I'm gonna be honest, even if the intention of the creators is that Pearl was made to be Pink's it doesn't make sense. Why is she white? Why does she have all the colors like White Diamond does? Why is her gem at her forehead and not belly? Why is shethe one to talk about White Diamond to Steven? I also don't understand this idea that White doesn't need a Pearl. No one "needs" Pearls, Pearls don't really do anything other gems can't, their role in gem society is of status, being essentially "trophy wives." If White is at the top of the hierarchy, in fact, the one controlling it, why doesn't she have one? Why doesn't she have multiple Pearls? Why is her only Pearl the one Pink broke?

I think it's plausible that other gems didn't pay attention to her powers for the same reason why the audience didn't (atleast in my case) because we have seen gems get new powers, especially when they start believing they can be different than their original programing like in the Case with Peridot. So it made sense that Rose Quartz, leader of the rebellion, the original gem to question her programing, would have tapped into so much potential.

Regarding eyeball, too, the main reason it was so pink-red was because it was being seen through the bubble. *Everything* is pinkish-reddish when you're looking through the bubble.

To me I think the fact that pink diamonds pearl was the same pearl that rose had would’ve been a dead giveaway away pearls are loyal to their diamonds right ? So why would pink diamonds pearl side with rose after pinks shattering

My thoughts say healing powers are unknown by many or all since it wasn’t in their nature to heal. Only shatter, poof, and control

I mean, if the creators say there was no pearl swap then it didn't happen. However this is how I viewed it, White views herself as perfect and thus not needing a pearl. So she can give the perfect pearl, hers, to the most flawed diamond, pink, to make her fall in line, and then she can just control the flawed pearl and make her perfect

I think white diamond knew she was pink diamond she's just petty and was tryna wait for pink diamond to muck up so bad she'd come crawling back and admit she was just being childish and throwing a tantrum, but we know how that turned out..

Well the diamonds got rid of all the rose quartz gems once the war began, so I’ve always assumed that the general gem public hadn’t actually seen one in person before, maybe just pictures. And that’s why they didn’t think to hard about a rose quartz gem powers

It kinda makes sense in hindsight i always wonder why pearl why had a...mixed color scheme the white diamond and skin (white diamond) the pale pinkish hair ( pink diamond) the yellow star and socks (yellow diamond) and the blue shirt and shoes (blue diamond) ofc the colors are muted but still...you get the point...hopefully

Pink's abilities may have developed after she joined the rebellion so the diamonds didn't realize they were what a diamond could even do.

I can understand why yellow and blue diamond wouldn't come to the conclusion that Steven's gem is a pink diamond remember they both show signs of still being affected by the grief of what they think is pink shattering. Combined with the idea that they couldn't see their precious little sister rebelling against homeworld then they would most likely deny it. Blue diamond is openly affected by grief and hatred for Rose that can cloud her vision so she doesn't look close enough to realize the differences between Stevens gem compared to a normal rose quartz. Then there's yellow diamond she was going with the form of grief where she would try to push it down try to force herself to move past it she might realize the difference when she gets a closer look but she's more likely to deny it because she doesn't want to get her hopes up only to have her heart shatter even more

I know this was posted a long time ago but tbh the stark difference in colour palettes for our main characters is so they stand out from the side characters our peridot pearl amethyst all have extremely unique designs compared to others of their kind and our ruby and sapphire are always fused. All our main gang would probably be a lot more similar to others of their kind in a realistic scenario but it’s a cartoon so they get to be bright shades of their gems colour.

Also, it makes sense people think she's White diamonds Pearl because her outfit has the assorted colours, which is common with a prism.

In the movie we see that even after rejuvenated; All gems keep their *gem* in the same place it always is. It's very possible that White had a pearl but didn't really need it. So when taking away the Pink Pearl, White just gave her the Pearl she had but never used.

what i'm wondering is if rose quartz actually fused with the other gems other than pearl. rainbow quartz 2.0 is the only of the steven-gem jusions that has a "2.0" in their name as rose and pearl have fused. tho i may just not have the info.

I think that maybe the reaosn yellow and blue diamon didnt recognize it was because A. The idea of a gem changing there gem form let alone a diamon was something that didn't exist or seem possible and B. They never seen the top of pinks diamond, on from the side like this -> 💎 and not this -> 🔴

Im surprised nobody's mentioned that Pearl's song in the movie is called "system/BOOT,PearlFinal(3),info" Take note of fhe 3, when one would presume this is only her first time booting up on factory settings since her creation.

This reminds me of an old story I had where Noah Kaiba, after the Virtual World, awoke from a coma (this is going by dub where he was vegetative but not dead) as a young adult and assumes a new identity to avoid crossing paths with Seto again. The only differences are obviously the age, the fact that his hair got darker as he got older, him having a slightly different haircut, and him acting older and more mature due to character development (also actively trying to avoid acting like his old self out of shame AND to sell the bit). Neither Seto nor Mokuba recognize him until he outright tells them.

I still don’t exactly understand why pearl has a rainbow design.. why wouldn’t she just be a pink pearl? is it because she’s a gift from all of them and was made from all of their essence combined for more compatibility? I used to think because since she was rainbow, she was originally white’s because i liked the theory that white diamond was originally a rainbow diamond, losing her color by giving it to the gems around her

Last thing to note, diamonds cant poof, as shown from yellow trying to destabilize blue's form, so she couldnt poof, meaning no one could see the hidden part of her gem, making it easier, and during the war, pearl also protected her from other kinds of damage that could cause a poof.

Regarding recognizing a gem like you recognize a face, assuming this works through visual recognition the same way humans do with faces, it's very possible that just seeing it at an angle that you wouldn't normally see it could make it harder to recognize. If someone took a picture of the bottom of your close family member's chin angled from their chest (and with different hair, the closest human equivalent to taking a different form), you might not recognize who that is, especially if it were a context where you don't expect to see it. Like, maybe if your sibling sent you that picture, you have a good chance of guessing your mother's face from a strange angle. But if I sent it to you, you'd have no reason to even consider the possibility that that is your mom because why would it be? (no momma joke intended) In the same way, no one would even consider the possibility that that gem is Pink Diamond from a strange angle when there's no reason to consider the possibility that Steven's gem is Pink Diamond. And it makes it even harder to predict when it specifically resembles the front view of a different race of gems at that angle (carrying on the parallel, it's like if the lighting on the chin photo makes it look like she's a different ethnicity, further reducing the chance you recognize that it's her)

this is also really late but in the aspect of pink holding her shapeshift into rose, i believe after pearl poofed her pearl states that pink reforms as rose

I think it is highly probable that both pearls belonged to pink. The pearl with cracks in her face being Earth's Pearl predecessor.

i think its also worth adding that some gems, especially those on home world, might have assumed that rose was an off color because it aligned with homeworld's whole philosophy that off color gems were problem makers that needed to be dealt with. also with regard to her powers, i think on homeworld's side of things, any claims that would have reached the diamonds (who never saw the battlefield for themselves) would have been disregarded as rebel propaganda and similarly within the rebellion the vast majority of members would not have interacted with rose at length so differences in power would have went unnoticed and anything they did know about would have fit into the narrative that rose is this almost saint like figure with special abilities; whether or not these stories would have been taken entirely literally or if they were given a more folkloric quality is also possible. Many gems might have been entirely unaware of what rose quartzes could even do since they were decommissioned at some point not to mention that unless a gems purpose involved knowing the classifications of gems they might not know the details of different gem types power just in general.

Hrm... Okay. I used to believe the Pearl Swap theory, but now I like the Pearl Replacement idea pretty nicely. It's all based on what we can infer about gem culture, but let's presume that Pearls are either 1. Created by Diamonds, directly, as their personal servants 2. Created in a Kindergarten, but assigned to individual Diamonds (and color-coded appropriately) So, what could these two things mean for this theory? Depends based on which version we go with: 1. By being directly created, the Diamonds can control aspects of their formation, leading them to have different configurations/colorings. And the Diamonds being vain, Blue Yellow and Pink each made their Pearls in their own image. They matched color and gem location because that's what the Diamond willed into creation. With Pink's replacement Pearl being made by White, herself, for Pink. White would have the power to bestow such an ability, I would think, and would be able to access more of the spectrums of light (allowing our Pearl to have multi-colored outfits, whereas most gems have monotone outfits, matching their gem colors) 2. Alternatively if they come from a Kindergarten, as per normal, it could just be that they were separated by coloration, like we do with real gems. Like, how in real life, rubies and sapphires are technically both just corundum, just reacting with different stuff. However, the fact that it's an ability specific to Pearl/Pink, and not seen in any of the other Diamonds and their gems, idk how that may have come about. . . Perhaps it was White manipulating her mind, but we can't really say for certain, in this version, because the Diamonds would have a lot less direct control over Pearl's creation.

I'm definitely on the "They recognized her, but could not Possibly Imagine Pink would hide like that (Also she was dead) so they just brushed it off as an Amazingly Similar looking gem..." but my issue is that if they immediately recognize "Who" a gem is, they 'should' have also recognized "What" her gem was, so that would have blown her cover.
