Dalie's is my favorite in St Louis. All of these places have amazing BBQ, but their sides are very different. I just prefer the sides from Dalie's.

how you gonna go to some the worst places to try here..... *face palm* The main attraction of "el bait shop" is their large selection of beer on tap... so its a dive bar that has some food... hessenhaus has much better beer and food.... what about Thai Flavors, or 515 Pho.. and there are some AMAZING BBQ places... plus you guys didnt go to the West DSM side of things where all the major restaurants are at. Indian Star is really good on the north side... also yeah... the racism isnt constant but some people are just jerks. My Wife is Filipino. so Occasionally I hear those kinds of things as well...Tell ya what. if you guys venture back this way... hit me up.. ill be your food and bar guide.. promise you.. you will have a much different experience.. the world food fair festival is pretty nice though.. i must say they have great selection from many countries

But you completely overlooked the best restaurants in the Des Moines & surrounding area & There are NOT DOWNTOWN you should have asked some locals. Most of the best food is your mom and pop places Skips (cool backstory) Ohana steakhouse Francie's Jesse's embers Fongs pizza Z's eatery & pub (Indianola) Fiesta jalapeno (Indianola) Groggy dog (Indianola) Irenas (Russian) Tumea & sons (Italian) And for next time just remember you catch more flies with honey than with vinegar. A little more respect when visiting my state would be nice Soooooo.....
