I miss this game something terrible. Such good memories, it wells me up hearing this music again, and the classic as well. Things that can never be, even if Evequest were live for the first time right now, I am CEO of a tech company and married haha.. I couldn't play like that anymore. Adventures had, memories formed, friends met and lost. Now only carried on a simple tune.

The year is 2013. You're a young boy who's been watching your dad play eq for as long as you remember. You asked to play the game, so your father sets you up on a heroic account and places you into the field of bone. Suddenly, you're about to become the second generation of two playing everquest until four in the morning, and this game is about to shape your perception of video games as a whole.

Nostalgia hits like a ton of bricks. All these track are ambient, checkpoint like songs that make you want to /sit in front of a fire and just relax.

Ha...I keep coming back to this song. I recall my brother introducing me into the nerd world and me becoming an absolute fanatic about this game. I played WoW when EQ2 came out and the regular EQ started to die but it never captured me like EQ did. EQ was the pinnacle of gaming that absorbed billions of hours of people's lives during it's hayday. My brother passed away last February and listening to this theme song reminds me of the times when he and I would sit in front of our computers on the login screen, BS'ing or arguing or whatever. I enjoyed the music a lot back when I was playing it, so I'd often just sit at the main screen and listen to this song, usually watching my brother on his Cleric, grinding with a group for xp. I had a Shaman and a ranger.

2023 I am still playing EverQuest.

Wonderful. This is why I take every opportunity for seasonal and annual events to get into the old world zones. To hear the MIDIs play, and enjoy the ambience of the oldest zones.

The first time I played this I had no idea what I was doing. I ran up to an orc thing and smacked it but it was too strong. I ran away but it chased me all the way across the map and didn't stop...

I just wanna go back so bad...

I played 1999 for awhile..it's mostly 1 person with multiple toons... boxing.. not very populated..

This theme is so nostalgic for me, not because I played this game much but because my parents played it a bunch when I was a kid and I sometimes watched and heard this music a ton.

Such an excellent theme song. It's filled with adventure and friendship, it seems to me. Very nostalgic.

I played everquest at my grandmas house when i was a little kid. Her and her husband played it every day and let me make a character on their computer and i named him DeathK. A warrior wood elf i think he was. I have so many fond memories of killing harpies and skeletons and minotaurs and everything omg. Best childhood ever, i would watch them both do high level raids on friday nights killing red enemies in a huge group of players was astounding to my kid mind. When i hear this song im reminded of my grandma and simpler times. Love this game

I feel like my great-grandpa just showed me his favorite game from when he was a kid. I'm just trying to find the peak of some of the earliest mmorpgs (pre-millennium), when computers were just starting to pick up ground, and what machines were commonly running them. I know that windows 98 and 95 were late on arrival. It would be interesting to know as a millenial myself, and having been braught up playing 07 runescape on a sony vaio and then early 2011 cataclysm world of warcraft on a custom built rig. My friend who has built computers most of his life was telling me about some of the machines he had during the late 80s and on up through the 90s and early 2000s and I was asking him how gaming was but he could not tell me much because he was on the business end, not the consumer end.

I remember stepping in only to get death touched immediately if memory serves. This was of course back in 1999 when all this was new. Awesome experience it was to finally tame this zone.

There really is a charm to older graphics I don't want to forget. Everyone is too obsessed with pixel games to recognize this is cool as hell too.

There are like 3 versions of this song based on the soundcard you have. Audigy Blaster is the best but you can't get that anymore unless you emulate it. Windows 7 and beyond KILLS the song completely making it sound way worse. Gonna see if I can get the Audigy version / emulate a bunch of these and reupload them.
