Hey mate, great video. Where can I buy that seal kit from? Thanks again.
Thank you mate. I bought the seal kit from Ebay for about £10
@aguycalledjoe7802 oh brilliant mate. Its the mr o ring kit yeah?
@@druckerman247 yes that is the one👍🏿
Hi Joe I’ll ask my VW dealership I use and ask them what they would use. When the car goes in for its next service I’m going to replace rear shocks springs bump stops etc Be in touch soon Good luck
They usually have some sort of sticker or stamp with the brand on the shock absorber but it has corroded off on mine. I am guessing they are Bilstein or something
I still have edition 30 one previous owner mine is a 3 door as
The tyre pressure sensor is standard
@ernie451 are the tyre pressure sensors standard on all mk5 golfs or just on the GTI's?
I've recently done both mine with similar mileage to yours approaching 150000, my pvc valve had its day, the symptom my car had was rough idling 😊
Yes the pvc valve is one of the first things I think should be replaced when getting one of these cars🙂. What were the symptoms of a your faulty pvc valve?
Dove si può comprare?
I bought mine brand new from Mercedes👍🏿
I'm mooching around for a nice Mk5 R32. Let me know ever want to let it go.
Defo need to do my front one.. didn't realise the door skin comes off. Great help. I got a Ed 30 to (1975). Bloody love it, I like your wheel colour.
@maj6150 yes the door skin comes off on the mk5 & then the lock mechanism is fairly easy to replace after that👍🏿
Hi Joe Looking forward to seeing your next video Being a bit of a purist I do like OEM + mods Anything that renews and improves in any way and looks stock. All the improvements I have made over the last 3 yrs have made a big difference. One thing I would say is the engines are so well made and servicing every year oil filter is essential on these brilliant R32s Good luck my friend
Hi @jonathonbrett-qn1ic do you know what type of standard shock absorbers these R32's have?
Had the same issue. Try to DIY and thank God i didn't make it.😂 end up sending the mk5 to the workshop and change the flange. Its a good video, brother. All tools in this video is a must especially the crimper. If u dont have that, just dont proceed further.
Awww bro you took the easy route by sending your car to the workshop. I was aching for days, after changing that flange🤣🤣. You saved yourself a lot of headache🤣🤣
Just done similar job last week on the wifes mk5 gti
@leesharples9010 👍🏿 well worth tackling yourself isn't it?
@@aguycalledjoe7802oh yeah definitely
I had the same problem on my jetta 2.5 recently, if I had seen your video before I would have saved the cost of replacing it with a specialist, good video..
@mich9170 that is a shame, you could have saved a bit of money doing it yourself & also got the satisfaction

Baddest car🔥imagine it w a turbo and its OVER☄️
@3Raj13 I seriously can not imagine how much it cost to turbo one of these cars🙈. It would be awesome though🤣👍🏿
Great machine R32. I have 2 R32 myself
Wow you like the car that much you bought it twice🤣. You are right though, great car🙂
Brilliant Joe love the R32 The wing backs are worth around £2000 I have the same car :) The wheels you have are Zolders and are standard when car was new. Check underneath as on the earlier models the sub frames where aluminium and better then the later models that had painted steel sub frames. When you change brake discs & pads the difference is noticeable straight away. The springs are more prone to brake because of the weight and harder ride. Rear brake calipars are prone to binde with age. Check the front brake slidders sometimes need changing. Can’t wait for the next video Thank you
@jonathonbrett-qn1ic yes I do remember when you said you have a Golf R32. I feel your passion when you talk about it, they great cars. I am doing work on the car already & everything I have learned on my GTI has come handy on this car. I am thinking about changing the suspension to coilovers, what do you think??
If money over time no object will you be looking to rebuild the engine etc at that mileage ?
Those the wing back seats ? S3 ones worth 1000s
@bouncecentral230 yes they are wingbacks. I would imagine that the Audi S3 ones are worth a touch more
Just seen you're post on FB group, love a 32, wanted one but I went for s3 instead, not by choice one came up and I needed a car. Hopefully get into a 32 one day.
I have had an Audi S3 in the past so I would say you have made a good choice in car 🙂
🔥 🔥
Keep it up bro ❤
Will try bro👍🏿
And you have the wing backs
@leesharples9010 yes the car has wingbacks & a few optional extras but I want to add more🙂
@ ive a res delete pipe for the standard system if your interested as ive put a scorpion cat back on mine
Love it 👌🏻👌🏻
I’ve bought the same seats for my gti coming this week, are they plug and play because mine don’t have electric lumbar standard
I can only speak for the seats I installed in my car & yes they were plug & play. Good choice of seat though👍🏿
@@aguycalledjoe7802 the air bag connection was a different plug, was a nightmare so I cut and soldered my original connector and all works. Think the plugs changed from 2006 models
Well at least you sorted it even though it was a bit harder than usual plug & play👍🏿
Definitely one of the best looking Touran's I've seen, really nice.
Thanks you. I have a nice optional upgrade planned for it🙂
How much did all the parts cost ya ?
I payed £160 for the intercooler from eBay
Great vid 👌🏼 I love Mercedes and I do have a Smart ForTwo 451 MHD Convertible. I can't believe how difficult they make it to work on them. Surely common sense would of allowed you to simply pop out the old grill and slap on the new one in seconds but they have made that ridiculously awkward for you fella. Hence I get my local Mercedes and Smart specialists to do the work 😂(not a main dealer obvs) love my Smart but why did they think it was a good idea to make them so finicky to work on 😅from what I've seen of other TH-cam vids including yours, on the Smarts!! 😮😅
Thank you very much🙂. Yes the manufacturers do make hard for us to work on cars so we have to be very patient & just take our time. Bare in mind, It is not just Mercedes who are guilty of this. Have you done any modifications on your Smart?
I need the dead set kit for mine , its creaking so ordered the new subframe bolts , if i new where you was located would asked for a hand 😅
I didn't use a dead set kit in the end, I just could not get it to fit. Have you change the bolts on your subframe & torqued to spec? Is it definitely your subframe that is creaking? some times it can be a faulty drop link. I stripped all my front suspension & then put it all back together & this cured all the issues I had🙂.
@@aguycalledjoe7802 done subframe bolts , drop links , ball joints and new shocks and top mount , still creaks with s clunk so am thinking there is an issue with my prop shaft as mine is the mk5 r32
Right so you have replaced all of the obvious stuff. It is so hard to say but maybe it is your subframe. I have literally just bought an R32 so i will have to research the obvious faults
@@aguycalledjoe7802 as also mine is dsg , when sat in neutral i can hear a grumbling noise coming from under the gear stick as also passengers can feel the clunky sound coming from the foot well
Does it clunk whilst driving? I just remembered, my GTI clunked in the passenger footwell so i installed a Whiteline anti lift kit & it stopped. I also installed inner tie rods because i had a slight knocking from the center & that also stopped. This may help with your issues with your car
Man that radiator screws i get so mad when i find things like that, that people fixing the car that way, idk how they are satisfied. I got my brain twisted with the econ button thing, i tought the same as you, but is the other way damn, i tried recharge my car that i bought a year ago, the seller said to me the a/c stopped working suddenly and have no gas, i tried recharge it but only could get 20g in, so i guess the compressor is not starting, i hope it's the solenoid or the g65 if not im screwed and i have to take everything off hahaha Nice video that button thing was helpfull!
Yes it is not nice when you pay for a service & the car comes back worse. I always check other peoples work carried out on my car, unless I have done it but I am learning more & more as time goes one. Hopefully the problem with your AC is not too serious but yes try replacing the solenoid as a cheaper option to begin with👍🏿.
Did it give you more torque when accelerating 🤔
No i don't think so but it does feels more responsive on acceleration from a stand still👍🏿.
@@aguycalledjoe7802 I replaced the ground wire between the engine and frame with a big 2/0 welding cable and a set of tinned lugs…. Id like to say my ignition feels more precise because the spark plugs get more energy. Try that
To be honest my car is plenty fast enough for what it is. The balance of the handling & the power is just about right. I think more power would make the car a lot less fun to drive but what you mentioned sounds like a good tip that i may try one day👍🏿
@@aguycalledjoe7802 Love your Channel, thanks for making the videos on the Smart... Cool dude
fit a k04 and some spacers
@Muhammadkhan3557 it is already K04. I had Eibach spacers on the car but it actually drives a lot better without them.
Another solid video, Joe. We specifically produce LEDs for auto. Can we invite you to do a review for our product? If so,How can we connect with you
Do you know whats the part number of that intercooler.
No sorry I do not know the part number, I bought it second hand from eBay. It is just an Audi S3 8P aluminium Intercooler. Hope this helps👍🏿.
@@aguycalledjoe7802 I've got a BWA 2.0t Jetta planning to go stage 2 soon wanna upgrade the intercooler. I guess the 6r one should work aswell
Yes i would imagine it is very simular, if not the same
In Australia we did not get the "Econ" button but my guess is it turns off the climate control for better fuel economy. In my GTI I had for 16 years the auto button was always on, meaning the aircon was always running winter -5 degrees to summer 43 degrees. I note in your video you have the temp set on HI both sides which will just turn the heater on full temperature. Aircon/climate control is not just for summer cooling - it's for winter dehumidifying of the windows.
I would guess air con is must have over there in Australia? I doubt I will have much use for my air con here in England, I only fixed it on my car because I like every last thing to work. You are right about dehumidifying the windows though because mine used to steamed up when I parked the car, hopefully that problem is also solved🙂.
Can u tag the parts
Yes sorry I forgot to list the parts. I have listed them in the description👍🏿
Great job thank you for the excellent tutorial Your golf is nearly factory fresh :)
@jonathonbrett-qn1ic factory fresh is good way to describe what I am trying to achieve with this GTI. Thank you🙂.
That econ button is a minefield for different theories,my air con has never worked neither but my car been black was horrible in the summer lucky for me my engine is toast so I’m on the hunt for a new engine and when I get one I’ll be changing everything to do with the a/c side so it works,I’ve read somewhere that you can change the climate buttons from later models with A/C button and it works as it should light on a/c on light of a/c off but could be wrong
Yes I bet that ECON button has caused so many problems for people. I think one of the biggest problems is when the AC has run out of gas & you just can not tell if the AC on or off because it is not pumping out cold air. Sorting your AC while fitting a new engine is probably the best time to do it🙂.
@@aguycalledjoe7802 gassed my ac at work held pressure no leaks(checked with the proper light) felt cold for about 2min parked it went back to work checked when finished nothing plugged my scan tool in 0 pressure so just give up with it,just need a engine now and get rid of all the performance bits I stuck on it going back to stock
Mk6 interior upgrade soon?
@ezjohnny no not unless it come with wingbacks? I also like my interior🙂
Also mahle is a decent name, it's who made the factory forged pistons for RS turbos
I am new to all this but i have heard MAHLE is a decent brand. I am trying to learn as much as i possibly can about different brands in a short space of time🙂.
@aguycalledjoe7802 I always buy TWR ceramic pads, FAG bearings, ATE brake fluid, HENGST filters, and theirs a purflux/fram cabin filter that's hepa but im trying to find out if its suitable for rhd. I did used to use conti belts and timing kits but now use gates. some good makes for you their. 👍🏻
Great info, much appreciated🙂
@aguycalledjoe7802 my pleasure mate 👍🏻
Hi, not sure if when you changed the climatronic if you swapped cable 16 to 20. im not 100% sure its needed on the gen 2 from gen1 but its defo needed to change to gen3, but i dont think theres a facia for a gen3 in a golf mk5
Hi @sciroccomods yes i swapped the cables when i did the climate upgrade, that is only for the memory setting & does not believe it affects anything else. My friend has got a mk6 Golf so i need to borrow his climate control module just to experiment.
@@aguycalledjoe7802 loads of cool mods to do to these. I'm in the process of doing another scirocco iv just purchased. iv already done all suspension. mk8 r heated wheel. and porsche brakes this week. I just couldn't film myself . shame as I do nice work.
Wow it sound like some good work your doing. Everyone including myself would love to see this👀.
@aguycalledjoe7802 I'll upload pics etc at weekend. Just trying to sort this week before weather turns to dust.
Had a new compressor on mine a few years ago and it’s stopped working. Had it down at a local guy who knows his AC stuff and it was all perfect bar the compressor kicking in. A weeks or so later the canbus died through corrosion so now I’m not sure if that had something to do with the AC not kicking in, as the car lost all communication 😅 Great video though 👌🏼
@andygta i think the compressor can stop working for various reasons but i would start with the cheapest repair first & that would be the solenoid on the front of the AC compressor. VW don't even sell or replace them.
I heard that the compressor always die because of how they are connected to the belt and they are always spinning even when the Aircon is off
@doitTD this is true, the AC compressor pully is always spinning. No clutch like other AC compressors & thats why it has a solenoid instead. I am no expert on this subject but i bet their are various reasons why these things stop working👍🏿
I have always wondered what that ECON button is for. My compressor broke connection between the pulley and the inner parts. A compressor is currently too expensive for me but I also don’t want second hand
Yes the ECON is short for economy so when the AC is off you save fuel. AUTODOC list cheaper compressors on their website👍🏿
Merci !!!
Tell me about it ha ha

@@aguycalledjoe7802 for the video, and the advice because you also helped me a lot with my mk5 ed30
I try to tackle the issues on these cars that many people do not bother with. Glad the videos have helped👍🏿
Definitely a rough job! Did this a couple months ago, just a note for anyone having to tackle this…fully removing the battery tray box will give you more room when you’re removing or installing parts in that tight spot! Great job!
Thank you. For me that is the smallest but hardest job I have tackled on my GTI so far🤣.
the map switching is great!
Yes it is a really cool idea🙂
Really odd those level sensors you changed are not fitted to one of my sciroccos with xenon bend lighting, but are fitted to another one of my sciroccos as that also has dcc. , iv also got another scirocco aswell with xenons but no bend lighting with dcc so ill check that later, also regarding your golf and touran passat b6 alloy hubs and alloy wishbones bolt straight on. If it was me id fit the r32 front calipers to the touran and fit 18z to the golf for some massive 6 pot stopping power. Although 18z wont fot on alloy hubs but will on your factory gti. Keep up the good work 👏
I might be wrong but maybe the Scirocco with the xenon headlights but no headlight level sensor are not factory options, just a guess. My Golf GTI has got the alloy hubs/knuckles & front control arms from an Audi S3 & mk5 Golf R32 brake setup. I don't really want to change the look of the Golf because I am a fan of the OEM plus look. Someone I know has fitted Audi TTRS brakes with the stock wheels but needed wheel spacers. I Had spacers on my car not too long ago & the drive was not as smooth as it is without the spacers. I tried to fit the 3.2 Audi TT quattro front brakes to my Touran. These brakes are pretty much the same as the R32 ones but my wheels would not fit so I put the stock brakes back on it🤣🤣.
@aguycalledjoe7802 No all 3 are factory xenons but the only ones with those sensors are the 2 with dcc. it's an odd one 🤔
That is strange, does it not have a level sensor on rear of the car either?. My Golf has front & rear level sensors but i am not sure if the Touran only has a front one
@aguycalledjoe7802 yes all 3 have the rear sensor but only the ones with dcc have the front ones. 👍🏻
Well all 3 of your sciroccos sound like they have slightly different specs to each other. All of them sound nicely specced up👍🏿
Where did you get the edition30 badge for the front? I dont have one
I think I got the badge from eBay.
Tell your son to pull his God damn trousers up..
Excellent video Very satisfying work and looks great
Thank you very much🙂
