Such lovely gifts for your precious baby! 💙 The quilt you call a crawling blanket looks like what we in Australia use as a cot blanket.
Heels, and toes. I call them my "Tommy socks". I would like to see you knit more socks for your husband in the future. I thank you kindly for showing his sicis. Please show more. Take care. Enjoy the sunshine. Many blessings to you and your family. Prayers for rain 🌧️☔ Ken in the USA 😊
@@kendenta2207 thank you. ❤️ My husband always gets a pair in November and December - for his birthday and Saint Nicholas or Christmas. Occasionally I make him a pair for through out the year too. But I think I have to make him other items too. He so far received one sweater and one hat from me.
Now you will have 2 men in your life and you could alternate between them. Tommy......Baby boy.....Tommy.....Baby boy.....Tommy.....Baby..... Etc. Now you will be three. Such a lovely family. And plenty of knitted blankets and clothing to keep everyone blessed and comfortable these upcoming holidays. Ken😊
@@kendenta2207 it’s funny how a pregnancy can change oneself. I started a fall sock for me recently but it wasn’t as much fun as the other items I was knitting for our baby, my husband or my midwife. I guess I have to cast on more items for others for now. 😂
A new mother does change when a new baby is coming. Some have strange cravings for foods, like here in the USA, pickels, salmon, ice cream, sardines and others not at all. When my wife at the time was having our third daughter she would constantly knit baby layettes. It's like a 60x60 CM blanket. One after another. The baby just needs more and all in white or pink. And even more. She knitted like 17. When baby came home she just stopped. And then it was cardigans. Buy it pleased her very much. Our next door neighbor around the same time was having her baby could not stand the smell of her husband. Another mother we knew keep changing the kitchen cabinets back and forth for months before baby came. But I suppose it's all for love. Sweet precious wonderful baby. All for them.😊
@@kendenta2207 yes, we are a little crazy during the nesting phase. 😅❤️ But it’s definitely worth it. 👶🏻
Hello Anna Knitter. Such a lovely podcast today. Yes. Lots of stockinette knitting to keep the soul in harmony, peace, and tranquil. And for the new baby boy. In America we have a blanket like word called a layette for the baby. I agree on quiet Sundays as well. I have been inspired by your husbands socks that you knit when he requested light colored heels. I'm planning on purchasing cream colored sock yarns for cuff,
I so wish America was still that way. No more quiet Sundays for us 😣... my great grandmother was from Germany... maybe is time to explore my German heritage!
I’m with you on the love story books. No teenage angst. Nothing cheesy. Such beautiful baby gifts! Say hi to Benni from Theo. 😃🐶
thanks!!!!!
I live in northwest Iowa in the U.S. In our small towns Sundays are much quieter too. There is only one gas station open on Sunday, but everything else is closed. We observe the Sabbath in this area too. In our family we don't patronize businesses on Sunday. We go to church two times, have meals together, and rest. I feel well rested by Monday. This is what the Lord commands us to do because our bodies and minds need rest.
Anna, I have a book series recommendation for you, my absolute favourites: the Number 1 Ladies Detective Agency by Alexander McCall Smith. Very kurzweilig and heartwarming, I love the books ❤
@@melhills2482 thank you!
I'll just tell you my favorite book of all time and you can check it out and decide if you want to listen to it. It's called 'To Kill A Mockingbird'. It's narrated through the eyes of a child but it's very deep and carries many good lessons. It was also made into an amazing film with Gregory Peck.
@@alisoncaronflyingfree oh, that’s a classic isn’t it? I heard about it often but never read it. Thanks for the hint. I will put it onto my eReader. 👍🏻
@@annaknitter Oh yes, a definite classic. I've read it over and over and it always makes me feel like I want to be a better human. It's so good.
Our family continues to try to keep Sunday a quiet, restful day. I would LOVE it if there were also the rules about keeping things quiet on that day as well. I can't see that happening here in the US unfortunately. I think were all too addicted to being busy! God bless you and your sweet family ❤
Such lovely gifts 😍😍
My last camping trip I wanted a light read…Remarkably Bright Creatures by Shelby VanPelt was recommended by a friend. It’s not my normal genre but was a fun read.😊
What is interesting is that Emperor St. Constantine left only one government office open on Sundays - the office where slaves were legally freed, which was entirely appropriate and Christian.
Wow🥰🥰🥰so much love from others!
I just thought of some German words that I always struggle to properly translate into English -- Wortsalat & Kabelsalat :)
@@kniddelliz7512 isn’t word salad an English word? If not then it should be. 😂
hang up the cross stitch blanket
The word you were looking for is sleep deprived. Depraved means wicked. Though, you may become so sleep deprived that you actually become sleep depraved. 😉 I love the idea of quiet laws for Sunday. We have committed from early in our marriage (now 36 years) to not work on Sundays. We usually take afternoon naps and it’s funny how I will start feeling sleepy about lunch time on Sunday, like my body knows it’s Sunday. God knew what we needed. I was always annoyed when the kids activities scheduled things on Sunday, and unless it was important (like a ballet performance) we would let the leaders know we couldn’t come. That was a challenge. We avoided a lot of that by homeschooling but there still were times we had to deal with it. When I was a kid most things were closed on Sunday here in the US. Have you read the James Herriot books (All Creatures Great and Small, etc.)? We are reading the first on the Texas Peach Podcast telegram group. I read and loved them years ago and am enjoying listening to this one now. Delightful books!
Our pastor likes to tell us stories that he’s read from various lives of the saints books and I’ve always enjoyed reading those types of books too, especially if the stories are in shorter chapters which I can read in small free moments of my day or before bed. One really good book is “Pray for Us: 75 Saints Who Sinned, Suffered, and Struggled on Their Way to Holiness”, by Meg Hunter-Kilmer, but there are so many others, too. ❤
That is so funny. I just finished a gingham blanket in ivory, pink and rose. My pattern is from a tutorial by Daisy Farm Crafts. With mine you carry the alternate yarn with each row using the griddle stitch. A lovely, squishy blanket. I love yours as well! And all of the gifts are precious!
I miss quiet Sundays back in eastern Europe where i grew up. Here in Canada it is not a thing. Give Benni belly rubs :)
Fyi last day of September is MONDAY September 30😊
@@debracubitt6191 The blanket won’t be finished this month then I guess 😅
The gingham crochet blanket you made for your knitworthy friend and her baby is lovely❤😊 Very thoughtful of you Anna 💕
In CANADA we would say baby romper😃
Such thoughtful baby gifts Anna. SUCH LOVE for you and your baby boy🥰😃🩵🩵🩵
I miss the quiet Sundays and the "Mittagsruhe" from 1pm to 3pm here in Australia. Everyone seems to mow their lawn on Sundays
@@janinekieburg9100 Mittagsruhe could be the next word of the day. That’s something I fear we will loose here as soon as the older generation is gone. People my age don’t understand why have to keep the silence during these hours unfortunately.
Totally agree with your country's Christian decision! I remember when America Respected Sunday as Christ's Day for worship with family-- Far better world we had back then! God Bless You, Tommy, and baby boy❣
@@PPK-727 I didn’t know that you had similar laws in the US as well? I am surprised because the USA has far more active Christians than we do. How did it come and when that these laws are gone?
@@annaknitter sorry to say there is very little respect for Christianity at this time here in the states. The only things that are closed on Sunday; is Post Office and doctors' offices and Government buildings. When I was a child -- most everything was closed on Sunday-- maybe just one pharmacy in the city would be open for a few hours. People seemed to respect and hold Sunday as Christ's Day, back then. Even if they were not Christian. We really need things to change here. Hugs to you, Anna
Agree about Sunday. I never eat out on Sunday. That crossstitch. Blanket is lovely
@@normasmith9596 you are the first one that understands us and does the same. Have you never eaten out on Sundays or when and why did you stopped doing that?
Hi love your podcasts❤️Just wondering about your little dog, haven’t seen him lately. Hope he’s doing ok.Thanks for sharing😻
@@cheryleschick9754 thank you ☺️ Oh yes, Benni is very well. Sounding see him on the podcast because of the setting. He is just too small 😂
My parents and grandparents always followed the rule not to work on Sundays. They were German farmers. Sundays were for worship I in the morning and visiting relatives in the evening. The afternoon was for quiet time. I won’t do laundry or chores around the house on Sundays after we return home from church. For me it’s still a day to have rest and quiet to reflect on the worship service. Loved seeing all the beautiful baby gifts you received ❤
@@brendapaulsel3708 German farmers? Wow. When did they leave Germany?
@@annaknitter when Catherine the Great was wanting farmers in Russia. From there they came to America before Ellis Island kept records.
Love the baby gifts! How kind! I didn’t know that about German Sunday laws. I kind of wish the US had those. My husband and I try to make our Sunday after church as peaceful as possible, too.
Such beautiful gifts for your precious baby boy ❤ Anna, you should hang the cross stitch on babies wall. So amazing ❤
@@elainaswift2447 that’s a great idea ❤️
Book Idea for you, it's a little Krimi, it's called Glennkill: Ein Schafskrimi by Swann, Leonie. It is a detective story featuring a flock of Irish sheep out to solve the murder of their shepherd, the name of the main Sheep is called Ms Marple, lol.
@@skadiwolf1371 I have read it already. Loved it!
I love Sundays in Germany. When I visit my daughter, it is so nice to have a day that is quiet and just spend time together. I remember when Sundays were like that here in the states.
@@susantobin719 So does it mean you had similar laws in the US too or were people quieter on Sundays and didn’t work without these laws in place?
@@annaknitter there was not a law that I am aware of. Businesses were just closed on Sunday and then it all changed.
It is always great to see you! I am very excited to start a c2c blanket like yours, thanks for the idea! A relaxing Sunday is a terrific idea, more people should try it! Take care, see you in a couple weeks!!
Hi Anna, I hope you're doing well! I do have 3 TV series that I adore: 1st is short only 4 seasons because it's from a book colection, maybe you know: Vienna Blood (2019)- 2nd is: Miss Scarlet & Duke, and the 3rd tv series is: Chicago PD. All chicago series (3 or 4) are very good - Fire; PD; Med. All except Vienna Blood, are from (Fox) now star channel. I wish you a very short and very good, pain free, baby delivery, Anna!;) I wish all the blessings for you and your family, specialy your baby, what a christma's present...!!
Hi Anna how is Bennie? I haven't seen him lately.glad you're feeling better
I'm glad you're feeling better! I had a similar issue - had a cough for three weeks and was told it was an upper respiratory infection! Made sleeping almost impossible, especially with my own late second trimester baby boy bouncing around all night!
@@handstitchedlife oh that sounds like what I had. No uninterrupted sleep for me at all. And now I can’t lay so well for long anymore and I have to get up in the night because of the hip or back pain. Many nights on the sofa. 😂 But thankfully our baby is very calm and never kicks during the night. He sais hi 🙋🏼♀️ when I get up though. ☺️
Heartland series is lovely
so sorry you were ill....
I'm so glad that you are feeling better. Being sick while pregnant is not any fun. Especially when the baby sits on your kidney! Your projects are so nice and inspire me to try other knitting projects other than socks. I'm a newbie so socks are so fun and easy right now but look forward to knitting up other things in the future. Congrats on the Dryer for drying your laundry. That is going to be so much help when the baby arrives. Thanks for sharing your crafts and life with us. Looking forward to your next video soon. Take care!
@@make.create.repeat thank you very much for your kind words. I am impressed that you knit socks although you describe yourself as a newbie. That’s awesome! What other items are you confident making? There are many things you could probably enjoy which are the same or lower skill level for enjoyment knitting: mittens, wrist warmers, hats, scarfs, easy shawls, leg warmers, boot cuffs. For me the simple knits are the most enjoyable right now where I am in my life. I know I could knit fair isle sweaters and lace stoles but I wouldn’t enjoy it right now. A few years ago I though - especially as a knitting podcaster - I should knit more advanced things for the wow-effect and because all the other podcaster show off these amazing pieces. But now I accept who I am as knitter and enjoy it so much. ❤️
@@annaknitter I’ve tried knitting in the past but it just never stuck with me. Most likely because I started out as a crocheter and knitting seemed so different and intimidating. I’d start a few projects like scarves, boot cuffs, hats and complete a few but they weren’t very good so I gave up and went back to crochet. That was about 8 years ago so I’m giving it another go. I feel like a newbie again but I guess since I’ve tried it before maybe not so new as I feel. lol 😂. I had no confidence before but this time around I’m not as afraid of messing up or making mistakes. I do vanilla socks and plan on making them for awhile until I feel confident enough to move onto color work and different pattern stitches. I do a lot of research on TH-cam as well so that’s helped too. I think your knitting is amazing and love seeing your finished projects. They help to continue my confidence with tackling knitting again. I’m content with my vanilla socks for now. It’s fun trying different yarns though, seeing how they knit up. Especially self striping yarns! I’ll probably switch to hats after a bit then mittens and scarves. Loving this new craft. 😊
As always really enjoy your podcast. I purchased your sock size chart least week-it didn't; have different weights of yarn-only for 4 py sock yarn. What am I missing
@@Chanalaz I assume you bought the fingering weight table. There is one for fingering weight and one for fingering, sport and DK weight all together. Both are available in my shop.

@@tammyschniers569 thank you so very much ❤️🥰
Thank goodness you are beginning to feel better. Being sick and pregnant at the same time is certainly no fun. All of your finished projects are so pretty but I'm mostly thrilled for you about your cowl. It is seriously amazing and gorgeous. As for getting a dryer, YAY! It's such a necessary appliance with a little one.
Hi Anna! Had a similar illness! Took me weeks to recover my energy! Yup old people ( that's me) and pregnant women! Love your scarf and those socks for Tommy! So sad it's not available!😂 sometimes you just don't want crazy socks!! Fortunately my grand kids do!
Did you have RSV? I had it in May. I was so sick.
@@rdeniserhinehart7512 no thankfully not. That must be horrible.
Hi Anna, I looked up midwife on Google and this is what it says: 'The word “midwife” comes from the Old English words “mid” and “wife,” which literally mean “with-woman”. This refers to the fact that a midwife is a woman who assists another woman during childbirth.' Loved your podcast as always and I hope the rest of your cough will soon be gone completely. Lots of love from London 💝

@@debracubitt6191 thank you so much! He moved a bit to the side. The pain is less - at least! 😊
I can’t help with the history of the word “midwife”, but back in the day onesies were sometimes called “body suits”, especially the ones with long sleeves. Thanks for sharing your beautiful stitches!
I do hope you get to feeling better soon. It's aweful to be sick but even worse to be sick and pregnant. Could you give me some help on the house slippers that you make? I went to look at the pattern on the designers blog. There were so many comments of how confusing the pattern is and many questions asking her for clarification. Did you use this pattern when knitting all of the slippers for the guests coming into your home? Did you also find it confusing?
@@lwright622 the pattern by temple of knits is not confusing at all. It couldn’t be easier. You cast on a number of stitches and knit garter stitch flat. After that you close it in the round and knit stockinette. And then you start the decreases for the toe. It’s very easy.
@@annaknitter Thank you. I don't know why I let myself get intimidated with these reviews. Thanks for the encouragement.
