Fly fishing in BC, Canada
Searching for delicious Dungeness crabs during low tide
In this video I bring my wife, my baby daughter, and meet up with my friend Ryan to go beach wading for Dungeness crabs. I struggled to find any males of the right size, but I am very fortunate to have good friends :)

Fly fishing beautiful trout lakes in Whistler, BC
มุมมอง 62114 วันที่ผ่านมา
In this video I go fly fishing on a couple of Whislter, BC lakes for pretty trout while on vacation at Nita Lake Lodge with my wife and kiddo. I meet up with my friend Finn and fly fish Alpha Lake in the evening and finally hook and catch some pretty trout. There is a little exploring of a new creek inflow area on a new lake that at some times of year has good bull trout fishing, but in summer ...
Fly fishing a nice trout lake & counting fish with friends
มุมมอง 1.4Kหลายเดือนก่อน
In this video I invited my Discord community to come fishing at a popular, stocked rainbow trout lake up in the forested hills. At this time of year (late fall) it fishes quite well, if you can find the fish. We were counting fish, and while the bait chuckers (shame!) landed the most trout, everyone got on the board and had a blast fishing in the cold and rain. Thank goodness for coffee! Thanks...
Exploring a small stream and enjoying the water with my niece 🤙 😎

In this video I'm hanging out with my niece Emma for our yearly fly fishing / splashing in the river water small stream adventure! We throw some flies, hook a couple of fish but lose them, splash in big puddles, see a chill doe deer, and generally just have a good time. I was fishing my Chrome Strike Outfitters (CSO) rods #brandambassador and nearly had a good fight on the 8 wt Stave rocking st...
First cast curse on the Capilano River: new Korker boots & single hand spey setup
มุมมอง 2.3K3 หลายเดือนก่อน
In this video we venture deep into the Capilano River canyon through dense rainforest to go fishing for coho salmon. The morning turns wet with heavy rain and hail despite warm temperatures, and we get to witness a creek waterfall expand to ten times its normal size! I catch what I think is a cutthroat trout on my first cast, which becomes a curse as I don't hook anymore fish and Ryan and Jacob...
Ambleside Beach fly fishing for Salmon
มุมมอง 4.3K4 หลายเดือนก่อน
In this video, I am once again trying my luck at Ambleside Beach fly fishing for Pink Salmon and Coho Salmon. This was August 2023 and being an odd year, pinks were around in decent numbers at the time. I was still testing the CSO 8wt Stave fly rod and I also had some company from new and old friends from my Discord fishing group. Ian caught a pink salmon while testing my rod and fly setup, so ...
The Bow River GRIND is a beautiful thing
มุมมอง 6K6 หลายเดือนก่อน
In this video I am back fly fishing the Bow River around Calgary, Alberta, while out visiting family in the summer. This video spans 3 separate trips out at 3 different spots. The first day I met up with an early supporter and now friend, Rhetzky, who hooked the only fish, a nice looking 14-16 incher, on my streamer rod - sadly to lose the fish a few seconds later. We got the drone up in the ai...

It was a really fun day! Tough and cold conditions but made it work
thanks for your generosity buddy :)
where is this?
pacific ocean (Im sorry, DM me somewhere)
When was this isnt the water freezing rn?
haha yeah this was earlier in year. baby makes editing time tough!
Nice underwater shots.
Thanks Ian!
Looking for whitefish tactics. It's the only fish I can target and take home to the missus on a fly in the winter. Appreciate it!
sorry for late reply. I think small egg flies drifted along bottom (split shot) under indicator is the way I know best! walking speed riffley water, aka most 'good looking' runs
@@RosinFlyFishing copy that! thanks and Merry Christmas 🙏
This is bc in December?
Nah that's from August I'm just making videos when I can with an 11 month old 😅
@ haha I was gonna say! I need to move down there if that’s the case this Alberta weather isn’t it😭
@drewmazda haha well the lower mainland is pretty darn mild all year ;)
Stillwater fly fishing is quite underrated, good job and beautiful trout!
I enjoy it more when I catch fish haha
Great to see this video, @rosinflyfishing Finn is a natural, with golden touch for catching fish. Looking forward to seeing you soon!
haha yeah he is skilled!
Ahhh the old 10 last casts eh? Lovely surprise to wake up to a new video and as a reminder of those halcyon summer days...... Was the hatch possibly a travelling sedge? They are usually 1/2 to 1 inch long and leave a wake.
I'm not sure anyone in history has adhered to the last cast(s) rules haha. maybe sedge or caddis, maybe mayfly, really not sure!
I know the thumbnail needs editing... I'll get around to it 😂
love the excitement when you see that fish nail the insect. That's always a fun sight to see for sure
haha yeah it was sick!
That was an awesome time and a great video!
I had lots of fun Finn!
Beautiful troutyy
very pretty :)
Looks like you guys had a great time. Why does it feel like the best hatches start when you have to leave soon?
Yeah it was fun watching the fish jump!
Yeaaa plenty of fish there
It helps when they are hungry haha
What type of gloves?
Nitrile Gloves! I still keep them wet for handling 🤙
That was a cold cold day but company and catching made it great!
Haha accurate
Where is this in BC?
North Vancouver 🤙
Where is this?
Sorry mate 🫣
@ Could I have a clue? I just started fly fishing.
Im going there tomorrow, what depth should I set my fly at
Start at 4 foot. Work straight out from the dock to the West, or North. If no bites, try 8 foot :)
What color of leech works best? I was using a blue balanced leech but didn’t get any action
@peenorf did it have a hot spot? Bright color beads are very important
@peenorf did it have a hot spot? Bright color beads are very important !
@RosinFlyFishing the Hotspot seemed to be over by the wood part of the dock and in that little closed off section from the dock. There were people catching fish everywhere but I couldn't seem to get one on.
It's good to see you all, out there catching some trout!
Was a good time 🤙
Ah I remember that morning! Cold, wet, and I was the only one not catching a thing :D
Lol oh no!!!
Yeah fishing those lighter lines is tough on the lake.
Yeah this was a new rod for me at the time, but to be honest when I moved the indicator closer to my fly I was able to bomb it out pretty far. A slightly stiffer rod than my previous one but still medium action, just needs that touch more weight to get extra distance
This should be a derby. Just saying. Pass along the YT earnings as prize money. That's the way. Let me know and I might show up to win the 1st prize cash out.
We had a prize for most caught just not put on camera. If it was YT earnings people would be very disappointed lol
@@RosinFlyFishing and you didnt invite me..😤
Yea a new video! A great day with good peeps.
woohoo I'm alive!
Those fish didn't stand a chance! Good to see a fresh one from you 🎉🎉
haha not from the meat chuckers anyway
May I ask which lake you are at?
Rice Lake in north vancouver, it's a good time :)
it's mentioned in the video.
@@RosinFlyFishing Thanks my friend. :)
@@RosinFlyFishing I heard you mention something about a discord? How would I gain access
@@nickamado Link in video description, or DM me on IG :)
Nice! When I was there I was using a worm with trout scent on it and didnt catch anything what are you guys using?
honestly just go for straight worms/shrimp if using bait! if you see where those guys destroyed... it was straight out from the corner of the dock ;)
Rematch a year later! Let's see the baby Bjorn setup you talked about!❤
haha maybe in spring ;)
That was quite the rainy day. Glad a lot of people caught
Nobody skunked! It was great fishing with old and new friends
Great to see you out Rosin ! Getting cold now!
this video is my motivation to get out and throw a line in. haven’t caught shit but smolts since i moved here for school 4 months ago. today is the day
Haha good luck dude! Cap is tough (for me) but if you're in those deep pools, get your fly DEEP and then strip back in quick. GL!
@ Yeah it is tough for sure haha, definitely fish there though. The canyon makes it hard using a fly, i feel like I’d do a lot better with a spin rod. not as fun though lol
I don't know if you did already, but can you try fishing ambleside inlet to capilano please....
I didn't get to do it this year, but hopefully next!
@@RosinFlyFishing Looking forward to it!
I'm looking forward to the next Pink run in the Skagit, in early Autumn 2025.
I am very excited for 2025 Pink run in the lower mainland, and maybe I'll even get over to the island for beach fishing 🤙
Great job. You’re a natural teacher. One question: what kind of gloves are you using while fishing. Obviously you’re a cold climate so they they must be keeping your hands. I assume both dry and warm?
Thank you for the kind words :). I use Nitrile gloves occasionally, to keep my hands warm/dry when it's cold. But I still wet them for touching fish! They don't harm the fish at all though
Is this lynn creek?
I can't say the system on YT but if you message me I can give you some info on places to fish this time of year :)
I am new to fly fishing. I am 12 and I am trying to find a few spots on the vedder that I can fly fish. Any advice?
Aww sorry mate, I'm kind of bad at fly fishing 😂 but really I don't fish Vedder much. Try DMing Fishing with Rod or Petr Herman on IG. They might give you a common spot!
😂 people are way to serious and can’t see the joke.
😂 it's entertaining
I tried fly fishing for coho for the first time last week. It was kind of crazy, I put on a little green fly and withing a half hour I had 3 hatchery coho and a chum landed. It's always exciting to try something new and have success. I have now landed 10 salmon on that same little fly. We should do a colab in a week or two out on the Veder and maybe you can teach me something.
That's great Petr, nice job! My 9 month old daughter has me very occupied these days, maybe some day down the road we can meet up and fish. Good luck out there 😊
I just picked up an Echo Lift…great rod!
Oh great! It has treated me well on some decent salmon :)
im sorry in "season 3" that guy on the net......and its a long handle net..... omg
haha it wasn't the best net job I've ever seen for sure
you know you cant fly your drone in fish creek provincial park, right?
I plead the fifth. If it's not in an illegal airplane zone (which dji automatically stops you from flying in) I may or may not use my own discretion on occasion
i was just going to say have you gone back to burnable lake i want to know my family is moving to the area want i want to show my nef a good spot to fish
Burnaby can have fish but there are much prettier places to take your family! Do you have boat or will you fish from the bank?
Man I miss that creek! That highwater looked really good. Great video, always good making memories👍👍
Thanks man! Wish I had more time with streamers that day haha
Love your videos man!!! Is this the jumpingpound creek?
Thanks for the kind words! ❤️ Nope it's not but msg me on IG or email if you want to know 🤙 Jumpingpound is on my to-do list though!
Really nice to see you fishing with your niece. Soon it will be your daughter, I am sure.
Yes I think so! But not too soon 😄 I like her little!
