Steve Davis/Allison Fisher v Stephen Hendry/Stacey Hillyard Mixed Doubles World Snooker Final 1991
มุมมอง 67K7 หลายเดือนก่อน
Taken from an old VHS, I would always recommend watching these on a computer and not a big screen TV. This was the first and only mixed doubles World Championship event played in Hamburg, Germany. A couple of frames are edited out and it also has adverts in between frames. The event returned 31 years later in 2022 when Neil Robertson and Mink Dutcharut won it. Bring this show back and get Jim and JV hosting again, that would upset a few 💀
With all the match fixing stuff these days, nothing screams not fair quite like this final.
The legendary ron harris
I tried ringing the quiz hotline at the end but was told the number doesn't exist. Typical shabby BBC trick.
Did Alex feather the white at 14:49?
Feel sorry for jimmy. Even joe Johnson has won the championship 😢
At long, long last, Jimmy gets the result every Jimmy White fan wanted to see since his defeat to Hendry in 1994.
Brian was right about the Rams' performance having an end of season look about it. You couldn't blame Tommy Docherty for giving the squad a shake-up. The problem was his replacements weren't up to scratch.😮💨.
I thought Tony might be pretty decent at Big Break.
I haven't see too many Jimmy White matches. Was he normally so vacant? He looked miles away throughout the whole video.
Honestly I just wish that these Arab oilgarchs and these Chinese gas polluters would stop colonising our sports.
I recall Willie and Alex had a bit of a run in the following year when they played in the 2nd round. Alex accused Willie of a deliberate miss!
A decent club player could have done that
Shankly did what he said he would... its currently the best team in the world.... imagine if Liverpool win the champions league... the world knows about Liverpool
So interesting. We live on the next street down from his boyhood home and my kids went to the same school. imo they should rename it after him.
Higgins best ever middle pocket player
Higgins probably best middle pocket player ever... Pity there weren't 2 more at each end
On his day no one better just not consistant
Alex very very rarely missed to middle pocket... Probably best ever
7.27....what a shot superb
That 142....by higgy.... Class
Alex so good to watch. Pots balls that other players simply wouldn't attempt. Belfast genius
Some shots here that nobody but Alex could take on and pot..... Genius
That geezer brought jimmy white down to his level, which made it a poor match Never saw that other player before, so i assume how he played was normal for him.
Cliff Wilson had one good eye and heart trouble, he died 2 years after this. He was one of the best potters in the game when on song and beat Ronnie O'Sullivan 9-8 in the UK a month after this match after being 4-1 down with Ronnie showing him little respect. In his career he beat Jimmy White, Joe Johnson, Tony Knowles, Ken Doherty, Doug Mountjoy and Mike Hallett. He was in the top 16 in the 1988/89 season. So no, that geezer didn't play this way all the time!
who beat the nugget this year
@@ianwilliamson2980 Griffiths 9-6 QF
@@digeme69 thanks nice one.terry was hard to beat
The red clearly moved!
At 18.24, simply Alex Higgins all over. No one else in this era would have played that shot. Not even Jimmy White. This is why Alex Higgins alone brought the game to the masses early doors and brought it to the television bosses attention. Even one of the greatest players ever Steve Davis has often said if it was not for Alex the game may never have even taken off.
Seeing David Icke like that is like seeing Jesus as a carpenter! 😂
The Knowles one was a fluke .
It wasn't as he played the red onto the plant. Also, look where he left the white. He didn't play back to baulk.😊
Thanks , Clive was a great men in snooker history he had a special voice , r I p Clive we never forget you , Henri put Belgium 🇧🇪
That music!
1:01:14 would Jimmy have boffed this on purpose so Cliff wouldn’t get whitewashed? And at 1:02:15 with the next ball! Reminds me of Denny McLain grooving one to his boyhood hero, Mickey Mantle.
Reardon was slipping from 83 onwards, he brought a lot of joy to us all
Question for anyone who can remember this era or earlier, they didn't used to have minutes silences for war remembrance before the game did they? It's a modern thing isn't it? That or it's edited out.
Why can't they do shows like this and the generation game on telly anymore, you could have your tea, and sit down and watch as a family, now it's a load of rubbish
Clive Everton the legend 👊👍
Enjoying this upload.
What did Jim Davidson actually do?.
Get drunk and express his thinly veiled nonsense?
😂😂@@DavG88
I never noticed how drunk they were while recording. 🤣
So Ebdon can play quicker What a joke . Glad he don’t play no more
Indeed
ITV4 are showing season 84/85 at the end of November
Yes, I heard that too, will be good to see some different ones from the usual repeats
The good old days of football, when it was cheap to go in relation to a persons salary and was a good day out. Wouldn't pay today to watch any of the teams.
Couldn't agree more
Enjoyed watching this, Many Thanks for upload
Alain is one of the nicest guys you could meet and doesn't really get the credit he deserves. Suppose a lot of it is down to the O’Sullivan fan boys getting on his case after he refused to shake Ronnie’s hand.
Had the pleasure of knowing, Clive. A beautiful human being and a humble man who dedicated his life to improving the game - and succeeded. Not to mention the best commentator of them all! Rest in peace Clive ❤
Ray must have been some player to be able to beat 62 year old Fred.
That blue was in to make it £440 in the 2nd round. The BBC are tight as... Plus Jim took that tenner back after the trick shot!
It wasn’t in the blue pocket
Higgins was well gone here, but he played really well. Reminds me of when Clive Everton said that he was the best player drunk that he ever saw.
Shame he was snubbed for years. 6 years I think it was
