Delaware Defense Day 2024 at Fort Miles
มุมมอง 38หลายเดือนก่อน
While visiting Cape Henlopen State Park in Delaware I stumbled across an unbelievable special event. Delaware Defense Day is a once a year World War II reenactment celebrating the history of Fort Miles and all of the coastal artillery batteries that protected the East Coast of the United States during World War II. Reenactors, 1940s music and lots of guns made for a great day of remembrance of ...

One of the spookiest places I’ve ever visited. You will be amazed and horrified by the story of the Trans Allegheny Lunatic Asylum. From its inception as a place of healing for the mentally ill to its transformation into an absolute institution of horror and torture. This is a place to learn from, and hopefully never be forgotten.

Annapolis Rocks Overlook on the Appalachian Trail
The little cannon near the end is called a mortar, and was used to fire explosive shot at a high angle against close in targets. In a siege it would be dug in close to the wall.and then used to lob shells over the wall to hit the troops inside. From inside the fort it would be used to hit attacking infantry units.
Thank you for the detailed feedback. I enjoy learning about the different tactics of the civil armies. Very helpful.
Christ Millennial Reign. You are living in Satan little season of deception.

@@MichaelMilligan-wb8ty Got a better explanation?
Love the video!
Glad you enjoyed it!
It is nice, most people get nothing from it but it is beautiful place
Sorry, fake history. No way that building was built in 7 years with horse and wagon and hand tools in New England winters
It’s actually correct. Construction was begun in 1871 and completed in 1878. It was possible to construct in this time frame, especially when it’s going to be a State Capitol Building.
@MichaelMilligan-wb8ty Sorry, I manage infrastructure projects and deal with Town Councils in the wealthiest County in the country who can't agree on the color of a logo, so I know what's involved in the building process and the cooperation and funding of it. And also the supply chain, I have equipment, parts and materials that in this modern era of 24/7 delivery with non stop trucking, trains, ships and even drones and I still have to wait months to have it delivered. Everyone can make their own opinions I just happen to have some real life context.
My church was next to it and I always wondered what it was
Good video. Interesting place.
Derby NY, Irving NY, Delaware, Stanton VA,
I wish Roger Penske wouldve kept his ownership of the track 😞
I really wanna go out there n explore it just to see whats left of the finishline, victory lane and old logos...seems like a nice place for a photoshoot. Damn near every abandoned track i really would love to visit
I live 5 minutes from there! When I was a kid back in the 50's I was fascinated by the spinning antennae as we drove by! The past few months they began clearing all the land to make way for another warehouse. From what I've heard, they might be keeping the antennae platforms up for history. Or maybe too expensive to take down!
Cool structure. It’s a shame it’s in the present condition. I wouldn’t place hope in anything ever happening to it, besides its destruction. If people are exploring it, and folks get hurt due to their exploration, the government will finally move to get it eradicated. It’s a shame, as it is a very unique building.
You definitely need to be observant where you place your feet while going through as there are holes in the floor and exposed rebar to get cut on.
No reliable public transportation there. Not all tourists wish to drive. That's the problem with Miami Dade overall. It has great attractions but how would tourists and workers a like commute to that location?
Yeah it ova wit
look at all that exposed rebar , that thing will collapse one day . 10/10 dont reccomend anyone go in there.
Agreed, I was pretty nervous going in there but….
Thank you
TV and radio were in a booth at the top of the grandstand.
Wonderful job John! Very informative and excellent editing with this video 😊 really enjoyed it
Glad you enjoyed it. Thanks for watching. Please check out some of my other videos. I really do spend a lot of time editing them to make them worthwhile for people to view.
I spend every Christmas in the cabin @ 1:15. My girlfriend and I started that during Covid.
It’s a beautiful area. Who do you contact for the cabin rental?
Open your eyes
Awesome tour. Been to the capitol once but sadly never went inside, thanks for giving me a look into it
Glad you enjoyed. Check out some of my other state capitol videos.
About 25-30 years ago, me and a few friends got up on top of those radar platforms. It was very scary up there! The concrete was crumbling and you could see through it in spots. It swayed in the wind. I can only imagine how it is now. We also went down into base in Sicklerville. We built a rope ladder and went down the air shaft. It was huge. 2 stories deep and the blast doors were enormous.
Old payphone spot? Was that a joke?
Baltimore harbor tunnel
Emergency meant to be closing tunnels and then they cant drive inside
I think that was a hospital i heard of it that was sad terrible what happened to those patients R.I.P. to them u did a wonderful job on the video
Thank for watching and the kind words. I hope you will continue watching my other videos.
It was a surprise and at the same time refreshing to see this site virtually graffiti free after all these years. Thanks for the interesting tour.
It was really fun going there I took a tour
The tours are very interesting and educational, definitely worth the time and money.
Ooohhhhhh you trespassing
When I was a young child, my father, a newspaper editor, used to take me up to see the Nike Missiles in Erial, NJ. Always loved to go see them! Thanks for the video!
There's one in Old Bridge also abandoned.
There was another one in Piscataway. I went there as a cub scout on a tour.
im getting old. i remember when i tent camped and put my tent on a nice moss covered ground. no air matress. i guess they figure everyone has one now that they've made the sites all stone and boards.
This is our favorite campsite. Beware though that in the cooler months its colder on the water. As the water rushes by you get a little cold breeze. Awesome in the summer but I froze my butt off hammock camping in October. 22 degrees that night and the sound of rushing water make you want to pee every couple hours. lol
Nice vid. I was there many moons ago... ('94?). I walked beyond the logjam and followed the lake to where the three waterfall streams come together on the other end and feed the lake. I had my fishing rod, of course. Found a spot with a day-old pile of grizz scat. Threw out a line and caught some really nice cutthroats... All the while singing with gusto The Ballad of Jed Clampett and Day Tripper. Fortunately, no bears. Thanks for the memory. sw
There's the DOD place in Carneys Point also. But i heard the land is contaminated.
Great video!!!
Cold War Era stuff. Very historic
you should check out the DoD next
I went to the high school around the corner. We used to go out here to engage in nature's delight with products from the gas station next to that dunkin. Good times great spot. Many of our parents also enjoyed this place.
Kingsway? The whole route 322 corridor is being destroyed with all of those damn warehouses. The farms are slowly being erased.
@gregggoss2210 OH yeah, all of South jersey now! They never did that entertainment place they were supposed to across from the highschool.
Absolutely amazing! I don't believe it was built in the 1800's however. Maybe founded in the 1800's Thanks!
Just looked it up to verify. According to Connecticuthistory.org the current state capitol was built between 1872-1879
And don't you find that laughable 😅. That would mean it took 7 years to built that amazingly megalithic building structure@@getoutexplorewithjohn5512
@@getoutexplorewithjohn5512Do you have an opinion or knowing on the matter? What makes more sense to you
🎯 Correct ❗
Always fake background stories in these old world buildings.
I was there years ago with my wife and kids, and we climbed to the top too. A little scary up there, with huge drops on either side. I remember those views like it was yesterday. An interesting thing happened when we were about 2/3 of the way up the switchback trail. Two Marine Corps Harriers came flying the valley doing a low level practice flight. They were right at eye level with us, but in the middle of the valley. The second one was about 10 seconds behind the first. That was very cool. We also toured a cavern in the area. Overall, we had a great time that day, and I can definitely recommend visiting.
Thanks for sharing your story. That must have been awesome to see.
I just did this one and the hidden tunnel too. Did you know that the highest point in GA - Brasstown Bald is 2.5 hour drive away? I did that one too. It's a short steep paved up like this one. The views were awesome!
I commented on your Mount Davis vlog and wanted to thank you for this vlog too. This will be my second stop. Great video!
Awesome, thank you so much for watching. I’m glad you enjoyed them. Stay tuned for more like this.
Great videos!!
Thank you for watching!
I am planning a cross country adventure for next spring, starting with Mount Davis, the high point of PA being my first stop. Thank you for this informative and a great vlog! 😊
Glad you like the video and good luck on your journey.
Beautiful views and I am happy you made it to the top!!! Congratulations!
Thank you very much!
I don’t have any plans at this time. I definitely on my list. Do you have any suggestions?
Was the trail closed? How does that work? Are you allowed to get as far as you can even if it is closed?
Yes, the trail was closed at the snow fields. I went a little bit farther but it just wasn’t worth the risk to go any further. That’s when I turned around.
Are you considering exploring upper michigan?
Where was this taken? Frederick, Maryland?
