I wonder if it’s just coincidence that Kira reminds me so much of Oikawa? I don’t think it is. I’d argue that of all the Haikyu characters that Oikawa is one of the ones that represents teamwork the most. I think they wanted us to make that connection so we really understand they ain’t doing that shit in blue lock.

I’m in accounting, so while I mostly use basic calculations I also use things like averages and formulas to calculate things like profit and sales per hour, average operating cost, etc. I have a lot of reports with weird formulas I have to complete that tell the big shots if we’re making money or not. That’s really the only math I use and fortunately I have tools to assist me but I do still need to understand how a formula works, how to create the one I need, and how to analyze data sets. Also, big middle fingers to Mrs. Galloway, my 8th grade math teacher who told me I’d never succeed because I couldn’t do basic arithmetic in my head. I do, in fact, always have a calculator handy and no one at my job cares that I use it.

You’re right that your background doesn’t excuse bad behavior, but it can sometimes explain it. I appreciate that the story took the time to give a reason for Kuon’s actions. It felt so out of nowhere when it happened (I get that it’s supposed to for the shock factor) but even past the initial shock it just didn’t make sense. This actually provides a nice context for what happened and made it feel more natural and less like something the writer just threw in there to mess with the audience.

I will not stand for this Bachira slander. That little weirdo is the best character in the show. I’m sure he’ll grow on you guys as you keep watching.

I’ve said for a long time that I believe that some of the qualities that make a person an elite athlete don’t always make them the best at interpersonal relationships. Confidence to the point of arrogance, a determination that can be seen as stubbornness, a willingness to defeat others and crush their dreams. Those things are necessary to reach the highest levels of sport but it’s not always the best qualities for a friend or romantic partner. As a society we tend to expect athletes to use that in games and then box it away when not playing. Play pretend in the media and act humble and self deprecating. It’s definitely an interesting take to see a show focus on those “uglier” qualities a top level athlete needs. I’m all for teamwork and sportsmanship, especially because 99.9% of us who play sports will only do it on a local team level. It’s not a job for us so we can take those lessons from it. Pro athletes don’t have that luxury. They have to sharpen their bodies and minds into weapons made to cut opponents down.

Tbh, I feel like a lot of the comments regarding animation could come from people who’ve read the manga, since I guess they’re not focused on that same excitement of seeing the events unfold. As someone who has read the manga, though, I still just love Blue Lock and am happy that everyone else gets to experience these moments 👍

Idk if yall were getting hate abt the asahi stuff or not but regardless, obviously me after having watched haikyuu a bunch of times I could genuinely see where yall were coming from but also offer my perspective as to why it is like that or why its not so clear cut like that. But anyways just wanted to say really never change guys. Cos there're so many reactors that try to pander to the audience and maybe not fake their reactions (tho that happens too) but more don't voice certain opinions just cos they know how people would react. Yes what yall thought about Asahi wasn't like the popular opinion but me personally Id rather hear it cos I wanna hear a new perspective. That's why I'm watching reaction content at the end of the day and it just allows for more discussion. But ye just keep yapping guys just do your thing

Asahi shines so much in the nationals. He's been ramping up since S4 training arc (his better mental fortitude against Dateko & trying new moves). He does get a lot of points in the manga as their bread & butter. If there's a back & forth scoring between the teams, or if the anime skips a bit and the scores increased off-screen, more often than not, Asahi has scored on those. But since Tanaka has a spotlight in this arc, he's been getting more screentime. Tanaka IS consistent. But Asahi's role is more difficult: he's given off-system tosses & against an almost guaranteed triple block; which is highly likely for anyone to get blocked. Tanaka usually scores consistently off 2 blockers with Hinata as a decoy. We've seen Tanaka get shut down by triple blocks multiple times already. I haven't paid close attention to Karasuno's rotation system, so I can't confirm right now: I think their rotation is usually Asahi-Tsukki in front, while Tanaka-Hinata in the back. Asahi & Tsukki are the tallest in Karasuno, making this rotation cycle their best blocking system. Even though Hinata has a back attack now, he doesn't use it often, which means Asahi's turn to attack up front is always with no Hinata decoy. This is gonna be SLIGHT SPOILER-Y: Asahi is supposed to get the same spotlight treatment onwards, gaining new moves, and scoring important points...all culminating in his biggest character focus yet. But with the rest of the series being squished into 2 movies, I doubt anime-watchers-only will ever see it; or at least, they won't feel the intended impact of Asahi (and other players) as the author originally inteded. All the movies will be focusing on Hinata since he's the main-main protagonist.

It kills me that y’all want them to go and save Bakugo, but get mad when Iida punches Deku. They were going to save Bakugo. If they ran into villains do you think that the villains would just leave Deku alone because he’s injured. You’re either okay with him going and possibly hurting himself or you aren’t. If he couldn’t handle one punch then he didn’t need to be going in the first place.

Asahi gets set most of the pipe attacks when they’re trying to throw off the defense. Karasuno is a team that plays as a unit and does not rely on their ace like other teams so he doesn’t have a specific spotlight. They intentionally all step up more to cover for the overwhelming and overbearing pressure they used to put on him to score EVERY point

The anime severely downplays the constantly driven fact that Asahi is one of the most powerful hitters in Haikyu only beaten/comparable to the top 5 aces. Chill on my goat.

Hey y'all I guess I do have an unpopular opinion: I do side with the "villains" here. Not spoiling anything but they did bring GREAT points. Ngl sometimes I get them more than the heroes. i agree with YZ out of all the aces we've seen asahi just hasnt been the standard when it comes to an ACE but hes working on it he did stop for a bit after the whole argument with noya so he hasnt really improved until hinata went through his ball boy arc so he wanted to be better and prove himself as the ace but hands down tanaka got it locked down once 3rd years leave lol edit: asahi just also prolly has no screentime rn the show focuses on certain players like tsukki for s3.

Deku definitely used a 100% smash his 100% is the same as allmights if not stronger because the quirk gets stronger as its passed down musculars guirk is really good for defence and offence he used his muscle fibers to cover himself from most of the damage. in the manga the author stated that deku didnt actually use a million percent it was just him exaggerating and hyping himself up to go as hard as he could it was still 100%
