Whats the building in the backround at 14:50 i grew up in mass an always wondered that they keep the trains in there an vechiles as well??
Hey does Mr macamillion have his own channel on TH-cam
Red line Boston, Massachusetts bay transit
Crazy thing is, North Station has capacity for 12 tracks, with tracks 11 and 12 having purple signage on the platforms despite being mothballed with MOW equipment
The CapeFlyer's pace on the Cape is so slow, when I went to film it myself, I caught it crossing the bridge, booked it down US-6, and managed to catch it pulling into Hyannis. To be fair, this *was* a Sunday morning, so it's not exactly the most practical plan for every situation Also, why is the dispatch for the Cape in Wisconsin?
Anyone have any idea what they plan on doing with PAR 1(FP9A) PAR 2(FP9A)?
Stupid of the T to go to Battery Electric
I’m assuming cab car 1647 will still be in service but only for maintenance trains, etc.
Love it. Lol
Thoroughly enjoyed your narration and just the right amount of info. Your insight into the details of what is happening adds depth to the storyline. Keep up the good work.
I hate seeing the old units all rusty and beaten. They deserve fresh paint and parts for all their hard work. I’m a fan of the new paint on the old locomotives but not a fan of new aerodynamic locomotives. Keep the old iron running as long as possible.
6:38 I love the MP36 locomotives
Could have been better not gonna lie.
Its cool that you guys are keeping track of your home road.
WHO IN THE RIGHT MIND LET THESE TOYS GET SUBWAYS!
what about 1648 and 1710
The NIMBYs making the REM de l'Est fail and effectively taking away this blessing from the people living in the east will never be forgiven. I hope somehow people can sue them NIMBYs and the politicians that listened to them.
I used to live in Danvers, like 20 years ago and I miss it! I miss all of the greater Boston area and I love your channel having just found it!!! Thank you!!!
I’m thrilled to have found your channel and find the content informative and absorbing. And even though I’ve only worked through a portion of your videos, I wish to make a request. Could you please include more explanations - in layman’s terms - of the railroad terminology you present? Perhaps even a tutorial explaining railroad terminology? Anyway, thanks so much for your efforts. Tremendous professionalism on display. I’m sure you’ll enjoy much success wherever the tracks lead you. And thanks so much for finally answering a question I’ve had for over 60 years… what the heck path do trains take to get from Readville to Somerville! I grew up a block from the old Reading Highlands depot… the abandoned coal silos and turntable were my playground!
Thanks for the comment, Im glad you enjoy. Funny you mention the terms thing, I have actually always considered making a “railroad glossary” video, for all basic railroading terms, and then a “boston railroading glossary” video tk explain what all the stuff im talking about is. It would be fun to reference in my future videos as well. Might have to consider making that soon!
isnt 16R now EDSA?
This is how Train vs Car accidents happen. It happens all too often on the Kingston line, primarily in Abington.
Holy SHIT!!!
I saw that on the 2024 CAPEFLYER before 1129
MUST SEE!!!
Yes
I love Rockport station. Rockport line in general is so scenic. Favorite north side lines to ride for fun are rockport, Fitchburg, haverhill and Newburyport. Favorite south side lines are Worcester, middleboro/lakeville, and I need to try Kingston and providence lines soon!
Nice video! Are you in Georgia now or is this old footage?
think hes in georgia
This was from 2 weekends ago, spent a night in the SCL caboose!
@@BostonByRails ahhh okay! nice
I've rode in a converted single level cab car before, its pretty cool. You can tell because they are a 4 digit car number and start with 1.
I think people should protest the removal of heritage equipment for the sake of newer railroad equipment. Many times the newer equipment stinks! I'd rather have an F7 then a stupid MP36PH-3C!
The day 112 finally left the Downeaster
It’s a control car !
I’ve never seen the pan am ocs :(
Good video/ information too. CSX has done a lot of track repair/ upgrades in southern NH. Please post more updates.
Supposedly 537 535 534 and 535 are staying and 536 is becoming the beech grove switcher 534 and 538 are slated to get new cab signals and access 535 was just reactivated and sent to Washington 531 532 futures are unknown due to major engine problems also heard 539 is still active out west and 530 is dead in Washington state or something
Wow! As a Midwesterner, it's super cool to see Amtrak Switcher in this video, and even cooler to see them absolutely bookin' it doing 60 on the mainline! Here they are mostly reserved for yard switching, local industries, and grain elevators.
Are we actually seeing more railroad standardizing though?
Cool share thanks!.
Subed Thanks.
that trench digging tool is some serious equipment. Super cool. Thank you for documenting this, its obviously a huge amount of work.
so cool!!
As a kid and teen we camped at the canal camp ground in the late 60s and always wondered that bridge!
wait so why is there a tunnel leading under that MIT building?
What it actually is is MIT got the air rights over that portion of track and they have since built buildings on top of the tracks. Pretty cool!
@BostonByRails super cool!! Thank you.
Great video man, glad to see this equipment still out in the rails!
Thanks!
At 02:21 the switcher had to stop and wait for the gates to come down? And at 14:20 that old Heinz Building, looks like it's been converted to office or apartment space?
At 17:00 So did the work train. Must be something about that particular location.
@@evad1 That is odd, could they be getting the area revamped as part of the new trains coming into service. PS: added your channel to my featured list.
The work trains out of South Station were R - 3 engines they were X - New Haven engines out of North Station they were leased B & M GP- 9’s the MBTA still has GP - 38 -2 # 3247 I seen it on a video it was mu with F - 40 # 1017 which is still in good shape
Awesome!
I got to see the Readville Switcher from MIT’s campus a few years back completely by chance. It was super cool but I had no idea what it was back then!
Me bottom left 9:54
I have never seen a switcher locomotive move with that speed! It is hilarious!!
Right?!
I hate to admit this but despite me being an MBTA Railfan I've actually never railfanned on the North Side before and got to film the Comet cab cars. And now I deeply regret not doing so because those cab cars are gone now. Man I missed out :(
Y’all a bunch of FOAMERS…. lol
12:07 - That is a beautiful Caboose !
