My grandmother on my moms side said that life barely changed for them. She wouldn't have known there was a depression if no one told her. Her family was already poor and self-sufficient.
I'm not sure city dwellers will survive as well now compared to during the great depression. There are so many more people in the cities now as compared to back then. I forsee alot of starving people in the cities as well as disease running rampant there as well. When people are homeless ( and there are and will be many more) they don't have facilities to defecate in and once there are a great deal more of them shitting wherever they happen to be, well disease will start to take over and kill alot of the population. Just look at India today. I would dare anyone to drink water out of the Ganges River. It is so toxic that people die just bathing in it if they have a cut on them. Nope, I'll stay out in the country where I can grow my own food and harvest rain water to drink and live my life without having to deal with zombie hoards in the city.
Also previously people knew how to cook and sew for themselves. This has mostly been lost. If it's not microwavable so many will not know how to feed themselves.
@@vln222 thank the lord my granny taught me how to cook clean can sew and quilt by age 9. I even have a treadle sewing machine just incase of long term power outage, not that I can't hand sew.
20 and 30 something people may not survive in the big cities as they have no skills to help themselves. My grandparents grew everything they needed to eat and had a windmill driven well head. Plus they hunted to add to the table.
