The other day, I went to the NYMR. It was a great day, with some fast trains - although the Whitby train was a tad late! Either way, here's the video I filmed whilst there. Enjoy! A week ago, I went to the Talyllyn for a week of volunteering. Due to my roles, I couldn't take many videos, but I managed to get a couple of shots on days when I finished early, and here they are - including a rather long shunt with Alf! Enjoy! Llechfan Garden Railway - Driver's Eye View June 2024
มุมมอง 1.2K14 วันที่ผ่านมา
A few years ago, I made a driver's eye view of Llechfan, but there was a problem - it was crap. To right old wrongs, here's a new and updated version, with a camera placed on a slate wagon and pushed around by my Lady Anne, covering both loops! Hope you enjoy!
Middleton Railway - 9th June 2024
มุมมอง 27714 วันที่ผ่านมา
A couple of months, Sir B went off to Beamish. Whilst there, she broke down - the exact cause was unknown, but believed to be a serious defect with the cylinder block. With this in mind, she went back off to Middleton, with all of us quite tense, with the prospect of her being out of service for a good few months and a very expensive repair looking likely, we were all intensely relieved when we...

Talyllyn Railway - Children's Day, 30th May 2024
มุมมอง 86521 วันที่ผ่านมา
Whilst I was at the Talyllyn last week, they held an event called 'Children's Day,' with all the engines donning faces for the day, and events down at Aber for children to enjoy, all capped off with a station shuttle at Aber with 1 and 9 (or Skarloey and Fred) running up and down the platform. It was a pretty interesting event with the faces, so I took a few shots, and here they are! Filming sp...

The other week, I went to the Fairbourne steam gala. It was a great gala, with Ruislip Lido's 'Mad Bess' being the star of the show, along with 'Count Louis' running along their 15" gauge track, hauling their heritage coaches, and a model railway tent at the Ferry end. All in all, a great gala, and I hope you enjoy the video! Filming spots: www.google.com/maps/d/edit?mi... My band: / indignatio...

Nice to see ‘Talyllyn’ in action.
She looks very nice! Put a few more behind her, get more of a bark 😂
The blue 31 and 37 and EWS 31 looks amazing!!!
Agreed, I'm pretty sure the 37 had just been repainted too!
@@PHsRailwayVideos No wonder it looks so clean
@@pacermanthefan Indeed!
Great video. Like me !!!!!
Thanks!
Stuart & Falcon
Indeed!
Interesting shots. What's your volunteer role(s) ?
Thanks! I do mostly lineside work currently, like slate fencing and such, but I want to do more than that, so that week I was trying out various roles, including cleaner and assistant guard.
Remind me not to get a ticket for that railroad. 🤣🤣
I'm sure the ride isn't that bad!
@@PHsRailwayVideos 😁😁😁👍👍
Nice! It's too bad there is no picture of your train/loco!
Thanks! If you're interested, this is the loco on my own line! th-cam.com/video/TF3OMsj1XJU/w-d-xo.html
It looks like the track maintenance gang have been shirking their duties.
There'd actually been quite a lot of clearing before this video - a month ago the line was a different story!
This is fun to watch! I hope the driver was survive after 6 accidents
Thanks! I'm still here, but let's just say the railway may need some new employees!
We had a great time making this video!
Indeed, it didn't turn out as badly as I thought it would either!
Nice shots there, it is an exceptionally pretty engine
Thanks, it really is!
Hey nice video! I bet you won’t recognise who I am. I changed my channel name
Alfie?
@@PHsRailwayVideos yup
Little bit too much steam by the looks of it!
Just a tad!
The engines look as good ever! I like your selection of linesiding locations! :)
Thanks - there are some great lineside locations at TR!
Lovely shots mate! I must admit I am a bit jelous that you could go and I couldn't 🥲 Looks like it was quite a busy day!
Thanks! Shame you couldn't make it, but there'll be more! It was a busy day, especially the first couple of trains, but it quietened down after the first few.
Wow that looked like a fantastic day! Shame about 7 failing, it did sound unhappy on that clip of it leaving maespoeth Really good shots!
Thanks! It was a great day, although the car ride home was exceedingly wet! The shot of 7 leaving Maespoth was the trip it failed on - I did think it sounded like it was working exceedingly hard, and clearly it was!
top vid of a top day - cheers man :)
Thanks! It certainly was a great day - it must've been even better from the footplate!
wonderful.
Haha yeah that face really doesn’t work on 2!🤣🤣
Duncan’s face on Rheneas!
Yeah, still better than Nick Cage though!
@@PHsRailwayVideos I think that's actually Smudger. Smudger appeared at last year's Awdry Extravaganza in Rheneas' place.
You can tell that the new faces were designed to only fit their respective engines 😂
A quality video, thank you.
Thanks!
The lister is also called Gwril confusingly😁
Didn't know that, shame I can't edit it now!
@@PHsRailwayVideos I think it was the original Gwril, then was sold and replaced eventually by the new Gwril, then returned to the railway and so now there are 2 Gwrils 😁🤷
Ah, that makes sense
I gotta say, Talyllyn looks great in blue
You know, I think blue’s a nice color for a train. Especially one that is almost 170 years old.
Agreed, it looks even better in person!
Very good vid !
Thanks!
Nice video. LIKE!!!!!
Thank you!
Just spotted our sound designer in the open coach alongside No1 :D.
Nice - I can't even make out who's in the open I'll confess!
Some really nice shots Peter, great video.
Thanks!
Lovely clip. Thank you. From the looks if the gleaming carriages, I'm guessing not catching an unwanted reflection is more tricky than ever these days! No.1's GER finery sits well indeed .with the stardard carriage livery. For a while there, at Wharf, I thought No.3 had been re-engined.🙂
Many people online seem to dislike 1s new livery but I think it is absolutely gorgeous, having seen some of the work that went into it as well makes it even more stunning.
Thank you! The TR's carriages are really well kept, probably some of the cleanest in Britain! 1's new livery is beautiful, I'll admit I had my reservations but seeing it in the flesh really changed my mind.
@@QuarrySteam I can see where they're coming from if they haven't seen it in person - up close though it really does look georgous!
When you pull up to Ace Hardware and ask for 60 gallons of charcoal
where is this England
In the the Peak District, Midlands - around 20 miles south of Sheffield
That Ivatt/BR std 2 is just brilliant
Agreed, I love it! (and it is a standard!)
I always get the 2 mixed up so I just say both
@@pacermanthefan I know what you mean, they do look nearly identical! The way to tell is if the top feed has a cover or not - the standards don't but the Ivatts do.
@@PHsRailwayVideos ah alright
"Driver's eye view"? Was the driver sitting on the rear buffers of the last coach?
The length of his optic nerve will surprise you!
@@MrAlex3461 1500 microns (or 1.5 millimeters) Google is my friend
No, they were propelling - but you can imagine!
What are the instructions that the guard keeps relaying to the driver??
"Keep setting back; keep setting back"
@@PHsRailwayVideos Thanks that's interesting! So I guess the meaning is like "keep on reversing". The driver would not have a clear view of the track, but the guard does.
@@Firenzaman Exactly - there's no run-round loop at Matlock, so the loco has to push the coaches to one half a mile up, and the end coach has a window through which the guard can see. A really interesting system, and the only one of its type I've ever seen!
Great shots. You must know all the boingy track in Britain; with the help of that telephoto lens of course.
Thanks! This line is definitely quite bouncy, as it's another ex-industrial - as a volunteer there, however, I take some of the blame!

Hey Peter, lovely footage. Seems like Per- I MEAN Swanscome No. 6 has been pulling a lot of the steam passenger trains recently, what's going on with Sir Berkeley and Brookes No. 1?
Thanks! Sir B's having a rest after a visit to Beamish, and Brookes is just undergoing routine maintenance, so No. 6 has been covering most services.
That vintage set is gorgeous!
Agreed, it looked even better in person!
Wow some lovely carriages, I've seen 3 axle, 6 wheel carriages before but I haven't seen 3 axle bogies i.e. 12 wheel carriages has anyone any background on this carriage? Thanks
They really are beautiful coaches, they look even better in person! I think the coach you're referring to is an ex-Lancashire & Yorkshire Railway director's saloon from 1906. Edit: Here's the line's old website, it has some info on the coach - www.embsayboltonabbeyrailway.org.uk/oldsite/vintaget.html#:~:text=This%20carriage%20was%20built%20in,Middleton%20to%20its%20original%20condition.
Thank you so much for visiting and videoing your day at the railway. Do come and see us again soon!
No problem, it's a lovely line! I'm a northerner though, so unfortunately I can't say when the next time I'll be there is! Do you volunteer there?
@@PHsRailwayVideos I was the fireman on 828 that day. Thank you, we do our best to keep it all up together.
@@Simplex1988 Brilliant! I'm a volunteer on the Middleton Railway in Leeds, I hope to be at that level some day - still need the hours though! I bet it was hard coordinating the propelling, I've never had to do something like that!
Was the Track laid by Americans? Good enough for this game little Engine - No6, The Prisoner or built by Players?
Now that is quite lucky to have a miniture railway in the garden!
Yeah, I wish I did!
I have been on that train in Middleton, It is a credit to all that are involved.
Thank you! I'm actually an active volunteer there, I'll make sure to pass your feedback on - we do work hard!
Very entertaining. Good shots along the line. I see they have the same rail joint issues as the RHDR. Maybe it's all sand . .
Thanks! I'm not sure the line's even been relaid since it was industrial, so some of the joints are quite bad - all the funner to ride on though!
6th like and also subbed
Thank you!
They were a great addition to the WSMT fleet in Scotland in the mid to later 60s, when I worked there.. They did great service on the main route from Glasgow to the Ayrshire coast, I think all were Alexander bodied and, in my opinion, much smarter than the absolute flat fronted ones eleswhere,
Yeah, they seem quite versatile engines! Did you work on BR?
Don't think I'd fancy bowling along through a Scottish highland winter in 828's open cab. Was that bloke at 4:20 pointing at you ? "Look! - there's another of those bloody youtubers - check your zips lads . . ." Yet another line I've never visited . . . Lot of shunting going on. Great shots again though ..
Thank you! I imagine 828 wasn't the best loco to work on in the Scottish weather - lovely on the Spa Valley though! I don't think he was pointing at me, I think he was pointing at the hat that fell off the bridge when the train came in. Still, it's amusing to imagine!
I went down whilst I was in the area last August. Eridge is a very unique station as it is used 50/50 by Southern & the SVR
@@terrier_productions Yeah, that's why 73140 had to be propelled when it broke down outside of the platform!
Super video :)
Thanks!
Happy Birthday Peter! I hope you've had a great day, but I also want to say thanks personally. It's amazing to see how much your channel has grown, how you've gone from 400-600 subs in just over a year! This has really inspired my channel and helped me to keep going, and hopefully you'll get monetized soon. Also it's amazing to see how far your band has come (I still have the 1 in 11 Give the Teddies What they want CD) to even performing gigs! Anyways hope you had a great day.
Thank you! My channel has really grown recently, I'm really happy with how it's going - you're doing really well too, roughly 300 views a video! It's great to hear I've inspired you, thank you! The band's going great too, we've got an album and a single out, and have recorded a second! I saw Mrs Williams earlier today, and she said she'd tell Mr Alston to pay me for the album (he never did!) Have a great day too!
That pannier double header! Hellfire!
Yeah, it was great!
Fabulous. I actually thought the pannier tank at 1:00 was a model!
Thanks! The panniers looked even better in person!
