Thanks for watching!
Great hike! Really enjoyed the video. What incredible views above those clouds...gorgeous.
Thanks! It’s an incredible place
This was awesome!!
Thank you!!
Great video! When did you hike the trail?
Thanks! I hiked it in July/August of 2022
Thanks lovely jan 2 we will follow
Amazing you’ll have a great time!!
Great videos, love the scenic shots! I'm planning to hike the very first 2 islands with my pal and you definitely persuaded me to start with Lanzarote. I need to drink at least 3-4 litres a day but somehow these desert barren places just amaze me. Happy trails! 🙋♂️
Thanks for the comment! And amazing, you’ll have a great time. Are you wild camping? Regardless will be a great trip !
Hi interested in doing this trail may 25 Would it be better to walk Broadford North rather than how you did it? Phil
Hi Phil. I would play it by ear and keep an eye on the weather reports. If weather is good early in your hike = start up north. Or vice versa if weather is good later on. I’ve had a lot of people say they were happy to do the toughest section (the ridge) towards the start. But each to their own. It will be fantastic either way
Well done. Haste ya back
I need to asap!! 😂
Just did a variation of this. They sell screw on gas cannister in Corralejo at the ferreteria on the main street near the bus stop near SPAR super market.
Great to know!! Thanks
What a beautiful hike! Thanks for sharing!
Thanks for commenting! 👌
Was looking to Buy the copper spur, how tall are you and do you recommend the 1p over 2p?
I’m 6ft1. I’ve never used the 2p, just the 1. It is pretty tight in there, only just enough room to put some of my electronics next to me at head height. Length wise it is great
Nice gear overview. Just fyi....that isn't the jetboil minimo 😉
Good spot! Micromo* 🤦♂️
Hi Jack, I purchased the same tent recently for warmer weather camping abroad and I was always concerned about the pole snapping how did you repair it and what was the long term fix ie perminant repair or replacement, thanks.
Hey! I contacted big Agnes and they were really good about it - they sent me a new tent pole set to replace it :)
Try the Nemo Tensor mats Jack, wide, long, light and they don’t rustle like the NeoAir mats. Glad you enjoyed our little WHW mate. 👌🏼
Cheers Doug! Will check them out. Special place you have up there
@@jackbrookesThank you brother, we certainly think so. Slàinte mhath. 🥃
Looking forward to watching the Cape Wrath Trail. Apparently it's tough.
I’ve heard it’s a slog. Has to be done though 😅
@@jackbrookes It's really remote Scotland. GPS device, just in case.
Nicer overview.
Thanks Garry
@@jackbrookes your WHW overview was excellent. I have forwarded this to many people, when they ask about the WHW. I did the WHW myself shortly afterwards, I found your overview actually quite accurate. It was indeed, not easy. Quite a variation actually. There should be a disclaimer for the Loch Lomond part, that was damn hard work, oh for the luxury of having 20 m of straight path! Anyway, glad you like Scotland. We have a lovely little corner that is so easy to access and use for camping. Nice to see so many people coming from all over the world.
ah finally another video! thank you! Did WHW this summer. IT WAS INCREADIBLE!
They’re coming, slowly 😅 amazing isn’t it!!
Very nice, Jack 🙂
Thanks Petr :)
May I ask are there midges along the entire trail or just the specific part of the trail?
Yes there were sections where they were terrible - especially the last day along the old military road
Did GR131 La gomera in 2023, tenerife sea to summit in 2024, now planning the GR131 in La palma for a couple of weeks time. Great informative video!
Thanks! Incredible islands :)
As an amateur hiker, I absolutely loved this trip and would do it again. Hardest day was day 1. Took me 10 hours😢
It's a tough day the first day! Especially if you do Cradle Mountain
@ hahahaha I could not do any side trips. It was a 32 degree day before we left and still took me 10 hours
Awesome video mate! Really inspiring & the footage is unreal! Keep up the great work! We’re long-range planning to do the Skye Trail in Spring 2026 likely late April, but will be staying in accomodation along the way. Want to avoid midges & crowds as much as possible. Planning a north to south route which gets the Trotternish Ridge done early in the piece while the legs are in better nick! What do you think of north-south versus south-north??? Cheers mate, Jason & Meg Miller, Brisbane
Thanks mate appreciate the comment! Iv'e only done it north to south - for the same reason, to do the ridge first when fresh. If there is a better weather window I would also rearrange to ensure i'm on the ridge during that window. All the best with the hike - any other questions let me know !
I’ve never done a long distance hike before but I do do a lot of just day walks, I’m hoping to do the way next summer. I’m really excited
You should! Which one iwll you do?
Great video very helpful thank you
Thanks! Glad it was helpful :)
Perfect, just the informations I was looking for, thank you!¡!!😊
Glad it was helpful!
Great job Jack, thank you very much!
My pleasure!
Love the Skyrim music
How good haha
Yawn yawn yawn
Very nice video and adventure. I am thinking about this hike for a long time and your video made me much closer from doing it. :)
Do it! definitely won't regret it
That's a great video Jack. Love your work. We did the OLT in December and had perfect weather. You should check out the South Coast Track.
Thanks Paul! South coast track is definitely on my radar
Im currently doing the skye trail,19 miles to go
Nice one! How did it all go in the end?
@@jackbrookes brilliantly, sore knees for a few days afterwards though🤣 Had perfect weather and not too many midges
Stellar vid bro - where have you been?!
Thanks man! I’ve been so busy with work and moving back to Aus. Going to get things going again in the next few months 👌
You know what friend? Me too, that exact wanderlust and exploration feeling
The Skye Trail is such a beautiful Trail in the Scottish highlands. This August, I hiked the Skye Trail from Broadford to the telephone cell near Duntlum. The Trail is so impressive, but the weather wasn't so nice. I like to see how beautiful The Quiraing and The Cuillin Hills can be. I was only able to experience this in the pouring rain and without any view over the mountains. ⛰
It’s an incredible hike isn’t it. Weather can definitely be hit and miss 😬 all the more reason to go again!
Toller Beitrag. Nur, Du musst jung oder und sehr fit sein, um diese km Angaben zu bewältigen. Ein paar Tage mehr einplanen und die Freude wächst. 😂 Warum wollen es so viele so schnell schaffen? Enjoy walk and nature🍀💐
Had to do it quickly because of work. If I could have taken my time relaxing and enjoying the trail, I would have 🤣
@@jackbrookes Yes, that's the difficulty. Working to stay alive😇 I'm now retired, have had cancer twice and am taking things more slowly. But I am going! Why always cover long distances? Smaller tours, take more time! The main thing is being outside. I would have liked to have known that earlier. 💐
couldn't you learn the actual name of the place in all that time you were there?
Apparently not
Big Bluff 😛😛 but stunning footage, have not seen many videos of people getting good weather on Day One! What time of year did you go?
🤣🤣 Thanks! I went in late December
Nice job! Very informative and helpful. Thinking about hiking Gran Canaria this December and looks like wild camping will be feasible.
Thanks! Yes it’s very possible, just need to find a nice quiet spot 😊
I leave in 2 weeks to hike the trail!!
Me too! I start on Sept. 8!
@@DaDrillSergeant I start the 15th!!
Jealous of you all!! Would love to hear how you all get on 👌
26 miles on Day 2! Blimey. I did the hike over 8 days; took my time, savouring the scenery, taking lots of photos and video footage. Everyone went past me so I ended up on my own but towards evening, there'd often be some back-packing guy like yourself, who'd overtake me - 'Clearly packing in the miles' I thought. Drone shots awesome in this video.
I wouldn’t recommend it to anyone 😂 would much prefer to take my time as well but could only get so much time off work. Thanks for your comment!
@@jackbrookes That's a bummer. The Great Glen Way is shorter so YOU could do that comfortably in 4 days & have time to enjoy the scenery. I'm thinking of doing this one at some point. The terrain is easier so you can cover more mileage in a day though choosing the higher route on day 3, involves a long 'up' apparently. Great views though.
Have watched many WHW videos but this is shot beautifully showcasing the most beautiful country In the world.
Thanks. Scotland is truly one of the most spectacular places on earth.
great work and catchy story…keep going
Thanks!
Starting in 4 days!
Good luck Paul - would love an update as to how you get on
Thanks for the video! I did the hike laat year and this video is a good recap to relive memories 🥰🥰
It's an incredible place isn't it
Love this!!! Next time you should check out the Western Arthur Range!!!
It's on my list!! Hopefully later this year :)

Wow. The flights from England must have been punishing but so worth it!
Living in Aus now which made it easier haha
hey jack! looking to hike the WHW next month. question for you -- can you find camping meals in each town you pass through or need to carry for the whole duration? also, how much water did you carry each day in your pack, or was it easy to refill along the way in streams etc.? Thanks for the help!
Hey, same! When are you starting? Im going on friday
2.8.
Hey sorry for the delayed reply Max! Yes most places have a small camping store you can stop off at to get freeze dried meals - alternatively there's lots of little cafes or small grocery stores :) food definitely was not an issue on the hike!
@@jackbrookes appreciate it Jack!!
Great footage! Really enjoyed it. Was it bad with midges in early July?
Thanks! They were terrible in Sligachen, everywhere else they weren't too bad :)
I don't think its accurate to call it a 4-6 day hike. You will find more people doing it in 7 or even 8 days then in 4. People who are fast and do a lot of miles will hike it in 5 generally. Yes there are people that do it in less but its not the norm. Its really a 5-7 day hike.
Each and to their own!
Great video Jack. Perfect weather on the days that matter most. Congrats on getting all those summits in along the way.
Thanks guys and thanks for the fantastic service getting to and from the trail!
