Brahms: Nanie, Opus 82 featuring Eric Marienthal by André Berry

This is the Symphony, “Brahms Opus 82: Nanie”, done with an animated film I created. I used Blender 2.79 for the Animation. I used Reason 10 as my DAW workstation. I stayed true to the score, using “BBC Symphony Orchestra plug ins” but I added in live modern instrumentation/samples/loops to put a modern twist on it. I think this would be something fun to blast in the car at night on the freeway...

My Momma LOVE George Johnson And Said HE Should of been your Daddy, Lol Lol ,AND My Aunt Anna Marie Was in Love With Louis Johnson..
And to hear George tell his story, I found myself saying, "wow", several times-I even recall saying it once, right at the exact same time the guy who's questioning George had said it. And to hear all of what they had been through, just in this video alone, reminds me of how EXCITING the music industry used to be; it's all gone now, and even though you have great and phenomenal players of the new and younger generation, making the music of today, there's something that's still MISSING from all of it-and that is music being made that used to touch the soul; it used to feed you, and that element is seriously missing from like 99% of today musicians and singers! Why? That's another story in itself, which I won't go into at this time! And I'm not hating on Beyonce or Taylor Swift(whose PHENOMENAL success I really don't understand, seeing that she really doesn't sound like anything I'd want to hear!) or any of the other big stars of today, but they're NOT BRINGING IT like we used to do-and certainly like The Brothers Johnson used to do! It's like 'day and night' now-WTF happened? Again, there are REASONS as to why music no longer inspires the way it used to, and I've spoken on it, in detail, on other people's formats, here on YT, but I won't elaborate on it, anymore at this time, on this format! And from 1950s to the 1980s, which is when it all started to demise, music was that which FED US-INSPIRED US-and let us know that(for me anyway) there was hope for a better world! I don't hear any of that in today's music(and I am all of 66 years old now, so you'd think I'd know what I was talking about-and I do)! I miss the great and inspirational music that came forth from our generation; it's all gone now-forever, and I feel for the new and younger generation who have chosen to make music, because, like I said, as greatly and in some case, phenomenally talented as they are, there's still something missing from the music they're making now, and I'm sorry to say, it's been consistently like this for about the past thirty-five years now! What then for these things? It says to me that we are at the end of humanity, and I know that sounds like "gloom and doom" to some of you; nevertheless I have to speak on these things because they are of such great importance to me(and as quite as it's kept, to many of you also, especially to you who are of my age and generation), and I have a Biblical perspective also to these things, though I no longer consider myself a Christian, that lets me know that everything I've stated in this commentary is both VALID and TRUE! And-as the old saying goes, if you "can get to what I'm saying", God bless you-the rest of you...oh well; I really don't know what else to say about it, and so I'll leave it at that. 12-12-24.
George said this story is on Facebook, well I'm glad he told it to the brother who then posted it here on YT because I've been blocked from having access to Facebook now, since 2020, and so, being a fan of their music, I am glad to hear these stories about early days of The Brothers Johnson! 12-12-24.
Been loving them for years from Look Out For No 1 to Kickin' . Would get so excited at the very thought of each new release and buy the LPs and later on their Cds instantly . Also listened to and bought their singles . Was also Louis Johnson's newsletter fan when he founded the Louis Johnson Bass Academy and placed orders to buy the VHS tapes that were on sale at that time : Starlicks and other VHS tapes too on which Louis is seen performing with his cousin Alex Weir . Didn't meet George however but would have greatly appreciated it . Awesome memories and mesmerizing musicians in more ways than one : so versatile tuneful and emotionally powerful in all areas of music . In short artists with a true sense of musicianship that took jazz, soul and funk to another level . My best to the Johnsons and much gratitude to Thunder Thumbs and Lightnin' Licks for their contribution to music.
Trying to find out, bout you now........Louis. REST ASSURED 🌹
Great interview! HUGE Brothers Johnson fan🎸🎸 I was learning to play guitar when "Look out for #1" came out, but when I heard Louis, I became obsessed with slap bass. So cool to hear George tell these stories. RIP Thunder Thumbs🙏🎸❤️
Way to go guys!
Es necesario que ponga tantas caras weonas?
One of the best performances of Run for Cover. RIP David Sanborn.
I thought that was Dean on guitar at first... But is that Nick Moroch? Astral Pirates!
I was very impressed with you and Louis documentary 👏 💯 💯 💯 💯 💯
played with Lance ages ago. Insanely good drummer!
Yeah, that cat busted that bass behind David’s sax.❤😊
Bass solo is all about creativity, love, pain, joy…. If you dont do that, You are just playing Bass …everything is here … spécial Love to david too by thé way
Brother Berry got some serious bass face! 👍🏿
George you and Louis are geniuses I had no idea that you guys had your own material before you got with Qunicy Jones
Loved the lead guitar solo. Who is this.
What an amazing story about such an amazing group, especially George and Louis! Always in my soul and in my heart!

Thanks. Give Charles G a shout next time he's in town
I will love the Brothers Johnson forever...I remember briefly speaking to George when he was at KACE 103.9 in L.A. interviewing. Soon after that, I became an intern at the station. lol
This version is excellent!! I’ve heard Marcus Miller’s a thousand ways and it’s always good!! This is just as fantastic. Making it his own!! This is top notch!! I think Marcus would like this too!👍❤️
Thank you man! Nice of you to say. I been practicing and pushing hard the last two years. How bout you! There's only way to become what we dream of .. .TIME PUT IN!! Go hard!!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY GEORGE 🎉🎊🎂🎉🎁 Awesome we share the same birthday month!❤
That bass and that drummer..... fantastic!!!
R.I.P David!
Sooo Sad today...David Sanborn passed away. I have special feelings about the loss of one of American Music's most influential and iconic Saxophonists. I was lucky to be in the vicinity. I know that. Blessed to be there...but what he gave me was an even greater blessing. His words were, "I'm never going to tell you what to play! Bring YOU to the party! Show me what you got! I'll let you know if you get too far off base!" I was blown away..."You mean I can play whatever I want??! What??!/ It was unheard of in the circles I had been in. In the circles I had been in control was everything. In this new atmosphere with David, Creativity and invention was everything and it clicked for me why Marcus Miller is so free and creative. He was used to atmospheres like this one and with Miles Davis where you don't just play the song by rote...you don't play the same solo night after night...you are expected to expound, expand and invent new atmospheres and landscapes. Take the music somewhere! Gasp! and slowly I began to understand and step into my newfound freedom. I worked desperately to rise to the occasion and I continue to march along the path. God blessed me with 7 years (wait...addendum: I started in July 2014 and did his last gig February of 2024. That means 10 years! Sigh...:0(......) of playing with such a great musician as David Sanborn. There were other guys before and after me...Richard Patterson had the longest tenure. Much respect to him. He's a badd man, a great player and was there forever. The fact that I got a little bit of time is a blessing I will never gloat about or take for granted. Sad day indeed,,,,I am trying to get a letter to Larry Graham who is probably my first and biggest influence. We lose our heroes and they need to know how important they are. David Sanborn, you changed the trajectory of my bassplaying and my career. How can I ever thank you. My time with you was a gift from you and God. Sincerely, André
I often play this video because it motivates me! That thump from the bass is the best I've ever heard. This evening, I learned of Sanborn's passing on Fox News. I let out an audible, 'Noooo'. Naturally, I returned to this video. I was glad to see such a fine tribute from Andre.
I can't get over this news... Andre, I commented on this video, and you invited my girlfriend and I backstage at Ronnie Scott's to meet David that night. Thank you so much. David will be missed by us all.
A very sad day indeed..And we were priveleged to hear the great creative talent that was David Sanborn. You were blessed with the opportunity to collaborate with him (And by the way, your bass playing is phenomenal) RIP, David...thanks for the music..
😢@@wesbresee
@@wesbreseethank you. God bless.
How amazing of a Father was that? wow
Bad Ass on 10!
Supportive parents are everything for the young musician. If his parents did not encourage their interests, there would be no group.
Back in the day, I used to hang out at the record store in my neighborhood, checking out music the latest LP, Louis Johnson with in demand, every LP you picked up, he would be in the credits, everybody wanted him to play on their albums, it's back in the early seventies, I mean he was on a lot of albums playing bass, he had a reputation in the industry. Rest in peace brother.
Louis Johnson was one of my early inspirations to pick up the bass. Mr. Thunder Thumb himself. Boy did we have fun back in high school in ‘78-‘79 grooving to their music. I’m telling you that era of music, 60’s-80’s was the best music EVER. There was so many great bands and music. No music today comes close. RIP Louis Johnson. 🎼🎼👍🏾
I listened to stomp for the first time this morning and it woke me up faster then my coffee. Amazing talent and GROOVE!
Wow is right what really caught my attention is when Quincy told George I'm interested in hearing what the future of music sounds like which is evolution, A fascinating story.🦅
Andre Berry is a Badass Bass Artist.
He just proved that!👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
Who is that snoring 😂😂
Strawberry Letter #23 is one of my all time favorites, Shuggie Otis version of Strawberry 🍓 Letter #23 is amazing also.
Il joue avec une Marcus Miller...
Andre, you have influenced me to become a bass player and to become a better bass player! I love your work on Cadillac Slim with Rick Braun!! The little nuances I learn from you will stay with me forever.
Thank you Kevin! Wow! Hey man, put your heart into it and pour your passion out through the notes! Wishing you the very best, Sincerely!
@@andreberry5618 Thank you so much!! I believe your contribution to music will live on for a very long time. Isn’t it amazing how you can influence people without really knowing it until someone opens their mouth and just tells you. You are appreciated!!!!!!!!
So sick. I want a bassmods!
Can’t even BEGIN to tell y’all how big a fan I was of The Brothers Johnson! When they first hit the scene, I was hooked. What INCREDIBLE music they made and talent they had! George is missed, Rest In Power.
