It's a great project for turners of all skill levels and is a fantastic way of using up smaller scrap pieces of timber that you're not quite sure what to do with.
The spoon in this video is made from American white oak and it was turned using carbide turning tools from Easy Wood Tools.

Sharpening For Woodturning: Introduction
Thank you! Now please a short video on the way to hold, position and use these tools.
Can you show how to sharpen the tool? Thanks.
Garry NOT Linda. When sharpening high speed steel tools, you are told to NOT quick cool by quenching in water or oil. Let it cool normally in the air.
Jord, good to see you again....
Dude needs a bandsaw. Also you should consider hot gluing the spoon to a Tenon piece. That'll give you more clearance
Thanks for this informative video! Any suggestions on where i can get these parts for certain sizes?
What angle are you setting for the face?
Fr
Interesting tool, curious if you found it easier the more you used it.
**sniggers** You needed a computer to draw that?
Nicely done 👍
Very cool
template on the computer.....that's where ya lost me
Best work
❤❤❤❤
Thank you. I'm inspired
Nice one given me some great ideas.....cheers
Cool
Nicely done, first time seeing your video. Have now subscribed to your channel 🇬🇧
That looks like the exact same lathe I have, what brand is it mate?
Very nice Greetings from Germany
Nice tip.i ll use it
Thanks for the great info. Is there a preferred tail stock center for the removal of a bowl tenon?
OK.....Wait a minute......Are you Jord of Jord's woodshop? Good to see you again. If not, you have a twin unless all Aussies look alike!
Nice job! 👍👍
get one of those big 50cm round sanding discs, and make yourself a sanding disc for the lathe :)
👍👍👍🧿
Great video. Hollowing is hard! Not my favorite thing to do.
Great video! I haven't seen the trick with fitting the bowl in the chuck by removing a jaw. Great idea! New sub.
What’s that massive tool rest you have? Btw excellent videos. All of them!
how is the scroll chuck fitted to the tail stock? I have a few pieces on my failures shelf...
That’s awesome
Wow you guys have some awesome tools there. How much is that one. That and your sharpening rest look awesome
I’d be interested in seeing how you engraved the tops. I’m assuming a laser but which one and what you like about it would be interesting. Thanks for the video!
"Furniture and food are ways that people define their attitude toward life... They'll buy better stuff if it's offered to them..."
Turn your lathe speed up, carbide loves higher speed. You'll get a much cleaner cut with carbide tools if you use a higher speed than traditional HSS. Good project, well done.
Thanks for the tips, I'll give it a crack!
Easy when you see how it's done!!!!!
You should give it a crack, it's good fun
Beautiful!
Very helpful, practical and easy to understand Thanks
Thank you! :)
That's quite the rescue
Good to see the mistakes - I learned what not to do when I start turning.
That body language when the mishaps occur... how long of a smoko did you need before going back to it?
I had to walk away for about 40 minutes before getting back to it. I have to admit I would have probably given up on it after the explosion and put it in the fire if it wasn't for the camera.
If you can make this in 60 seconds, I will send you 10 grand.
"How did you make the jig?" "Oh it was easy. I used my table saw."
Not exactly, check out the full length video on the main feed and you will see there was no tablesaw just off the shelf dressed timber 😉
I think youll find santa lives in the north pole!
Great job. I've only been turning for 3 years and the thought of segmented turning makes my water dry up. I guess I will need to bite the bullet and give it a try. Cheers.
Thanks! I was expecting the whole process to be a lot harder than it was but it turned out to be super enjoyable.
You done a great job
Amazing 👌👍
Good video!
Thanks Rick
