Egig recommends putting the narrow ends of the primary springs together in the primary. Great Video! Greetings from Vienna Austria
Perfect timing! I bought a Stella a few days ago and intend to do a refresh knowing the motors' weaknesses. So much information in this video!
Watching from Indonesia, great work man, could you do a review of your engine stand?
Good job . Beautiful vespa scooter
Thanks, I appreciate it!
When it's 28 outside and snowing...2 Am... good time to watch...perhaps learn something from the Vespa Guru... Just returned to the world of scooters... had a Stella years ago... picked up a 80' P200E... 3400 miles... runs great... I'm doing a color change... not pulling the engine.. and the scoot is at the welders... I don't care for the afterthought stock taillight.... I'm going with a mid 60's V Dub light...and of course... a set of curb feelers... Perhaps do a post on basic springtime first ride Maintenace.. adjustments... that you'd recommend Thanks for the time you devote this this channel... 😎
That's a great winter project you have. Thanks for the support and feel free to reach out if you need help.
Thanks Tommy... Great video, as always... I have almost 9 K on the fireball. I have to get around to doing this job soon.
You should!
.... ? wasn't this posted ths Am ? Thought I relied ... ? 😎
It was. I had to edit a few things so I took it down. Sorry for the confusion.
Really going to rely on your back catalogue of vintage Vespa rebuilds when I retire - I am looking now for a project - all the very best to you and your family for the Holiday season - thanks for taking the time for putting in loads of detail into your videos.
@@datsunruss You’re very welcome. Thanks for taking the time to watch them.
Recently return to the world of scooters with an 80' P200E nice runner 3400 miles ,,, with a box of extra goodies ... Thought $1750.oo was a good deal. It's one of my winter projects.. The stock " afterthought barf ugly " taillight has got to go.... I'm going with a mid 60'c V Dub unit, New paint and custom graphics ... 😎
Very cool!
What sealant did you use for the base packer?
Yamabond 4
@@smallborecorpsThanks, and thanks for the great vids! Wonderful info
@ Thank you for watching them.
Recently purchased a P200.. this winter it gets a paint job... I'll check into that green wire.... I'll replace that barf ugly taillight with a mid 60's VW Bettle unit. I have been riding my for a few weeks.. and noted cold starts take a few kicks... I used the same approach recommended for my old Wla HD.s, ,,,, gas on .... choke, 3 prime kicks... key on.. One kick 😎
Just bought a 80' P200E... 3400 miles... how many where on this one ? 😎
This one had 17000 miles on it.
Is there a torque setting for the cylinder studs? Not the head nuts, but the studs themselves before the cylinder is put on.
There is no torque setting for the studs. Just have them stick out enough so that you can bolt everything back together. I usually measure them before I remove them and reinstall with some blue loctite so that they don't keep spinning when you go to torque the head down.

She looks, sounds, and runs great! Good job, as always. What's next? I start "hotrodding" my ET2 50 in two weeks. Getting the parts together now.
Love it and hope to get one someday :)
Really enjoyed this 200 rebuild ❤
Glad to hear it!
7:37 ran smooth, thanks for showing us the conclusion of the build!!!! Looks nice!
3:41 lol!!!!
Go TRUMP!!!!
The easy way to prime the autolube is to use the kick-start a good few times .. you'll see the 2 stroke oil pumping through the pipe and you may see air bubbles... Best to get the air through ,then you'll not have any future problem . Mark Wales UK
You have much more patience than I do but thank you for the tip.
Cam you put in a 4th gear on a vespa 50r? Is it the same case as the 125?
And could you make a list of the exact specs and items used for this engine? Exactly what i look for
The later small frame cases are all the same. The early V90 cases are not. Watch my other small frame engine build video where I convert the 3 speed trans to a 4. I explain what you need to do it in there.
Solid work
The manual and TH-cam do make working on a vintage Lambretta fun and a great hobby. Love videos 🇬🇧👍🏾
I'm glad you are enjoying them. Thanks for watching.
Any plans for a Part 7?
It has been a busy summer for me. The frame is back from paint and the build is back in the queue. I'm hoping to continue the build very soon. Thank you for watching.
How are the carbone shocks?
Very nice for the money...
Another successful engine build that was a really good tip about the green wire. I don’t have to check my bike now and I guess I’m gonna have to replace that for the.Tip
I'm sorry i couldn't understand what the name of the fuel clamps you use? Cheers
The original ones were called Oetiker clamps. Search for those on Amazon and they will pop up.
@@smallborecorps amazing 👏
@smallborecorps follow up question, are they removable with that same tool? Or one time use only? Cheers
@@motorp742 One time use.
@@smallborecorps awww glad you said that 👍
ALWAYS a pleasure...and I ALWAYS learn! Thanks for another good 'un...
Very Impression Respekt
1:06:19 she’s alive!!!!!
1:03:36 any specific temperature rating we should be concerned about using for the grease? Thanks!
No but I use Bel Ray waterproof grease on everything which is rated for high temp applications as well.
Missed your videos! Welcome back. Thank you for making this informative and helpful video!!!
9:06 Why do you decide on 18 gauge wiring when you said 20 seems to be more common? Just thinking about cost perspective is all. Have you ever seen 20 gauge seem insufficient over the years of use?
20 gauge is what comes with these bikes. I use 18 gauge because it is more common in automotive applications these days. Its usually better to have more than you need when it comes to wiring thickness.
Installing gas tanks is one of the many reasons I have hooks all over the ceiling of my garage!
Excellent video.
Glad you liked it!
23:12 - A little tip for these third hand tools. Keep an old section of outer cable around 3-4” long and use this the distance the tool from the solderless nipple. It’s much easier to get the spanners onto the nipple that way. It works really well for the gear cables too.
I will try that on the next one. Thank you!
Great video!
Nice color and nice seat. I have one from 1983. Top speed? I ask because in the 200 engine the performance can vary a lot from one model to another. I mount an old style Malossi 210 cylinder and get to about 80 miles per hour. 👍🏻
I was only able to get about 60mph on this one.
@@smallborecorps For an original engine ok; the best ones get to 68 mph. Mine had a great engine but a friend's identical one did 5 miles less. The difference is mostly due to the height of the crankcase which varies timing and compression.
I can't believe how easy it is to do this, but you can still mess it up, I now have the confidence to fix anything
Thank you , you make a really good video and you have the patience of a saint! An extremely informative video by a true professional!
I appreciate that! Thank you for watching!
Dude -- How many ways can I say, "You ROCK!"??? Great video...I've watched you enough that now I, a TOTAL non-wrencher, at least understand what you're doing and what pieces and parts and bits you're talking about. Thanks!
I'm very glad you are still enjoying the videos. Thank you for always watching them.
Dude I love your videos. @manwellvespa
That means a lot coming from a fellow scooter TH-camr.
Looks like everything went back together pretty good on that thing. Now let’s just hope there’s no gas going into the transmission again that is something I’ve never seen before
Thank you very much for your description of the transmission gear orientation. Mine came in a box, and I installed them incorrectly. Now it shifts through all of the gears smoothly. This is my first vintage Vespa restoration, and I appreciate your intuitive videos.
Glad it helped
The bronze bush being tight is normal. Sand till there is a slight bite during rotation. As you said, it will take care of itself very quickly once installed.
I found the clutch assembly helpful, thank you for showing all the steps.
