CLO 3D | Hood Styling
Hello everyone, in this video I am sharing some of my tips for creating a clean hood simulation. It is long and I talk in detail, probably an overkill. I hope some of the tips can be useful in your quest to achieve perfect hood simulations.
If you have better ways of creating this type of look, please share. I will be very thankful, as I am still trying to figure out how to make this process less difficult.
The final file created in this video is uploaded on Connect. You can have a closer look, if you want.
Many thanks,
Dita

In this video I am sharing the workflow I used to create a chain necklace. I am very beginner in 3D modeling and blender, but I was so surprised how easy this process was and what great result I was able to achieve with my limited knowledge. The purpose for this necklace is to be used as an accessory in CLO. Please consider the context of your work and be mindful of whether this method can be a...

How you have many hair and shoes? I don't have them at my clo3d how can i get them?
How do you make the "original" collar in a first place?
such a question, and where to get a Stopper, he worked the same way on physics as you did in the video
It works with simulation too?
You can only see it in render.
so good! brava, i really needed this tutorial
Great Tutorial , Thanks
THanks, so the trim doesnt have any collision right ?
Yes, in this video the trim doesn't have any collision. In newest CLO release, trims finally have collision.
@ yes I tried with collision but I wonder if it is not better your way without collision.
I haven’t tried, but could be. I assume the tiny piece of the buckle that goes through the hole is sticking into belt or making it messy?
@@stitchandrender Yes, it's very unstable. It's too unpredictable and it breaks all the time even with a low particle distance. I was browsing for some tutorials, and I noticed yours had no collision and I think it makes much more sense. perhaps importing the buckle as an avatar is the best of both world ?
This is a great technique! And much easier to edit after the fact, as you dial in a look.
Thank you for the feedback. I’m glad this is useful.
I HAVE DONE THE SAME PROCESS OF WT U HAVE DONE BUT I DONT KNOW WHY THE STRAP IS COMING OUT FROM THE HOLES
can you please tell me any solution to it???
It could be many reasons, so difficult to give solution. Check if the garment itself and straps are not being stretched too much, maybe you’re using fabric that is too stiff. If you use GPU simulation, could be that it is not as stable. Maybe eyelets have collision on. Maybe your pattern pieces have high thickness collision value and holes are too small.
Good job thanks for you
Wonderful! It looks perfect. Thank you
hi can we export texture fur from clo3d to blender?
As far as I know it is not possible.
You are such a homie for having this online, THANK YOU!
ты ж моя хорошая) помогла <3
how do you stop the knot from ripping through itself and undoing? i tried doing this but my knots when pulled tight pull through itself.
It is overall difficult, there is no one thing you can do to make it work. I think most important is to balance the force that pulls the knot to opposite sides, if it is too strong, no matter what you do, the knot will fall apart. There should be no stretching in the fabric, all movements should be very slow and you should stop and start simulation constantly.
@@stitchandrender thank you. I think then, im being too aggressive with my pulling, as you say, the stretch is what seems to be doing the damage. good advice. thanks!
clo3d team really need to work on that trim, that really stress to playing with god damn it
Now with the updated trims it is getting easier.
I love how the new pin feature redeemed itself by the end of the video! Looking forward to trying out the new features as well!
haha, yes, sometimes the obvious is not so obvious. If you test the new breast shape feature, it would be interesting to see how useful you find it. I tried it, and I was confused about using the edited shape together with soft body simulation. Whether that makes sense in any way, if one wants to check fit.
Awesome review! Very detailed. Thank you so much 💖
instagram where
TIL you can POSE in CLO.
Hi! Thanks for your video . Unfortunately trims not always appear in my 2D window ( cords are ok, but bow is invisible ) Have I missed something?
This depends on how you add the trims. The bow you can add in two ways, either as trim (in this way, the pattern of the bow won't appear in the 2D window), or as a project file (the pattern will appear).
Could you do a tutorial on turning back a faced lapel and collar? I went through all the steps here, but can’t get the collar and lapel to turn back properly.
my stopper doesnt move with the cord, its stays at one point when I start the simulation. can someone help?
It sometimes happens, when you attach (glue) a trim to a pattern piece. When you move the trim around, it somehow loses the connection with the pattern piece and doesn't move with it anymore. This is CLO's issue. Only thing you can do is attach the trim again to the pattern piece.
lovely <3
hello where we can take the loop already made would it be possible to have a link to have the creation
It's in your default library, that comes with the software.
Soooo interesting!! Does this method also apply for making this more pronouced sleeves silhouette near the cuffs? :) img.ssensemedia.com/images/f_auto/232202M202017_1/versace-jeans-couture-black-chain-hoodie.jpg
Very not practicle from CLo to not provide this option directly with avatar, but that it. Thanks for the tips :)
My wrinkles disappear as i delete the under layer. What am i doing wrong?
CLO is remeshing the collar pattern, because you deleted a piece that is attached to it. In this case it could happen that the wrinkles change. Or maybe particle distance is too high. Difficult to say what exactly is the issue in your case.
thanks alooott
thank yo sooooooooooooooo muuchhhhhhh 😭
Your design is very nice
THANK YOUUU
Thank you so much for this really. Saved me from hours of stress and troubleshooting
Very helpful! Thank you!❤
Good experience ❤❤❤❤👍
How realistic is fabric simulaiton, in other words if you see wrinkles on model, will it translate into real life? And vice versa, can wrinkles not seen in model show up in production?
Yes, in my experience, I noticed that some product groups/fabrics are more accurate then others. But in general, you have to be skilled in fit and patternmaking, to use 3D for fit. Also the right avatar with correct posture and fabric properties are necessary, to get somewhat accurate result. But even with that, you still need physical fit sample, if you create new silhouettes and aim for perfection. I think 3D is good for creative patternmaking and testing initial ideas.
@@stitchandrender thanks for a detailed reply
23:12 o por dios :c xd. Buen video, me ayudo mucho :D
This method wouldn’t work with animation would it?
Depends on the outfit. I sometimes use transparent helper pieces in animations, but it requires testing, to find right properties for the fabric. If the fabric is too stiff or heavy, it starts to float and make hemlines look unnatural.
Thank you so much for this tutorial. Very helpful, and well explained. Followed step by step and it worked.
Thank you for your kind feedback, I am glad it worked out. :)
Great TUT - Try to follow - but NOT all go my way ( GARMET FOLLING DOWN ) - like you are showing... any chance to have the file to train - follow and learn? - THX anyway for showing this... /// McRoman ...
Im surprised how much finesse is required to make things look as close to real life as possible. I suppose it only matters if you are doing very close up and detailed renders. Plus it shows the limitations of making patterns in Clo with a view to real production garments. Clearly a sample would always be needed to check pattern fit.
I agree. While some product groups are more 3D-friendly than others, a physical sample is necessary. There will always be some gap in accuracy. We once did a test with a causal jacket. Patternmakers wanted to perfect the fit, so they made 5 slightly different patterns of the same jacket, and made them into physical samples. We made them in 3D as well, and while in real samples you could see the differences in fit, in 3D they all looked pretty much the same.
So useful thanksss!
Is there any better TH-cam channel for understanding Clo3d than this one?? No there isn't! thank you so much for giving us away this content! 🙌🙌🙌 Are you planning on making like a Patreon or something similar soon? Thanks again!!
Thank you for your kind words! I am happy you find my videos useful. :) I am working on my own website now, that will offer some member-only services for 3D creation and learning, though I am not sure when it will be ready. I am doing it on my own, so it is taking time haha
