KARMON A JOURNEY
Australia
เข้าร่วมเมื่อ 15 ธ.ค. 2022
We (Karen and Monique) #1242857
We have travelled for many reasons, to parts of Australia and countries around the world.
We have slept in horse floats, swags, caravans, albergues, hotels, motels, cabins and penthouses… but nothing makes us happier than caravanning in our Zone Sojourn, finding that best camping spot and sitting by a camp fire with a camp - cooked meal.
We also love to walk- around towns, villages, cities, across beaches, along rivers and through vast National Parks and even the Camino! (Look it up, it's addictive).
We aren’t experts in any of these things. But, we do enjoy ourselves. We laugh at ourselves, at each other and when we get things wrong.
Our content will be a bit of everything. It isn’t designed to shock, it’s everyday life for us.
So, be warned, if you are sensitive to swearing, or can’t stomach emptying a caravan toilet, then you may not want to watch.
If you are up for it, we invite you to karmonajourney with us.

Roads to Mackay (149) Nov2024 - Travel Day Notch Point to Mackay 109kms - sugar cane country
We leave Notch Point at the incoming tide and make it out without any difficult water crossings. You have to look at episode 147 to see us drive the track out.
We travel along the Bruce Hwy to cut some time down, as we travel toward our visit with family in Mackay.
We keep an eye out for crocodiles and watch the sugar cane fields flourishing beside the road.
We reflect on the difference between truckers in SE QLD to up this way as we listen in on the CB radio. And it’s a good thing we are listening. It gives us a heads up on what is coming up.
We have to pass several trucks with oversized loads and we breath in and move over as far as we can.
We are so glad you can karmonajourney to Mackay.

What a fabulous free camp, it was worth every effort getting into this piece of paradise. We do a spot of fishing, (the one that got away). Our fridge breaks down and puts us in a spin., thank goodness for the Zone owners fb page for troubleshooting. We meet up with locals who tell us the tales and history of Notch Point, including, missing man, was he taken by a crocodile? buildings being bull...

Tame by hardcore 4x4 standards but this is the worst track we’ve taken with the van so far. Trying to beat the rising tides, deal with rain on the track and crocodiles lurking… All to get to the north side of the headland to camp near the beach on that side. Hoping to show others what type of challenges to expect on this track, we have included driving in and out in this one video. There are he...

Today we leave the reserve at Hedlow Creek to head to Notch Point for a few days. It is still incredibly hot and we hope the new location will bring some sea breeze relief. We are very low on water, thanks to doing washing whilst at the creek, so now the hunt is on to find somewhere to fill our tanks. We are also racing to fit into the low tide time at Notch Point, as you can sometimes not get ...

We thoroughly enjoyed this peaceful free camp north east of Rockhampton. We relaxed enjoying the wildlife especially birds singing and watching the Whiptail (pretty faced) wallaby pawing each other to claim their girl. We get attacked by mosquitoes 🦟 so a very unrestful sleep but see how we tackle them with our new gadget. Beautiful sunrise and sunsets. Karmonajourney and enjoy this peaceful ep...

It was time to leave Tirroan pub after a lovely night chatting to locals and a delicious pub meal. It was like we stepped back in time 30 years, loved it, the staff and host Karen were very welcoming and only $10 to set up camp for the night in their lush green paddock. We pass through Gin Gin 10 km away and have a stop in at Miriam Vale where we found a bakery and filled our water tanks in tow...

We leave Noosa Habitat to head further north with no definite plan of where we will stop for the night. We are going to Maryborough definitely as we’ve heard a little about a golden throne and a tribute to Mary Poppins. On the way out of Noosa, our gps map system, Waze, takes us on a route not suitable for caravans, so we have to do a u-turn to get back on a decent road. We also decide to stop ...

The last leg of our journey. Even though we are still heart-sore because the journey was cut short on difficult family circumstances, it has been an epic trip and this last episode in this series is no exception. We depart Tuncurry, rested and cooled down, and we head toward Karen’s Mum & Dad in Woolgoolga. The drive is uneventful today, thankfully, as yesterday’s overheated tyres was a bit too much stress to repeat. Nice video But I have checked your video views are not getting expected result as compare to. I can help you to rank your video on TH-cam for more reach and view. Let me know if you are serious about your youtube channel ..
Thanks for the lawn bowls lesson :) Your Aunt and Uncle are very creative and dedicated to their Christmas display. Karen that work on the hat was awesome. Well done.
Thank you so much! We aren’t great bowlers, but it’s a lot of fun. It was great to get some real world guidance from Alf & Joey on how to roll a bowl better, but it obviously takes years of practice. The hat burning is fun as long as you don’t mind possibly stuffing up the hat or not being able to create something that someone will like. Take those two stressors out and it is so much fun to try it! Hope to show you some more we make along the way… glad to have you along for the ride, as always 😊
We will concede that Zone won this one 😂
😂 thanks guys.
YUM,A PRAWN A CAN.THAT SOUNDS LIKE MY KINDA OF DAY. " TRAIN BRAIN " 😀😀PLEASE HAVE MORE LATE NIGHTS..
@@marlenesullivan3113 you make us smile
WELCOME BACK, I'M ON THE ROAD AGAIN TO ENJOY THE JOURNEY WITH YOU BOTH..THX
Thanks Marlene. We are glad to have you along. 😊
Looks like a great place to relax
It was amazing. Monique positioned the van so we had a wind break, it would’ve been brutal if we’d faced into it. We had wind almost 24/7 while we were there. Heaps of people camp on the other side of the headland to get away from it.
Maybe it was worth that dreadful track 😉
Yeah, it was…
Hopefully fish dinner next time
Ha ha! Monique is feeding off the story of the one that got away still…. Maybe things will be better next time. We needed a spot to catch the outgoing tide to snag one I think. But crocs and incoming water was a worry there.
more cashed up bogans with a caravan channel-- like the other 26700000000
Thanks for your feedback lone wolf. We started making videos so our elderly parents would be able to see where we are and what kind of things we do and see. Not sure how you came to see this if you don’t like watching caravanning videos. Hope you find some entertainment on TH-cam that you can enjoy.
Just loved this authentic vid showing what the van can do with some patient driving . Cracking job ladies
Thanks so much Brad. We’ve done 4x4 driving course and a basic towing course, with some stuff learned from 4x4 TH-cam videos, but this was our first real test. So happy with the way the van and car performed. The DO35 hitch really is a game changer for us. Thanks again for your feedback!
I haven’t been to Notch Point for 2 years. The track looks the worst I’ve seen it with heaps more tyre ruts. You’re lucky it was so dry. Most times the dips have water in. Nice camp spot but now loved to death as so much on utube & fb. Very good driving.
Yes, we reckon it’d be very busy in north side during holidays. The ruts prove that people still drive the tracks during high tides or after big rain, probably for the thrill and probably not with a 21’ van behind. It’s a spot that most people have heard of, but many won’t attempt.
Geez Louise, that was a bit stressful. I hope whatever was there was worth the effort 😳
It was probably more stressful because we are novices at this stuff. But it was worth it. Our next episode will show Notch Point and its beauty… coming soon. Thanks for watching, and commenting.
Hello you 2 wanderers. So glad to be kamon on a journey again. Always nice to see your adventures and places you are staying. Enjoy your 2025 journey ladies. Who knows, we might see you on our 2025 travels. Cheers, gillian.
Thanks Gillian. It’s great to be back on the road. If you spot us along the way, please stop us to say hello. We love that. Next year could be big, if all goes well for us. Enjoy your travels, wherever you go and travel safely. 😊
Hey ladies. Just watched your 4wd adventure at Notch point. An excellent informative vid. Very useful. We leave tamborine mountain on 10th feb for 6 months heading to SA then up through the centre to Darwin. We will certainly keep our eyes open for you both.
@@gillianainscough3879travel safely! We may see you in the road. You know us, so if you see us please say hello. We’d love that.
You should have travelled up the old highway road ( Marlborough to Sarina) and then you could have shown everybody all the murder sites at funnel and hedlow etc from the 60's and 70's. That might have been more interesting. The site of the caravan couple having the snot shot out of it while they were inside would be relevant and how one survived crippled for 16 hours before help arrived. Thats adventure holidaying.
@@roddieruddie4545 thank you so much for your suggestion, we are actually going that way sometime in our travels and had no idea of it’s history, I just did a bit of research and will look into it further, it sounds horrific. Thanks for sharing and hopefully we can find some more interesting information to share on that episode.
The wildlife was amazing. Careful or the USA family won’t visit 😂 are we getting an update on the weigh bridge exercise? 😅
@@rawadventures2024 haha yes we don’t want to frighten them but they have bears, rattle snakes and cougars to contend with 😂 but family in the Netherlands is another story, they’d run for the hills. Our weight was over at the tow ball, which baffled us as we have less weight at the front from when we had it professionally weighed, so we phoned the fellow that did our weights 2 years ago and he said if the van is not positioned correctly it will give a false reading and aren’t accurate as they we in 20kg increments. We have booked in a professional weigh with him again on 2nd December to get accurate weigh and know how we are going. We will do a TH-cam on that when it happens.
Good video Ladies, Rocky to Mackay road is the worst, just bouncing up and down, I dropped a water tank along the way. If I can make a suggestion, can you record with volume set a bit louder, I had speakers set to max and struggled to here, anyway looking forward to your next stop at Notch Point. :)
Oh wow that would have been stressful dropping a water tank. We really appreciate the suggestion, at our end it sounds loud and didn’t want to blast people so we will turn her up then viewers can at least turn it down rather than not hear. Thanks again!
Just wondered why you couldn't swim at Hedlow Creek? Formidable looking country up there! 👍🦘🦘🦘🦘🦘
Hi Robyn, we were camped in a spot that was stunningly beautiful, mostly because it was in disturbed. There was a drop off (not bad) into the creek with abundant grasses plus a really healthy lily pad system on the edge of it. We could’ve walked around to where everyone else was swimming but we kinda wanted to just keep to ourselves and avoid the kids running and jumping in the water. Guess it just wasn’t hot enough to force us to put up with that. 😊
Looks nice and peaceful, probably apart from the willy wagtail going on all night? Gorgeous little wallabies. That's the life! Nice little tool you've got for the mozzies. I know some people who'd love one of them. Fortunately, they don't like me very much. ♥ 🦘🦘🦘🦘🦘
Ha ha! The Willy wagtail was a busy little thing. You are very lucky indeed that the mozzies leave you alone… both our zappers are staying as part of our kit. 😂
Nice looking cattle
They were beautiful Colleen. The farmer let them out on the Monday, after the busy weekend there. It would’ve been nice to stay longer to see them wandering around the campsite.
What a nice camp, very picturesque
It was! Amazing spot!
Thanks for your information Natalie. How fascinating and beautiful inside a place like that is just amazing. I feel like south east QLD doesn’t have a lot of that really old history do we have loved feeling the connection to people from so long ago, working hard and surviving incredible things. It’s like walking in their footsteps for a time. 😊
4:10 I was looking at Google maps and it looks like that section with the stone floor was built first. Then, they extended out with the wooden flooring. That also explains why that door is so worn. Because it would have been an external door. Amazing buildings and history ❤
A great video as usual. Noticed the hot weather singlet tops :) Hedlow Creek looks a great place. For future reference, Dodecagon is pronounced Doh - Dec - A- Gon.
Thank you, on all fronts! Glad to have the help with pronouncing the word. It has been very hot- at 35 degrees most days. Everything is extremely dry up this way, and it has been an adjustment for all the senses to cope with this weather and its impacts. Looking forward to our next leg as we head toward the coast. 😊
Well as someone who won't ever get a chance to travel, I really appreciated your video and your encounters with the wildlife, and that track WAS beautiful - thank you very much. 👍
You are most welcome Emily! Glad to have you along on the journey ☺️
Awesome! Talk soon.
Love the sound of the kangaroo hopping in the water. Habitat Noosa looks like a lovely place to stay. Will send you a message Monday.
It’s a unique sound. Not heard in too many places either…

That’s great Sharon! We are back in the car and getting into the swing of things again. Would love to hear how your trip to Tassie goes and if you get to see places we didn’t whilst we were there. Never know when we might go back again to finish off our trip down there. 😊
