    Tip Number 6 that just missed the cut: Get a lathe that is Heavy. Cast iron is best as mass is your friend with a lathe, especially if you plan on turning heavier items like bowls and vessels.

      @@joeyaldente8858 I'm not overly familiar with the Rikon Range of lathes but that is about what I would be expecting to pay for a good electronic variable speed model in Australia. Hopefully someone else can offer more specific advise about the Rikon Lathes themselves though :)
