scary Airco dh2 maiden
Some bad language in this video and i apologise this was one of those high stress maidens that could have gone badly, thanks to my buddy Steve for helping trim this bird, further work required to calm this DH2 down but im sure she will get there.

Trying out the soxos 7.1light with new Scorpion 4026 1115kv motor on 6s 6000, flies really nice now, i would not recommend the 1st 830kv motor that comes with the combo package, i just could not get the haedspeed, maybe a dodgy motor.

Hi had a Maxford models Bleriot X1 super tail heavy even with a big lipo and loads of lead up front, honestly the worst model i have ever owned !! looked great hanging in the workshop just a brick to fly good luck with your Airco DH2
@leepering4440 thankyou and sorry for the colourful language in the video
@@andre-dx4yw no worries all my flights with my Bleriot were the same ass clenching
Much love mate ❤
these guys look lost that the new guy showed up and with a better airplane than they got
What a *beautiful* flying field. And your bipe is a beauty too; it flies like a mother fokker!
Thankyou sir, i have a maxford usa 1/6th airco dh2 maiden coming soon hopefully this weekend weather permitting, thanks for watching.
May want to learn how to use the rudder a little more before flying that one.
@JohnVHRC if you watched the whole video you would have seen another few successful flights plus other videos flying the se5a. But I do appreciate your comment rudder with planes is a definite weak spot for me yet use it all the time with my helis.
That's what I can't understand with this hobby anymore there is always 1 or 3 morons that just can't say nice flight well done ,but they rather just say ohhh ya done this wrong ,help people out ,give people back up ,help if ya can , don't be a turkey like this bloke in the background
What a great place to fly RC aircraft and what a nice first landing! 👍
Impressive landings, considering you have a biplane!
Same thing happened to me with the 1/6 cub, lifted off too early, wing stall.
@Cess182sn yes I found I had up elevator and had to trim quite a bit.
Why is it that your mates always miss your best landing?🙄
why are you lying? where is the crash?
Learn to use your LEFT THUMB!
Elevator...so much up Elevator..
@Bareknuckleflying. yep before the remainder it had to be trimmed down and even then in flight it had to be trimmed down more
Good job, nice landings, keep on with the mods. Have fun flying! On my channel I fly over The White Cliffs of Dover.
That wasn't a proper crash! Nice model. 😊
@@bobflyman sorry I'll try and do a proper one next time 😅
That is a great looking D 7 very nice flights.
@jettechdonatkins thanks much appreciated thanks for watching
Beautiful scale plane and flys tremendously well. Many thanks for sharing.

no ruddder on take off lol that WHY u crash ya twat
Got there in the end🎉🎉 Great flight
A really beautiful model and can see what a thrill it is go get in some successful flights. The speed bump in the runway makes things interesting.
Tell that smart a...s in the background to shut up ohhh blah blah blah twat
I think they missed the last landing, no worries we saw it! Flew my D7 today, not Hangar 9, but another lovely flyer. That field hump must cause some interesting takeoffs occasionally as well, cheers.
As you're picking up the plane from the initial attempt, I catch a quick glimpse of the bottom of the upper wing. Where did you get the Lozenge covering you used? I'm wanting to build a D8 but having a hard time finding the covering. Thanks
@Noncenx hi sorry I can't help you, the hanger 9 d7 is an arf, comes pre covered
@@andre-dx4yw Ahhhh... I didn't realize the blue was an option,. They only show the red/white on the web site. Thanks!
@Noncenx ah that's the new d7, this one is the old 60 arf went out of production around 2011 ish
Glad you came back and had a great flight, good looking D 7
@scottconnors7901 thankyou, I was lucky I didn't seriously damage it, but flies great now. Thanks for watching
Fokker D7 are a dream to fly love my Flair D7
Yep, me too, my Flair DVII is my favourite model.
H9 makes a good flyer. I have one since they came out and use an OS LA65 in the nose. Love it!
@azzir325 now she is trimmed she flies great really like it alot
wow try actual right rudder next time
nice work! may want to add a bit of expo to the rudder. May help with takeoffs. I have 25% on my 1/4 scale D7
Normal speed for 1/4 scale would be about 50 kph up to maybe 60 flat out. Slowing down would not only look more scale but give you a lot more flight time to boot.
There was no evidence of right rudder found during the course of the investigation.
It’s obvious , you literally had no right rudder in there on the take-off roll. In fact, as it started to roll left , you were getting left rudder in there and it kept increasing before you hit the ground.
Looking at the video, I could see LH rudder input all the way from lift off to impact, and I guess you were inputting RH aileron to correct which just accentuated slow speed LH wing drop. With these old birds its all about rudder, rudder, rudder. Great looking model and a good group of mates, you'll be fine!
@johnmorrison1180 yeah turns out there was up elevator that needed trimming out, she was trying to fly before she was ready, after trimming she had 4 great flights and take technique was not changed apart from getting used to how much right rudder she wanted.
agree - on the 3rd flight where you say you need more right rudder because the plane was turning left, it looked like you gave it left rudder by mistake. As you began each takeoff, I was watching the rudder (past experience myself) to see how much you used. I didn't see any on the first 2 flights, then left on the 3rd. This is being nit picky, I think you did a great job and it looks wonderful on the ground and air
Great comment Johnmorrison 🤙🤙🤙🤙
A rubbing axle would cause a ground loop, not a wing stall. You lifted up too early which caused a wing tip stall. Some Bipe's need lots of airspeed to get off the ground. Always correct with the rudder at low speed not ailerons as it will accelerate the wing stall. You should make a throttle rudder mix for take offs Put it on a switch to correct the right rudder the more throttle you give it then switch it off once you gain enough altitude. I do it to all my taildraggers. Mixes work wonders on tail draggers. Especially for making turns, adding aileron rudder mix makes your turns much nicer. Let's you focus more on enjoying the flight.
@FarmerFpv yep I totally get the logic, it's just after fixing the axle I did nothing different on take offs and it was a completely different plane.i have a rudder aileron mix which as you say really helps.thanks for the comment
No rudder!
A brilliant flight chap.
@Wyatt-x2z thankyou sir most kind, I feel a bit of an idiot for the crash but lesson learned.
Thanks for the vidio. I have one that I will be converting to electric.
Thats what happens when you lift off with out using all the available power, plane leaves the ground below its flying speed, and drops a wing because it has stalled. A rubbing axle will only cause a ground loop at the best.
Exactly. A stuck wheel axle would cause an immediate ground loop, not a tip stall. He also tried to correct it with the right aileron which accelerated the tip stall. Always use the rudder at low airspeed as the ailerons create more drag exacerbating the tip stall.
Looks like it fly's very stable. Lands like a Dream. Just got to smooth out that dam Rut in the run way. Great video.
@gisall8205 yes that rut has been responsible for a few mishaps
@@andre-dx4yw Fill it in. Pack it down. Instal sod. Quick and EZ

Landing gear AXLE. That's the word you were looking for. Pretty plane. Would love to get one.

My favorite plane of the Great War... what a brilliant RC model. Thank you for sharing! More please. PS... just a small detail but most appreciated... I just love how the pilot's scarf was flapping in the breeze on takeoff. Frankly after seeing that I almost expected you to strafe the airfield with the Lewis MG. Cheers. PPS: Subscribed of course.

@andre-dx4yw I was hoping 4s. I have the kit and will ready it for next spring. Thanks.
Glad to see someone post of video of this plane. Do you have an all-up weight for the plane?
i will let you know here as soon as i get chance. cheers
Hey you guys loved watching your video, great recovery by the way on your flip.quick question if you don’t mind? What would you set your throttle and pitch curve for a new starter ? Just to dull it down a bit , I’ve already broken my landing gear as it was a bit lively when I came down to land.oh well all good stuff.😂👍loved your video though hope there’s more to come. All the best.
Hi Fox, so when i was just starting out my pitch curve was calmed down a bit on the negative, so no flips or tricks but just hovering i had my my settings at something like 38,50 75,100, basically so that if i panicked i wouldnt drive the heli into the floor at 100% negative pitch, obviously as my confidence improved i changed it to enable me to do tricks as seen in my later videos, my maximum pitch was about 11 deg each way and throttle on idle up depended on the model but high enough to be stable as higher headspeed helps with stability, hope this helps, this is what i did, as i gained confidence i increased the aggressiveness
@@andre-dx4yw Hi thanks for your advice much appreciated, all the best mate happy flying.
