Thank you sir for the update, you have a batch of wonderful automobiles sir. I'm always very interested in your restoration work on these vehicles. From Oregon State. Thank you! 👍
👍
great video thank you. Glad to know you are safe and so is your home place
Never seen you so dressed up! Don't do stuff for TH-cam, do the stuff you want to. We'll still watch.
I like the take-your-time approach. No need to hurry on everything. ( all that work takes away from time you could be spending looking for more cool stuff ).
oh look its slingblade😂😂😂
I am rebuilding a 27 touring. I have some questions you might be able to help me with regarding the top bows and windshield. Your videos are great to watch. Real info and informative. Thanks
enjoyed the video, fellow Long Beach member
Lunar new year was yesterday.
I thought you were going to fall over during your victory dance when the T started on magneto. 😅
I have the same issue. Too many restorations to do not enough funds and time.
Is your name Rick? From Stockton Ca??
So Glad that you are not very close to the --- FIRE! ------ One wonders --- how many collector cars / classics were destroyed --- plus maybe an exotic or two ---- Glad you weren't in it ------ I know what you mean when you say ---- "I want to get started on it" ---- BUT ---- I've got to do -- THIS FIRST ---So -- we get our butt in gear ---- work on those things that comes first -- then comes that piece / part ---- sometimes there is a lot to be done before we can get started on that one thing ---- Well --- looks like you have a --- GOOD --- line up for 2025 ----- No reason for not having anything to do! ----- Hope you have a Good Weekend ----- Rodney
cool post,..
I enjoy watching you rebuild/repair the various vehicles in your "state of the art" repair facility 😅😅. Shows what can be done with simple tools on simple cars. I've learned a thing or two - thanks!
You have some wonderful projects ahead of you for 2025. You did not mention the Tall T that you were sitting next to... I assume then that it's a customers car... Can you mention the year of the Tall T, its status and future plans? Thanks
Where ya live? I’ll hire you to rebuild my T engine!
To adjust the air gap between the flywheel and field coil, install the field coil leaving the 4 cap screws very loose, install the flywheel and bolt down tightly to crankshaft. Now the field coil because it is loose will fit tight against the flywheel magnets. With a feeler gauge measure the gap between the block and the back of the field coil at each of the 4 field coil mounting bolts. Take this measurement and subtract .030 from the measurement. The result will give you the thickness of each shim needed to give you .030 air gap between the flywheel and field coil. You should only have to remove the flywheel one time.
Manufacturers too lazy to completely paint each leaf before assembly not good enough
That must be a proud moment.
I know that you can have older springs re-arched. A spring shop might be able to also reduce the arch of leaf springs.
Another well timed Falcon video. I need to replace the rear springs on my 63 Fordor, good to know I'll have to pull at least one leaf. Mine is a lot rougher than yours right now but now I have something to strive towards!
Thank you. cool, have fun with that.
You have pl;enty of time to address the springs, as they are eternal.
Is it wise to use sealed bearings (at least, on the inside) for the rear axle?
My thoughts too, but that's how the originals were.
Is that veteran car behind you an unrestored Ford model T first series?
Yep, that's a 1913 model T that I'm restoring.
I has a 63 Ranchero, it had over 300000 miles on it , the guy i got it from used to haul fire wood in it, It sat very low
It’s always been a problem overheating the heads are the usual culprit been that way back to the first inception
I kept waiting for you to pop into camera view saying........"Here's Johnny". Nice car!
Another great video Charlie.
My dad rebuilt a trans assembly on the family T once and installed the starter gear backwards! The starter gear wouldn’t mesh up ring gear because of chambered gears was wrong, ya could’ve brought that up! lol
A full gas tank will help the rear suspension settle? There is beauty and grace in automotive simplicity. Thanks, Charlie! 💯
The people who sell springs often seem to have no idea what the right one is. You so often see cars with rebuilt suspensions riding a couple of inches too high in spite of telling them the year, the engine and transmission, if it has AC. The same thing happened to me and it’s really frustrating, especially when it’s the front springs.
Yep, I had to snip one coil off the front springs to get those to work.
A cold chisel on new bearings. Ouch.
Looking closely, 7:54 the old bearing is used as a spacer so to protect the new bearing and lock ring during assy. see 8:53. Presswork ain't free and is always done at the customers risk.
When you did the cutaway to say you were disassembling everything again, I almost died. If I were comfortable enough in my hackery to actually record me trying to fix things, that'd be something I'd do. I usually have to disassemble everything 3 or 4 times before I get it right.
0:34 Wrong. Not a nerd, but a purist or maybe originalist! A lot of classic car owners want as near-to-original parts as possible, hopefully without going overboard. I love that you have these sensibilities.
Good job.
I like the new ride height. Wish my Comet was up like that !
Muy bueno!
Great video, I love these old Falcons. Here in Australia they didn't last long, the suspension couldn't cope with the rough roads. They were improved out of sight and became a best seller. Slathering grease between the leaves of the rear springs helps a lot, they'll settle in a whole lot quicker
About the only thing that can cope straight out to rough rural roads or trails or cattle paths is a Model T!
I owned a '60 Falcon Tudor wagon with the 144 and three speed manual. Rebuilt the engine, transmission, and rear axle. I liked the car, however it was slower than a glacier 😂. My VW bug was definitely faster 😉 Your Falcon is coming along nicely 👍
Americans don't like extra junk in their trunk.
Well, it didn't go exactly as planned, but you didn't make it worse... In my shed that's a win. Cheers
I don't think you will be able to reuse those bearings.
You don't say...
The bearings were probably fine but a press is normally used to replace them. Anyway, love the car.
Wow, straight to "I'm not asking" with those bearings, eh? You were so nice using lube on the bushings, then wham, nuclear option.
I hpope that the horrendous fires have not threatened you. Good luck!
I just fixed my generator! Thanks for the video. 61 f100 all original just because " it's fun"
Hi any update on how they works since?
I suppose they are notorious for wearing out and in used cars, they are usually INOP.
I know this is an old video but that generator is off a 55 ford and in fact is a 7 volt generator. They were positive ground. I have one. It is fine for a 12 volt system in fact the winding are heaver then a 12 volt generator. The voltage regulator determines the output.
The four guys in baseball caps in a Bentley cracked me up.
my set up is an overhead beam and I hoist the engine up with a chain fall then move the car out and then lower the engine to the ground. I usually push the car with my foot back to move it but once when doing it on my own the car rolled out of the garage and onto the driveway. I didn't know if I should chase after it or stay with the engine hanging in mid air 😀
