Basic Rejuvenation of a Chair - TH Brown Mid Century Furniture
Not a full restoration but a quick and fun rejuvenation that could be applied to any old or worn furniture.
I used a Cabots walnut oil based interior stain but Howards Resore and Finish is also amazing. 120-280 grit sandpaper plus steel wool as well as an old sock. Furniture wax, drill and polishing bit(but a sock will do). Vacuum, Sards and some turpentine for cleaning the fabric.

Polishing A Turntable Dust Cover
มุมมอง 77Kปีที่แล้ว
We've all bought that "mint" condition turntable only to realize the dust cover is scratched to hell! My first ever attempt at polishing this cover from a Pioneer SPL-110 using a drill, some polishing pads and a some polishing paste. I also used a couple of old microfiber rags and a sock to get into the folds of the cover. I'm currently editing a video detailing a full service of this turntable...

The History of Acoustic Research, Edgar Villchur and Acoustic Suspension Loudspeakers

Cheap and Simple Table Saw Build! DIY With A Circular Saw

Cheap & simple DIY table saw made out of a Ryobi circular saw and some table legs. Decided to turn my circular saw into a half decent table saw instead of paying a lot of money for something similar. A long time coming but at least now I can start to cut my own baffles for my speaker builds so subscribe and keep a look out for my interchangeable Telefunken open baffle cabinet build coming soon.

Coral Speakers - A Brief History & Vintage Hi-fi Review

Coral Speakers are an audiophile bargain of the vintage HIFI world. Enjoy my humble review and brief history of this once very special Japanese company. More than anything I just wanted to share my love for Coral Speakers. Over the years I've collected as many of the drivers as I can, only parting ways with a couple of pairs when space got too tight! I'm hoping that this video might be the star...
Cheap & Simple Router Table Build - DIY!!!
มุมมอง 3.7K2 ปีที่แล้ว
A cheap & simple DIY table build using any router tool. Sometimes I need to create a new tool for the hifi projects I'm working on, so I figure why not film it at the same time? As always I like to keep it super simple so I stay on track, that being said there is plenty of room for improvements on this build. For example, a better fence, a sled, rebating the underside so the router sits up a li...

The Best 3.5 Inch Full Range Drivers // Coral Holey Basket Speakers
Love the video and info. I’m rebuilding the XB right now. Using some of your techniques. Where did you get the terminal block for the Tonearm and rca wire connection. Thanks. 8
@@AlanLudwig-w9t just from my local Jaycar, which would be like a RadioShack in the US
So you eliminate the original block and use the new one which screws in and not solder
Ooo yeaaa😎😎😎
Did the capacitors end up working out?
Any ideas where I can get a replacement trigger switch for my 5900b? Thank you
I have done an XB restoration and the only mods were to do a custom plinth out of Australian hardwood but it is to the same dimensions as the original and with a thicker bottom board. I use a V15 iv cartridge and everything works fine.
WOW James that's amazing and good on you a handy MOTH -- that's in short for "Man Of The House". Great you can start doing my antique chairs too. 🤣🤣🤣. What about my kopitiam chairs?? 😂😂.
what with you are spraying ? I gritted mine with 400/800/1000/1500/2000 and when trying with bigger abrasive paste it not dissapears... maybe the paste is too dry?
Hey mate, today at work I was given a box of speakers from the clients son. It was a 12sa-1 kit brand new in the box. I’m a carpenter and would love to get these working, I think you might be able to help me :)
@@lachlanvandermeer that's pretty cool, so it's the drivers components and instructions without the cabinets?
@ yes but no instructions, I did find the manual online
@@vintageboulton any idea on what amp to run?
@@lachlanvandermeer virtually any amp will run these no problems, even lower powered amps. What's your budget for the amp? These days I pick up random 90s receivers for next to nothing and they sound amazing
@ would something with Bluetooth be an option?
Sure you got those years right? 80’s AR magazine ads showed Teledyne, not Jensen or Audiovox ownership?
What i did to mine was since i only play 33s i machined the 45 rpm off, turned the pulley upside down and pushed it on the shaft. It puts the center of the pulley down closer to the bearing and eliminates the leverage on the bearing. My 1.99 goodwill ar has been quiet since 1984. The belt rides low on the inner platter so you have to hold it down to put the belt on but the main platter holds it down. Make sense?
Glad to find a Coral enthusiast. Seems the younger generations in america might be spoiled snot nosed geeks that have the advantages of newer high technology electronics stuff. But how worthless is it if youe listening to Justin Beaver, and the backstreet boys, and spice girls, oh my favorite Milly Vanilly, IDK. But all the reviews based in USA they just bash the brand. Ive got some BX-1500 my grandfather picked up i think in Hong Kong when he flew 747's for Pan Am. And theyve always been an absolute treasure, maybe more heavy than gold, but they sound great you dont even notice the blood running out of your ears , ha ha they are loud while maintaining clear crisp sound. But my ears might be damaged from all the grateful dead, and countless other live shows i spun my way through in the 80's and 90's, up till jerry Garcia finally checked out for good. Anyway, i love my Coral speakers , anything with 15" bass in it wont be very light and that's okay
I forgot to mention too that I would love a single driver speaker to use in a mono setup to listen to my 78 rpm records on. 78's don't need as much frequency bandwidth nor have it so something like this would be perfect. I would love to hear them in person to. These youtube videos don't do any speaker justice. On my end it's like wharfedale mixed with polk. lol
@@teddine7366 I was also thinking the same thing with a really top mono cartridge from the era - one of the GE or Shure monos
I gotta good laugh when you were talking about not applying to much heat. That reminded me of the time I was using a powerful heat gun on a driver and set the paper cone on fire. I was so pissed off. Live and learn I guess.
@@teddine7366 😂 that would have been devastating! Hate it when that sort of stuff happens
Nice Now I know what to do if I ever have to do this
I bought an AR XA from a close audiophile friend back in 1973-4. I also bought his Dynaco stereo 70 and his Pat 4 preamp. We built our own speakers. These things disappeared over the years except for the turntable..I stopped using it all together in 1984 but it managed to follow me everywhere I went and I took care to make sure it was treated well. I just resurrected it recently. Even though it had the original belt (1965 !!!!) and the tone arm head threads were stripped out, it played. It now has a new belt, new head, stylus and I’m awaiting a J45 cueing device.. I bought a vintage Sherwood receiver cheap and a pair of mint Avid 103’s.. I’m buying old vinyl lps again and back to LISTENING to music.. did not realize how much I missed it.
lovely restoration of AR XB I LIKE IT!!!!!
Wow, the PSone trick 20yrs later is now HighEnd? Hahaha, what a joke. It works, it sounds and that‘s what it is. It‘s as much HighEnd as a Dacia Sandero is a Hypercar.
No there are videos about the PS1 having a unreasonable good cd sensor for a console. On release it was the best you could have got and now it is worse but can still compete with high end systems, thus making it a high end audiophile device compared to cheep mainstream devices
I found a 1002 model in nice condition and I got it cheap. No complaints from me. It sounds really good. I was a Playstation guy in my younger years, but I sold them all. The nostalgia is awesome! Now I need some games too.
Sorry, is it real that only model 1002 works? 7002/9002 don’t work? Is there any reason why?
When you tested the speed at the end it was ok ,if not how would you get it back to it's correct speed ?
I have a pair of AR-2AX and 2X speakers restored and in rotation for period correct listening of Buddy Holly, Chuck Berry et al.
Hello dear I want to buy the table saw where can i find ?
A fantastic practical solution that I will certainly look to replicate. Many thanks for sharing.
That is not simple. Just saying.
Hello, I have seen your service video abaout AR XB Turntable. Verry clear I have the same problem with my AR XB 1 Turtable. The motor doesnt work and I have taken the motor out and also the cap of the motor, but i dare not make it further with the Hammer. I s it possible that you repair it? I am a Dutchman and live in Germany. I only can send you the electricity parts and pully. How do you know that the motor is broken? I can send you some foto's if you like. thank you for your presentation! greetings from Rob😀
Hi, I have a pair of coral stage 7 speakers given to me 50 yrs ago. I found your info herein very interesting. Do u know anything about the stage 7
Brilliant! I have a leftover set of folding table-saw legs that will be perfect for a collapsible version; thanks!
I'm so sorry that you can't talk. I guess médecine can help you
Is that rubber glue the same as inner tube repair glue? that's what I used to use just put it on with your finger. Interesting notch filter have you just been experimenting with those values? 30 kohm resistor could be better than a 22k higher value inductor. And a 32uF capacitor. Also try a 0.22uF polycap 250 volt there about across the driver terminals this helps with a bit of bass control. The driver seems to show a bit of break up in the upper mid range on that chart! the capacitor might help across the terminals with that! Or try pulling it down with an inductor very thin gauge hard to say what value maybe 0.310mH you can always put a resistor in line whatever value you use to control it better with the inductor you haven't got the right value at hand. You could try a 0.33uF capacitored to as well on the driver terminal or cross after the notch filter. Always found the 0.22 seem to be the better option but it depends on the driver I haven't experimentally in so many drivers of that very slight difference anyway but we'll give you that bite on the driver
@@jedi-mic hmmm it very well could be made of the same ingredients but I wouldn't be certain. Sounds like you know your components and values better than I do! In the end I found a sweet spot with my source and amplifier and ended up doing away with the notch altogether - it was very pure but I can't remember if I still got some of that break up.
Starts with frankly dangerous behaviour - leaning over the saw and pushing with fingers right next to the blade. I stopped watching straight away. Take note, and make sure you know how to do it safely!
push sticks/blocks are your friends. I saw DIY a riving knife their too.
they sound open baffle, not sure i like that... but they look great cheers!!!
Still haunted by the homemade looking speakers AR3 speakers i saw at a yard sale that worked for $5 bucks last year. Now I'm learning after figuring out old speakers are worth money. I work in a retirement community that's huge. I see different brands all the time and going to be building me a collection. Great video.
Thanks for the video. I spent several years polishing motorcycle parts as a second job. I think you would get faster and better results if you were to use Black Emory compound on the hard wheel for the first cut, clean the wheel with a screwdriver or such, then use white compound on the hard wheel, then white on the soft wheel for a mirror shine. :)
Thank you very much.....🎉🎉🎉🎉😅😅😅😅😅❤❤❤❤
Who else thought the thumbnail was of a toy?
What do you think of the Coral BX-9 speaker. I found a pair for $100 with cabinets looking good.
Yes absolutely gorgeous sounds! Coral are great speakers.
Now do part two where you install cables to keep the two ends of the fence perpendicular to the blade and install a tape measure at the business end so you can easily input a measured 90D cut without having to stop the saw and measure it with your portable tape measure. Then you can get rid of those clamps. Oh, do you know how to do that?
Fingers safety? No, haven't heard 0:06
better watch sponge bob vids
I wouldn't use toothpaste and borrow a drill if you haven't got one or buy a cheap used one (you'll find more uses for it). You will not get good results by hand, you can't compete with the untiring and constant power/speed of a drill on such a large area (it's not a watch).
I have an opportunity to buy Coral BX-1005 for $100. Are they worth it. Thanx
A great video about AR history!
It is a huge pity that Corals are no longer available I have heard that Lii Song are a close approximation but they vary enormously in price - from $200 to $2000AUD per driver Your design is very clever
Hi do you know anything about the Coral md5 mids. They look like yamaha ns1000 midrange speakers.
Where did you get the 3/4" T angle for the outer edge track?
Can I know dimensions and lumber type that you used?
if you need dimensions and lumber type, dont try to build this. thats literally any (mdf) board and a 2 by 4
I went out and priced this project (2024) for something that would suit my needs and sadly.... the cost to make this was only $20 USD under what it would cost to just buy a "work site" table saw.
Cheaper if you have materials laying around. A lot of DIY people who make stuff like this, usually has some material to play around with.
U make one out of pallets for free and a sheet if ply wood I got from a friend u can do it just have to not think like I'll just go buy everything at the store mindset
usually you wouldn't buy materials for a DIY project, unless you live in canada or australia and you want to play around. in very rare cases, you would buy materials if you live in USA and you dont know how to use craigslist. i live in europe. we dont have craigslist.
To remove the deep scratches you can use 2000 and 3000 grit wet sanding and then use meguiars compound for polishing.
Maranzt PM-50
Thanks
Pretty much the same process (and polishing compound) when cleaning headlights if the UV coating is yellowing or peeling, except that you have to add new UV protection at the end. Good video.
How did you wire the PowerPoint?
