You also missed, arguably the most played sega dream cast game, PSO.... online multiplayer with thousands of people online before PS2 was out and no other consoles had online play. It was revolutionary.

Dreamcast was Da Bomb! It was way ahead of its time. Way better than anything out. Great games. But sadly the hype was already over by the time it was released. I think they burned too many people in the past

how GTA 5 managed to get those graphics is insane

I powered up my ps3 the other day to play GTA 4 for a bit, after I tried playing GTA 5. The graphics were much grainier and the line stepping was worse than I remembered. PS4 and ps5 spoiled me 🤣

Sega marine fishing was one of my favorite games on DC…when you caught fish they would be added to your aquarium and then you could swim in your aquarium to see all the fish and artifacts you collected. Another great game was Toy commander… I’m glad you mentioned Shenmue and MDK2

The discs were made using aluminum where they etched the data pattern. Aluminum corrodes. Used to have a dreamcast no idea what happened to it.

I love the Dreamcast and all console eras actually for what they were but boy are there lots of rose tinted glasses here and some utterly ridiculous comments...all I can see is how far we've come in videogames. Being able to have experiences like GT7 on PSVR2 or Elden Ring or God of War and a bunch of other games in my living room and acting as if its the worst thing to ever happen to videogames is just laughable and pathetic IMO... (I have never paid a single dollar in microtransactions maybe you should focus on what you want to play, not what you dont want to play just to whine like a karen)

I have a ps4 slim and ps3 slim and I have both cds for gow3 remastered and normal I don't see much difference

sorry you dude the dreamcast controler is very BAD VERY VERY VERY BAD i had the skin of my thumbs removed thx to its terrible joystick crap it had its very uncortable on the hands and the buttons after using a lot they sink trust me i know this cause i bought a dreamcast and i had it for 11 years. But i still love this console to death it was my very first console but FU the controler sucks.

so soul caliber on Dreamcast looked better than arcade because it's being played with an HDMI upgrader playable in 4k playing retro consoles in 4k doesn't do the system justice that would mean all consoles would look the same if played in 4k on today's tvs 480 or 720 would better justify playing these older console systems of that generation to get it as close as possible as it was programmed to be played in and the retrotink 2x is all that is needed

i remember when finally i have enough money to buy ps3, ps4 come out. and seeing my friend who have 3 ylod ps3 and rendering problem when play gta v. i think to buy ps4 instead. i still think that good choice. since my ps4 never broken like my friend ps3 (i have 3 friends have ps3, and all broken from fat, slim, and ss). but i kinda sad since i can play all ps3 exclusive (like GTA 4).

Dreamcast was the superior console. I owned the ps2 and Dreamcast and the Dreamcast looked better. Still all of my friends preferred and bought the ps2. And that is Sega's own fault. In the Netherlands, where I am from, there was 0 marketing for the Dreamcast, while Playstation already had a strong brand with the ps1, they still marketed the ps2 heavily and built up the hype. Only hardcore gamers like me knew about the Dreamcast. I think Sega underestimated that its not only about the hardware but also about the hype. The Saturn was stronger than the ps1, but still they lost. Because nobody knew the Saturn in the Netherlands. I don't know what it was. Maybe arrogance from Sega, thinking they would beat the newcomers Sony and Microsoft just because of their name? All in all its a shame, back in the days you had to think carefully which console to choose because each console had its characteristics and exclusive games. Nowadays it doesn't matter which you choose its all more of the same on each console.

Good video pleased I came across this. Dreamcast alongside Playstation 2 was my favourite console ever. I worked at a game shop during that time and bought one of the imported Japanese consoles we got in at the time. It blew me away. Now at 42 I own the entire dreamcast library and still enjoy it exactly the same as I always have. 😁

Yeah I still run my PS3 from time to time, and I feel like people have forgotten how awesome it was! Also especially awesome too that at launch there was a backwards compatible version that ran ps2.
