Stormlight in general is far too large to put on screen unless you want an entirely new cosmere cinematic universe ala marvel. The books are too long, too dense, to be trimmed and cut apart by a screen writer. We'd end up with a typical action fantasy with no character depth and absolutely no nuance.
Epilogue of Well of Ascension was one of the most brutal plot twists I've ever seen ngl, devastating and mindblowing. Did you finish Hero of Ages?
I did! I think it was my least favorite of the three honestly.
Man, if you don't enjoy discussions of mental health and flashbacks, this series might get tedious at times. The entire premise of the series is that broken, traumatized people CAN work through their trauma and mental health to overcome. WoK is considered Kaladin's book because most of the flashbacks and discussion of mental health revolve around him. That will shift to Shallan in the next book, followed by Dalinar in the 3rd, and so on. I guess my point is, brace yourself lol. There's more depression simulations coming😅
