Sue Bird and Megan Rapinoe Launch New Production Company
I respect all the years of physical work and study the two of you and Caitlin endured to become the great athletes that all three of you are. CC said she earned the Time award. Caitlin also admitted that her life and accolades would look somewhat different if she was black. She has grown up with black and white teammates and she completely understands both the black and white athlete dynamics. At of her goodness she wants all the players in the league to grow along with her. IMO most people watching sports are watching for entertainment and do not think about the OG of any sport or game they are watching. So let it go and enjoy the game.
How does a former ARP…now a NARP on crutches get an autograph from my 2 favorite players ever? Section 112 of the game tonight in the wheelchair section
That is a bunch of bs. Many fans that are true basketball followers are tired of all whites in business and sports accomplishments being devalued. Not ALL whites are privileged and many had to work their ass off. The black athletes etc.. are abusing their race card to discredit the accomplishments of whites. You two cannot speak for the lives of all whites. Why is it ok for black athletes to turn the WNBA into a league of racist activist. This is the only professional sports that women are full of jealous and hate. Aja for one is a narcissist. A wolf in sheep clothing.
CC was drafted #1 because of "white privilege? Sue was #1 pick because of "white privilege? Megan made the National Team because of "white privilege"? Talk about YOUR "white privilege" for a change.
Wrong! There is nothing worse than woman who throw women under the bus, except maybe retired athletes who do not protect the young athletes. Let's be clear, this is not about "trans," but about males. Banda is likely intersex, not trans, so you spreading misinformation, and Banda is male. This is not about "hate," but your ignorance and failure to speak the truth. It is wrong to center males in a conversation on women's rights. If you don't know what a woman is, you should probably take a basic biology course. Incidentally, I am a Democrat, non-religious, and a feminist, and so you attempts to smear women who stand up for women will not work in my case.
Megan & Sue, be good to yourselves. Leaders are seldom victims. They are too busy leading, as influencers. To achieve the heights of your personal calling in soccer and basketball demanded coming to your game at your highest potential. Yes, ‘the fire inside’ you both on the playing field driven by your character, skill and resulting quality of performance, put you in places of honour. The W and women by their natural leaning to feed and protect has lost its way. Distracted by the promise that ‘we are all equal’. We are not! See Jordan, Gretzky, Biles, Serena, Swift, Sinclair (yes, I am Canadian lol). Observing and listening to obvious bias against Caitlin without underlining her merit and worthiness of TIME Athlete of the Year further reveals to me that her detractors, The W and women do not see themselves as enough. Their brilliance has dimmed in retirement. They are focused on being victim of colour, orientation and not focused on celebrating successes; theirs or Caitlins. Competitiveness is driven by need for approval in psychology. Need less, I say.
Women or men, it doesn't matter, boxing is not a sport. It is glorified violence. Beating up another isn't something to celebrate no matter how you got there. Your show is terrific, but it seems incongruous that this isn't something two smart people would at least acknowledge. If we sanction violence as a sport, it diminishes the campaign to stop men from beating women, or both of them from beating children, which is legally ok in all fifty states. Take a stand. You can't parse violence into acceptable and unacceptable categories. Boxing is a full force "flagrant foul." Acknowledge it as such....
I hope we can finally stop burdening Caitlin with speaking up on narratives that she has never fed into and making it her responsibility to acknowledge anyone who has ever played basketball before her everytime she rightfully wins an award, this has never been expected from an athlete before. It's tiring that every time she achieves something it's not allowed to stand on it's own but we have to acknowledge x and y and skin color etc, in a way people only want her to speak on this to diminish what she achieved by herself
Lol the wole mob hates clark. Shocker.
The culture war is corporate. Celebs, pundits, and fast politicians are meme-brained into black/white sniping and very purposefully get to avoid the material concerns that require majorities. As in underlying, universal, material concerns. Concerns for which are at the root of group-outrage, group-seeking, and finally, group-think. In that order. It's the reason why the SPLC has so many hate groups on there. White and black, as it turns out. Be weary of a vernacular not FIRMLY rooted in social science when trying to boost your yas-queen credibility. Or not. Hard to expect much from either side of a badly damaged coin.
oh snap! we can request a vibe check?? I would love a vibe check on Kara Lawson’s Duke Squad!!
I need larger women’s sizes, we are basketball players that we are larger than size 11.
The progressive lefts insistence on talking about race, sexuality...etc is what is so decisive. How typical of a progressive to declare that if we don't agree with you 100% than we were never interested in basketball. That whole idea and thought processes is so fish bowl in awareness that shows you're in a bubble. When Caitlin starts using terms like "my truth," or "white privilege," it is so disgustingly a turn off. Just because you progressives believe in this narrative of race and sexuality and that whole thing doesn't make it so. You're smarter than this.
First they attack Tyla's identity and now they are attacking Barbara's identity. Seems like The West wants more problems with Africa.
Divisive is to break people down into races. One race. Human race. We all bleed red. Enough with the bullshit lets move on from this crap and get back to sport... you know that thing that we are all united by
Looking forward to CC Bruce lees
I need to see masked birdy coaching Seattle &%$!??%
Chen understand this ♥️, which is why she could help Sabrina
Being a dawg is a talent that should be developed but you still need to be a masked birdy, geno does understand that concept. Paige will do well in Dallas, with 2 or 3 offensive wnba first team players 😮
Tell that chi tv station bad mouthing her
Looking in from the outside (UK), the outside perception is that the USA is just broken. Every sub group against other groups. Black or White, Women or Men, Democrat or Republican, Hetero or LGBTQ. Each of these strongly appear to have been weaponised. But to what end? At the end of the day, we are all human beings! What about a little human respect. Yes, there are inherent privilege biases, and they should be acknowledged, but when people with extreme talent come along, let them shine - independent of anything else.
Whats a shame is that the greatness she built came from her natural aptitude to sports, her hours upon hours of practice , her record breaking in college, her love of basketball and sports altogether, where is the white privilege there, it's not, I tire of white people thinking they need to feel guilt over something that happened years ago. A portion of black people always use race for their own ulterior motives. The question would this happen if she were black , no, there would have been envy a bit of jealousy but no hate, because clark is white suddenly her super skill can't be celebrated, her awards are questioned , now it's because white privilege, that's what's upsetting to many fans, what other award winners had to almost apologize for winning the award. We are not racist but we see how racist so many blacks are in the league, we watch clark because she is so great, myself I am not white but I became a fan because I had never seen something like clark. Never did I think she was there because of privilege, that perception always came from people who had a problem with race. She does not deserve people trying to take away from her special light and greatness.
C.C NEEDS TO LEAVE THE WMBA .... AND GO SOMEWERE ELSE THAT THEY WANT HER .....
There is no white privilege. There are a bunch of affluent white female liberals(AWFuLs) that like to sit around and assume that they are better off because of their skin color. Poor white people struggle, its not all sunshine and lesbian haircuts over here in the real world. Stop this BS and start accepting we are all the same, we all bleed the same, and we all have to work to get better. That means, we all have to get up and go out and do a job, to make money to improve ourselves, black brown yellow red pink light tan taylor swift pale....
The jealousy of ones achievements always bring hatred
Hate won't win!!!
CC does not have white privilege. She works hard and deserves all she received. All last season ppl wanted it to be about race whereas CC just wanted to play the game. So glad she won!
CC even said herself she knows she has white privilege.
@ do you think she meant it or said it in the way they are perceiving her to have said it? In a sense she has been pressured because that's all ppl talk about. Don't really care because all those girls are privileged because they've been picked to play in the WNBA. Millions never get that chance.
Vibe check request...As someone who's watched women's hoops since the 80s, and attended my first Final Four in 1995 :-) (and was sad Sue was on the bench with a knee as a freshman at Syracuse when I watched)...but the huge growth of women's hoops/sports, which I am loving, but how it's affecting us old timers who have supported the sport for decades. The costs to attend a live Final Four or WNBA games has also exploded. Last year was the first that the NCAA public sale sold out in less than a few hours, so I went to Cleveland without a ticket! Wish there was a category for long-time attendees/supporters to get our tickets say the first hour before it goes public! Paying $1000 per ticket + fees for Ticketmaster or SeatGeek is CRAZY, and not keeping the game accessible to mainstream fans. On the other hand - having games on ABC, CBS and ESPN without streaming subscriptions does help. What do you all think? Played soccer in h.s. and hope to get to a NWSL game this year.
notre dame will be ncaa #1 when maddy comes back
I really like so much of what you have had to say. I don’t think the people who are so upset with Caitlin were ever real fans of the W or women’s sports. I really am appalled at the layer of media that profits from and promotes polarizing narratives and pushing their own political and social agendas, along with my disappointment that the ‘army of bots’ which seem to turn social media into anti-social media, Great show and great takes.
Most CC fans I’ve seen don’t really care about her or her stats and skills, they just wanna use her as a vehicle to put down lesbians and black women. CC is trying to distance herself from those kinds of “fans”.
@ Saying that about ‘most CC fans’ is a gross overstatement. Yes, it is great if CC puts bigots on notice; but they were never really what created her fan base or following. Bigots and racists aren’t putting fans in the seats, they are just loudmouths on social media.
YOU NEED TO LEARN HOW TO USE THIS WHITE PRIVILEGE SAYING IT DOESN'T BELONG IN BASKETBALL EITHER DOES RACISM RACIST REMARKS OR COMMENTS
When Caitlin Clark was drafted by the Indiana Fever she entered the WNBA her skill level that she has shown already the on court vision that she has makes her passing game mind blowing being able to hit 3 pointers also having a dangerous floor game due to being a ROOKIE and so talented she was targeted for whole ROOKIE SEASON even the referees were against her but she still was able to have the best ROOKIE SEASON in the leagues history HOW MANY TIMES SHE WAS ILLEGALLY HIT FOULS FLAGRANT FOULS ASSAULTED NOTHING WAS DONE PLAYERS ALLOWED TO GET AWAY WITH IT REFEREES DONE NOTHING NAMED ROTY WITH THE WNBA AND REFEREES TOTALLY AGAINST HER NOT ONE WARNING TO ANY PLAYER NEVER ACCUSED OF WHIE PRIVILEGE RIGHT THROUGHOUT HER ROOKIE SEASON WASN'T UNTIL TIMES MAGAZINE NAMED CAITLIN CLARK AOTY FORBES MAGAZINE NAMED CLARK IN THERE 30 UNDER 30 NOW BEING NAMED BY THESE TWO TIMES FORBES SHE HAD NO IDEA THAT SHE WOULD OF BEEN NAMED AOTY AND 30 UNDER 30 BY THE TWO MAGAZINE AND THEN WE HEARD JUST HOW MUCH PLAYERS OWNERS HATERS ARE GOING TO HATE JUST JEALOUS AS THEY BLAMED HER FOR THEM NOT BEING NAMED THEN OUT IT CAME WHITE PRIVILEGE IN THIS CASE YOUS CAN'T SAY IT'S DUE TO HER WHITE PRIVILEGE FUCK ME SHE WAS TREATED IN SUCH AWAY BY PLAYERS ALL SEASON LONG NO ONE SAID A WORD BUT YOU WIN 3 AWARDS THEY ALL HAVE SOMEONE TO SAY EVERY SINGLE ONE OF YOU ARE SO WRONG BY CAITLIN SAYING WHAT SHE DID THERE'S SOMETHING ELSE SHE'S BEING HATED FOR NOT TAKING ALL OF THE SPOTLIGHT FOR HERSELF LIKE ALWAYS SHE SPOKE ABOUT BLACK FEMALE BASKETBALL PLAYERS AND LOOK HOW ALL OF YOU STILL WANT IT ALL ABOUT YOU THE WNBA LEAGUE THERE IS NO WHITE PRIVILEGE HERE YOUR ALL GREEDY HATERS JEALOUSY LIKE NO TOMORROW IT SHOULD OF BEEN ME LOOK HOW THE PLAYERS REFEREES THE WNBA ORGANIZATION TREATED CAITLIN ALL YOU AND NIKE COULDN'T EVEN BE HAPPY FOR HER DIDN'T EVEN SAY CONGRATS THIS SITUATION NO WHITE PRIVILEGE JUST A ORGANIZATION FULL OF HATERS JEALOUSLY DISRESPECTFUL PEOPLE
The funniest thing in the world is all the people commenting online how they’ll stop watching if this or that happens as if they are actually into basketball in any way 🤣 y’all don’t fool anyone
Why are y’all not talking about the way an owner in this league is treating Caitlin? The things she said were horrible! Y’all keep saying everyone is delusional and no one in the league is jealous of Clark, but this owner just told everyone exactly that! She said the players have hard feelings towards her because of her popularity… Basically said she shouldn’t have gotten that award. This is crazy and everyone was right about how they feel about her… Speak up about that! You are activists about everything else so why do y’all not speak up, with your voices that you keep telling everyone they should use!
Nobody is taking anything away from Caitlin from a basketball perspective? You’re either delusional or a liar.
Great show. Enjoyed hearing from Clarissa.
CC has brought eyes to the WNBA why can't they just accept that? I really hope CC forgets about the WNBA and focuses on the LPGA where she will be more welcomed.
She won’t. She worked her whole life to join the W. She won’t quit just to appease your corny little feelings 😂
Both of ALL your comments on CC were so spot on. Seriously, you two should have kids. Not only for yourselves but for a better world.❤❤
ladies you need to do some cross POD stuff with Kellly O and Sammy Mewis and otbers to get the cross purposes going. Also, get on the Handsome podcast, I know it's cliche but unless I wasn't a mad Rapinoe fan I wouldn't know this was a POD or on YT. You are worthy of more.
I just can't understand why people want to hate. The WNBA players should have been happy that they finally had a chance to be seen and appreciated. Instead, they showed the new people how hateful they are.
🌽 🌽🌽
nobody hates her, they never stated they did either. fouls ≠ hating. you think the other players should just ignore the blatant disrespect, racism, homophobia, and bigotry they’ve received bc she brought “attention.” even then they’re not getting genuine attention bc all the attention they’re getting is disrespect bc everyone’s focused on “the goat” CC. 😭
@@KayCeni Other players, coaches, executives, and media members blatantly disrespected Clark. They spewed hate and attacked her verbally and physically. All that the fans did was push back against that stuff.
Wow! You are both just great. You make me proud to be a professional athlete (LPGA). You express the essence of being an athlete with such truth. This was a fabulous episode. Thank you so much.
For us people who loved watching Caitlin shoot logo threes and push the ball up the court and thought she was so exciting, these women and the WNBA have done everything they could to ruin it. I, like so many can’t believe how this has turned out.
Sue one question CC adjusted to the W after 10 games how many games is it going to take the W to adjust to CC ? We know every team is going to try and stop her by adjusting defenses will they succeed.
Of all the privileges we could name, in basketball, whiteness would rank among the least beneficial. Playing college ball at UCONN might be a privilege, being 6’4” might be a privilege and being naturally athletic might be a privilege, just to scratch the surface. If being white is the reason for her popularity, you will need to explain why white players over the last 25 years haven’t been able to attract the same attention. If you really want to know why fans appreciate her so much, all you have to do is ask.
Her white privilege has no advantage in the league maybe in life but she is not the only privileged person in the W. May not be white privilege but privileged non the less.
Caitlin is in a tough position....damned if she does, damned if she don't. No matter what she says or doesn't say somebody is going to twist it to fit their narrative or agenda. Hopefully she will let her game/character speak and keep the noise out.
About Taurasi. I sweat that first game out between Fever and Mercury. I didn't like Diana(and had never heard of her until this year) until she acknowledged CC having a bright future post game. But for many players she was right. It is a big jump. But saying that stuff definitely made winning against her a bigger goal for CC. But obviously Diana is still very good. I have rewatrched a lot of this past season over again. About bigotry I remember the shitty comments about Brittney Griner. That pissed me off. Trolls make me sick. I always push back. I didn't hit the '93 march on Washington to then later on lay down for stupid sexist bigots. I love my lesbian and "tomboy" sisters. We family.
Are you going to talk about the W gatekeepers or not? You NEVER mention them. And they're actively trying to destroy the league.
Clark's competition for Time athlete of the year were the likes of Mahomes, Wembanyama, Lyles, Ohtani and the like. Clark is the only WNBA player who belongs in this group. Besides, Clark set the WNBA on fire in the 2nd half of 2024. In the first half of 2024 she was busy setting WCB on fire. Some would argue that Clark became a beacon for the whole game of basketball (female, male, pro and collegiate). A genuine megastar and a role model for girls of all colours.
Thank you Megan and Sue for having this show and I look forward to seeing y’all in 2025. But to caveat on your comments regarding “control your narrative”, I think we definitely need a movie about the Megan Rapinoe story. That would be epic⚽💪🏽🏆 Merry Christmas ladies & countless blessings in the New Year🥳
Ya let’s take a look at the replay
