    If you feed anyone once they will come back. If you don't feed them again when they come back for seconds, and they will, they will then attempt to take what you have.

    Wrong. I don't know who started the idea that home canned foods need to be thrown away within a year. I grew up on home canned food, and we stocked it deep. Routinely eating home canned green beans, tomatoes, etc., for two or three years after canning. I do the same now. So far, I have 28 quarts of green beans this year put up, and thank goodness, because with crazy weather, next year may not be so good. Two years ago, it rained so much that I only put up five quarts. And store-bought food?? I've opened several cans of Campbell's soup, and one can of Chef Boyardee ravioli that were just a few weeks over the date, and one can had black bubbles, the others just were 'old' tasting and a brownish color. I guess my kitchen is cleaner than a commercial one, and my vegetables are taken right from my garden and canned up. No travelling around in the heat in a big truck to a factory.

      Home canned foods are good for longer then a year. I can all of my garden veggies and they do last a long time. In the video it says “ there are many factors to make it last longer. Storing in a cool dark area out of sunlight it will last over 5 years.” I never said it expires and you need to throw it out in a year.

I also have a grill to cook my food with.. I also have been homeless more times than I can count ..and you don't have any utilities when you're that way.. as far as getting clean.. go out to the barrel with a plastic milk jug.. bring it inside put it inside of a large kettle and put it on the stove then go into the bathroom..

    I can't see forming a community until after a SHTF situation. I do NOT advertise that we are preparing. Most of our neighbours are good people but they do not see what is really happening. They are too busy travelling and going on cruises. The rest of my family is just as clueless. I have tried to nudge them along without giving away information about what we are doing. It is a frustrating waste of time which makes angry and sad. The only family members who are clued in live a 7 hour drive from us through major cities. I know that there other people like me who would like to find like-minded preppers but don't have a way to do it without putting ourselves in the cross-hairs.

    We live in hurricane country. It seems now that the power grid is not nearly as resilient as it used to be. When it goes out, it’s out for hours or days. A good generator with plenty of fuel is a hurricane season must out our way. I have a gas powered one and keep 3 days worth of fuel on hand at any one time. I use fuel stabilizer and rotate out the old gas to my truck, replenishing the jerrycan with fresh gas and stabilizer. One trick I learned is to have some fuel in smaller, lighter cans (5-10 litre) to make refilling the generator easier for those family members who have difficulty lifting a large can. Also, remember to leave the actual generator full and to test run it from time to time, I do it monthly. Cash on hand is another good idea, but make sure you have plenty of small bills. Making change for a small purchase will be hard when all you have are $50s and $100s.

      OPs comment is incredibly naive. You're in for a rough time. Have you been paying attention to what's happening in the world? It's far more wise to prepare for the strong likelihood of a grid down scenario than to ignorantly assume that since everything has been fine up until now, it always will be. Things change. And those changes often come about with very uncomfortable disruption. If people start getting ready now they might have half a chance at surviving it.

    CASH - Have a lot of smaller denominations such as $20, $10, $5 and some smaller. The place that you are purchasing from probably won't have a lot of change. They are used to debit and credit cards.

      Cash will be worthless, you’ll be able to forge on printers. Same with precious metals, you can fake gold and silver. It’ll be trade and barter. Food, ammo, medical supplies, water.

    • @T-ElleCanada
      @T-ElleCanada 3 วันที่ผ่านมา

      @DemocratsRPedos Cash will become worthless but at the very beginning cash is what most people will relate to and will use or accept until hard reality clicks in about how long the situation will last. We don't have any certainties about what will happen or for how long. As for gold and silver, you can fake just about anything but it requires thinking way ahead. Without electricity scam artists will have a hard time producing any type of coin. The barter items you mentioned are well worth stocking up on now. During hard economic times in the USSR vodka was the main currency of the people.

    • @T-ElleCanada
      @T-ElleCanada วันที่ผ่านมา

      @sauljimenez6738 Too many unknown factors, so it is best to be prepared with different methods of payment if you need to purchase something. Over a year ago, when Rogers Telecommunications went down across Canada, for about 24 hours, people were in line to pay for whatever. Of course debit and credit cards wouldn't work if on Rogers' system. In Ottawa some vendors took I.O.U.s for small purchases like a cup of coffee. I wouldn't have expected that - humanity surprises. Unknowns.
