Bentley on Tour (Motorhome Adventures)
United Kingdom
เข้าร่วมเมื่อ 16 พ.ค. 2021
Hello. My name is Martin. I am a West Ham supporter, and I quite often wear West Ham tops!
Confessions over, welcome to my channel. Join me as I travel and explore fascinating places. This is about the castles, coast and countryside that I visit. That is my passion; exploring places and with a bit of luck giving a bit of information about them when I can.
After years and years of camping and sleeping on the ground, I decided that I was too old for that, and finally decided to buy a motorhome. After 6 months of looking at layouts, size and all the options, I bought 'Bentley', my first van, in December 2019. It is a 2010 Bessacarr E540 motorhome. After 4 1/2 years of enjoying the coach-built lifestyle, I decided to down-size, and in May 2024, I purchased a Pilote V630J X-Edition campervan. It is two feet shorter, 1 foot narrower (15 inches at the mirrors), and reduces my anxiety while travelling those narrow lanes.
I hope you can follow me on my journey.

Amazing to think what is under the water along our coastline. Great video we have been to Normans Bay and really enjoyed it and we were right out the way nearer to the train line. Looking forward to the next video X
@jennifermillardX Thank you very much for watching and commenting! It was an amazing section of beach. More surprising there are no signs advising not to swim there. That is the third time I have been to the campsite. Definitely the best place to pitch, away from the road. All the best, Martin
Was that a Spitfire? Those stabbers were a bit random. Like totally random. The single ones were a bit dangerous. That butterfly was a Comma. Some nice arty shots there! Leon's idea of a perfect spot... right by a railway line!!!! Cheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeers Marrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrtin! Ju 😁
I think it was a Spitfire, yes. It did some acrobatics, but it was too far away by then. Cool though. I know you would know the butterfly. That was a much better spot for the last couple of days. Didn't think I was going to get crashed into over there! Amazing them stabber things. Not even one sign telling you about them. Or warning you not to swim!!! Chheeeeerrrrrssss Julie
First! Ha Ha!
bloody thanks 👍
Plymouth and Portsmouth have got the same war memorial. Portsmouth hasn't got a big dent in the dome thingamybob the top though caused by a barrage balloon! There's a few landing tank wreckages on the River Dart half buried in the mud. Have I told you that before? Liked the ending!!!!!!!! 😂😂😂😂😂 Cheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeers Marrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrtin 😁
@blakes4ontour Well, I didn't know that about the war memorials. One day I'll have to visit Mouthply. No one's done it... Not told me about the Dart landing craft. I want to do those dead boats on the Severn. I know Helen has been there. Have you? Faaaannnggs again Julie blush 😊
@@BentleyOnTour no. But we watched a TH-cam programme from the tele about a bloke going up and down the Dart on one of them floaty things that you stand up on with an oary thing!
@@blakes4ontour SUP
@@BentleyOnTour whatsaaaaaaaaap! 😂😂😂😂😂
@@blakes4ontour I've just remembered what the ending was!! That was my voice! Voice change on CapCut!
Well you found out where the police were when the boy racers were about 😂 Didn't recognise where you were parked up at Southsea. But we only went a couple of times. It looked nice, but I tend to avoid the south east of England as it's overpopulated. Good price for the campsite again though!
@roaminginraymond I have seen vans parked there before and saw that it was on Park4Night too. It was a Saturday night, so silly me to expect peace and quiet!! I have just finished editing a video with hardly anyone around in the south east. Then I went to Canterbury! Crikey. Never again. Cheers Helen 😊
Yes I am!!!! Will watch it properly after tea! 😂
@@blakes4ontour Faaannngggs. Hope tea was yummy 😋
@@BentleyOnTour change of plan. Tea in oven. Watched earlier! HA!
@@blakes4ontour Crikey, a late tea!!
@@BentleyOnTour had a late dinner! Knock on effect
Am I? Am I?...
@@blakes4ontour Sure are!!! 😉
That leak was worse than I thought it would be. Food looked yum and a bit of Siouxsie and the Banshees to listen to while you're munching your grub!😁 Least it was dry on the train, a part from sticking your head out the window😂 Looks really nice there even in the rain and somewhere we've not ventured to. Good to hear its dry. Yaaaay!
@roaminginraymond It was a shock to me, how much water was up there. All seems okay now 🤞🏻 That diner was pretty good and some old tunes thrown in!! Not even a copyright thing 😊 Kingswear is small but I do like Dartmouth. Been there a few times. Thanks Helen 😁
Yes. You filmed a train going past last time when you were at Goodrington Sands! They do a ROUND ROBIN there... train>>>ferry up the Dart>>>open top bus... in no particular order! Kingswear and Dartmouth are much better in the sun! Glad it all got sorted! Cheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeers Marrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrtin!
@blakes4ontour I did indeed film the train. Well remembered Julie 😃. I have been to Dartmouth a few times so didn't want to cross over, even though the little ferry was included. I fancied heading down the coast, but the path was crap and it was still a monsoon. Yep, seems to be fixed now 👏 Faaaaaaaannnnggggggssss

@@salvatorecacioppo515 Hello, thanks for your question. It is a Thetford 90 litre fridge/freezer. Hope that helps.
Thank you very much for your reply
I love yew trees, they're so gnarly and interesting. Cute church and a huge tree. Nice views too and nice lodge.
@roaminginraymond Thanks Helen, the scenery would have been stunning with a bit of sunshine! Yew trees 🌳 do have something interesting about them. Not kind to sheep though! 😕
You look like a Smurf all wrapped up in that jacket!😂😂😂😂😂 "Yew and me" 🤣🤣🤣 How many oktas on those hills! Cheeeeeers Marrrrrrtin! 😁
@blakes4ontour Haha papa smurf. Didn't they have white pointy heads? Plenty of grim weather there was. I liked that off the cuff joke too 😉 Thaaanks Julie. Don't think anyone else has watched it. Must be getting crapper!!
@@BentleyOnTour the last 3 of ours have picked up a bit but the Scotland ones before those 2 weren't getting many views. I said to Leon that I was thinking of giving up! But they seem to be picking up again now.
@blakes4ontour It's crazy isn't it. I think I have your recent one to watch so that will bump it up a bit!!
@@BentleyOnTour aw fanx awfully! Every little helps!!!!!! 🤣🤣🤣
Not gonna say it...... 😂
I have a photo of Nanook standing on the stone. We went up there once in the snow, it was beautiful. Somewhere I need to get back to. Surprised it's never been excavated. When we went it was in the Freelander and caravan days. Never seen anyone there when we've been, but it was pre covid days.
Awww, that's nice to have a photo of the majestic boy. I don't know why it was so busy at that point, and most only stayed for 5 minutes too!! Presume you just drove there in the car and not towing the caravan!! 😃. Cheers Helen
Looks like a tortoise! 🐢 Anyway. Any scuff you get on your van are ADVENTURE STRIPES!!!!! 😉 We looked at going there a couple yrs ago but was put off when we Google mapped the road to it! Left us on a cliffhanger!!!! Cheeeeeeeers Marrrrrrtin
@blakes4ontour I did pull over and let a few cars through before giving the narrow lane a punt. Thing is, the stripes show up more on a grey van than on a white van 😢
I definitely wouldn't have gone there in Bentley
1st!!!!! 😂😂 Not watched it yet!!!! 😂😂😂😂
@@blakes4ontour thaaaanks
Don't rember the roman villa. Maybe it wasn't there when we were there!!!!!!!!! 😂😂😂😂 JOKING!!!!!! Nice views from the nature reserve! Cheeeeeeeers Marrrrrrtin 😁
Damn, you beat me to the joke. Was there a nature reserve?
Oh yes, that bit at the top of the hill at the end. Yes, you could see for miles 👍🏻 Taaaaaaa
@@BentleyOnTour wasn't it a nature reserve? Ooooh
Oooh looks nice. Was there a lot of fencing round the house following the water damage to the roof?
I don't remember seeing any scaffolding there. When was the water damage? It was a lovely day back then anyway. Cheeeeers
The house looked a nice style and the gardens were very pretty. That roman villa looks like it was a pretty expansive building in its time. At least it was quiet, arriving late. Nice views.
Actually it was very quiet, but a bit of a zoom round before they locked the gates at 4. Yes, I think it must have been a posh house in its day!! Cheers Helen
1st! Ha ha ha! Haven't watched it yet! 😂😂😂😂
Haha, anyone would think you haven't got anything better to do!! You're my hero. Thhhaaaaaannnks
@@BentleyOnTour 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Looks worth the visit. Shame you didnt really see any wildlife. That's a shame.
I did enjoy this one. Just surprised by lack of wildlife. Much like Wales a few weeks back 😃
@BentleyOnTour yeah, not seen much wildlife anywhere this year, a part from the glimpse of seals and dolphins on Arran.
@@roaminginraymond Lucky person, you 😉
It was closed for the winter when we were on the IOW. Thanks for showing us what we missed. What a silly crow! Cheeeeeeers Marrrrrtin! 😁
@blakes4ontour Haha, why do they always do that?! Close when people want to visit. Sore headed crow me thinks. Thaaaaannnnks as usual Julie 😃
Ooh this is very useful as this is one I often get requests for but never been. Hope you had a nice time on the island.
Hi Naomi, glad you found it helpful! It is a lovely house. Well, when I say lovely... 😉 It's my cup of tea anyway. You should get over there for a look around. The ferries are expensive though. Maybe a business trip... 🤔 😃
Nice. Wonder if Mommy would take me there?
@wolfiesvantasticadventures Haha Wolfie, woof nicely and I'm sure she will one day 😄
That beach looked very inviting. Shame you couldn't get to it. No wonder it was empty! Looked more like a rocket than a pepper pot to me. Cool building though. Nice mode of transport at the end. Must be a great feeling, gliding like a bird.
Yes, would have loved to get on that beach. I thought it should have been called the 'Rocket' too!! I'll stay on the ground me thinks. Cheers Helen.
Awww, go on Marrrtin. Walk along that path!!!😂 Loverly beach! Vaguely remember passing Black Gang Chine and that pepperpotty thingy! Didn't go tonight though! Good view from the trig!!!!! 😉 Forgot, we've got some trig point bagging books somewhere! Cheeeeeers Marrrrrtin! 😁
Shame I couldn't get to that beach. Looks Luke no one else did either. Much preferred the western side of the island and it wasn't that busy for mid July. Thaaaanks Julie 😃

Gorgeous blue seas but very windy. Interesting place to visit and really good views of The Needles. I'd love to go back to the IOW. Only been once and it was with my friend and the kids. I remember getting the chairlift and I hated it! I thought that was at the multicoloured chalk part of the Isle, which I can't remember where it was! Might have been at The Needles but it's been a very long time ago. Probably 20 years.
@roaminginraymond It was a gorgeous day, but so much wind. I think there is a chairlift at Blackgang Chine just down the coast (just edited that one!), so it could be that although I didn't do any of the kids touristy things. I thought it was very quiet for the time of year. Camp site owner said people are going elsewhere. Ferries are expensive unless you can get a discount. Cheers Helen.
Yes. It was very commercialised when we went to Allam Bay. Watched a bloke blowing glass there! Yeah! Take yer shades off Martin!!!! 😅 Mind you, I would not've been able to walk through that tunnel thing! Leon said... WAR DEPARTMENT. S2 is probably the number of the stone! Just as you said our names! 😂 Gawjuss innit. Loved the colour of the sea. Look forward to the next one! Cheeeeeeers Marrrrrrtin 😁
@blakes4ontour I have a sense of déja vu here. There was a charge to watch the glass blowing monkey. Didn't need that fair, just the car park. The tunnel was the best bit! You would have surely. I did have to look up the WD on the stone trig thing. Well done Leon. Cheers to you both 😃

It's global warming Helen. It's all gone nuts. There weren't too many up top deck that's for sure. I'm always outside or up high if there are views to be had 😁. Cheeeeeeers Helen
The last time I was on the Isle of wight was 1985 on a lambretta at a scooter rallie,, it rained then lol.

Very much enjoyed your recent trip, and thank you for posting. 👍 Restormel Castle is a cracker, unusual in its shell keep design. Beaumaris use my personal favourite and we were on Anglesey recently - thoroughly recommend the area for an explore if you like your castles. Thanks again.
Very cool castle. That car park looked wonky though.
Haha, yes, it had a definite wonk! Lovely castle and setting. One of those out of the way ones, which many people seem to ignore. Cheers Helen.
Went there last year. It rained! Nice to see it in the sunshine!!!!!! You're right... it is a nice one! Have you been to Nunney Castle. Its shaped like a bone!😂 Or Launceston Castle and Totnes Castles are both round as well! Faaaaaaangs Marrrrrrrrrrrrrrtin! Ju 😁
@blakes4ontour Yes, done all of those. Not as favouritey though!! If only it could be sunny all the time... Cheers Juuuuu 😃
Portloe. Is pronounced portlow
@JohnlowerPenarrow Thanks for your comment. I did ask a local, and she said 'port loo', so that's why I kept saying what I said!
Killer sheep and killer coos! Don't look 'em in the eyes! WELL I never! Wow! That grave IS huge. We've got that book! If the rabbit didn't run away, it might have been Myxamatosis (if that's hiw you spell it) Or It could've been a leveret. They don't run away either! Cheeeeers Marrrrrtin! 😁
Thanks Ju, but everything runs away from me. Except killer cows 🐄 😄. Gert big grave that was!! Safe travels 🙏
Sheep are fine, but cows are scary! Sad story about the sailors and never heard of a grave like that before, very interesting. That was a very nice beach. Be even better in the sunshine, but least it was dry. Gotta have a pasty when you're in Cornwall! Those 4 miles will work your pasty off!😂
@roaminginraymond I try and stay away from the killer cows! Yes, a very unusual grave it was. So glad to get to the beach for a sit down and then a coffee. Thanks Helen.
Not heard of Portloe. Reminds me of either Port Issac or Boscastle! FH...Falmouth, FY...Foy. Is TO Truro? The boats, I mean. Yes it is. Just looked it up. Cheeeeeeers Marrrrrrtin! Ju 😁
@blakes4ontour I hadn't heard of it either but liked it. Was wondering what you were going on about there. Never even crossed my mind. The boats that is!! Fanks Julie
I do love a harbour town, they are so pretty and relaxing if there's not too many people about. Good to know there's a pub for a pitstop and a nice cold drink.
@roaminginraymond You would have loved it Helen. So quiet for a Saturday and great to relax at the hotel overlooking the beach/port. Thaaanks

Haha, thanks Julie, for the Solstice wishes. It would be nice if there was actually some summer!! Yes I did look up about the path. Catch you soon. Ciiaaaaooooo
Least you got your radio sorted. Ours is awful, we can never get any stations on it. I think Summer is a myth or an old wives tale as I'm yet to experience it!😁 Looks like a well spread out site and what a bargain!

Just got home from IoW and it's been okay the last 4 days. Veeyan definitely the best of the sites I visited. Cheers Helen. Catch you soon
A Flock of Seagulls. I had their album one Christmas lol. Shame you can't overnight there, it looked nice and as for dog walkers, well you know what we think about dogs off lead, especially in nature and grazing areas. That pony was beautiful.
@roaminginraymond When I said that, I was trying to find their best known song. Can't remember it. When I was saying that about dogs rampaging, I was thinking of you two!! All the best places don't allow overnighters. It's madness. Found a few car parks on the IOW where it would be okay...
Apparently they have lots illegal raves there. The locals call it Ravidstow! Cheeeeeers Marrrrrrrtin! 😁
Haha funny Julie 🤣
Have you been? To the rave ;)😉
I read that too lol.
