Another day, another explore. Looking on maps, I see an airfield close by, and on further investigation it is not closed off, and is open to explore, together with the remains of an RAF camp. That sounds like fun!
Taking a new van along rough tracks means I will be travelling at 10mph rather than 60mph that some may attempt. In this video I mainly show me driving along the perimeter and ancillary roads.
Camp sites used in this series:
Ilminster Caravan Club 1 nt £13.90
Minehead Camping & Caravanning Club 3 nts £14.41, £4.80 per nt
Bude Camping & Caravanning Club 4 nts £24.48, £6.12 per nt
Veryan Camping & Caravanning Club 5 nts (did 1 extra nt) £23.11, £4.62 per nt
13 nts £75.90 AVE £5.84 per nt

Join me and my motorhome, as I travel around the UK and explore some, hopefully, fascinating places. I love castles, the coast, countryside, hillforts, and just being out and about.
After 4 1/2 years travelling in my Bessacarr E540 coachbuilt, I changed, on 2nd May 2024, to a panel van conversion. It is a Pilote V630J X-Edition. I hope you can follow me on my journey.
Filmed on my Samsung Galaxy A52s in 1080p 60fps.
Gimbal is DJI Osmo Mobile SE.
Rode VideoMicro Directional Mic.
Edited totally on my Samsung Galaxy and CapCut

That was a goose at the start, not a cow😂
Really interesting place to explore and even overnight, although the words horsefly and donuts put me off a little! The reviews say it's quiet though. I'd be worried about finding my way back out, it looked huge!
Definitely a cow, as that was what was in the field!
The airfield was amazing. So much to explore, I only did a bit of it. Could do the woodland walks too. I don't know if the centers stayed but looks as though they were set for the night. Cheers Helen
I spent time on Davidstow Airfield learning to drive, as I lived only a few miles away at the time, back in the early 70s. My Headmaster in Surrey was a Lancaster Pilot back in WW2 and I believe he told me that he was stationed on Davidstow. Great place to visit
@robertcave6787 Wow, that's fascinating on both points. Plenty of space and junctions to practice driving around! I find that sort of thing really cool, when you are standing somewhere where Lancasters were flying from. Thanks for your comment and dropping by.
We have parked up at the airfield a couple of times when we have been in Cornwall. One of our favourites as it is so vast. Just found your channel and subscribed. Will csfchuo on your okder videos in the next few days.
@CampervanTales It's am awesome place. I'm glad I just like looking at maps as that was how I found it! I think you have commented before, and I subscribed to you. Thanks again, and so for commenting! All the best, Martin
