Immediately recognized the album cover as Coldplay. Clocks is one of my favorite songs! Very interesting discussion. Thanks for your insight.
ECM is highly recommended by me too.
@@gavinkerslake Agreed. A label I should have mentioned. I own a dozen titles by them but they are 30 or more years old so I overlooked them. Thank you for your comment and thank you for watching
Quite a few artists i love arent releasing physical product. All that does is make me forget them. And move on to another artist.
@@JJ-qs9hu I have been saying that to other viewers. It’s a shame. Once I stream an album that I really enjoy, if I cannot purchase physical media, that artist slowly fades away. Thank you for your comment and thank you for watching
Yeah I always go with black over the color variant if available
Ok, I have someone in my camp. Thank you for watching
Sad that young music fans wont be able to take a physical copy to a concert and have it signed by the artist. Streaming is evil. 😅

Buying vinyl isn’t “getting difficult” by any stretch of the imagination. 😂 People like you just aren’t happy unless you’re complaining about something new every five minutes.
I actually found three new artists this past weekend but none of them had any physical media available. It makes it that much harder to follow the artist if your memory fades. Thank you for your comments and thank you for watching
Just to add to your colored vinyl dislike, why do albums have to be on 180g vinyl? I have some 70's albums that are really light and floppy but play brilliantly. It can't be very green to manufacture with dense vinyl.
@@alanstewart7802 I never thought of that and since vinyl is a petroleum product, 180g albums are bad for the environment. Thank you for your comment and thank you for watching
It's a marketing gimmick just like coloured vinyl is.
Streaming has its place in media ..but its a souless experience...i remember going to buy Close to the edge by YES...in 72 holding it in my hands reading the sleeve notes for any hidden snipets. The alluring smell of the fresh vinyl was mesmerising ..as a 14 year old who saved up my money from his paperound...i felt like a millionaire..listening to the Album was a spiritual experience it effortlessly transported me to another time in space....i still have the original along with all the other YES and Genesis albums ..the Sleeve/ Cover artwork was futurustic and vibrant .Vinyl has that timeless quality of renaissance... what a time to be a teen ....unique memories/simpler times.and Vinyl is the time machine that allows me access to the past ... Rainy days in Glasgow Scotland..were a little brighter back then. Vinyl for me ❤....thanks for the video..really enjoyed ..subbed 😊
@@GrahamWilliamson-d1x Thank you for the memories. Similar experience when I bought home “Fragile” and “Dark Side”. I do believe that vinyl will be a music option for many years to come. Thank you for your comments and thank you for watching
I do am not interested in buying overpriced records from anyone . I collect compact discs cheaper and great sound and easier to store i enjoyed your video. A few points i good not get a few artists albums because they were only download or on record i was disgusted these were new artists but in there wisdom they decided to sell over priced record of there album i refuse to buy records . This is vinyl revival is manufacted by the record industry to screw costomers the emperors new clothes springs to mind . I stream music but prefer a phyical copy in my hand a compact disc . Ryan Adams has been cancelled by the music industry he is a victim of woke culture i do not agree with this he has not been found guilty of any crime but still is been punishedd the only way to get his recent albums is by his website and some of his recents albums have been very good but thats another story . I believe that 1 day there no more internet many will disagree . I think the mystery album is the 2nd album from Coldplay . If i really want a album on phyiscal release i wait 2 examples The Smashing Pumpkins 2024 release and Jack white 2024 were first download or streaming i waited and eventually purchased both compact discs . I watched your end of years list u come across as patient and a music lover .

Hi Alex this is the first video of yours I've seen & you make many valid points. The album cover is Coldplay a rush of blood to the head all the best from Rob in Devon England.
It's getting more tricky to buy cds too. Unrealistic pricing on preowned discs. New releases with higher prices which can sometimes quickly be subject to surge pricing on Amzn when there are no further reprints Andrew - South Devon
@@robmills537 I know it was an easy one on this video. Good job. Glad to know that there are viewers in England. Thank you for watching
@@andrewbrazier9664 I am having similar problems here in the States. I just discovered two new artists over the weekend and no physical media. Thank you for your comments and thank you for watching
The availability of vinyl depends with genre. Dance/techno has long ONLY been available on vinyl, and will remain so. Small indie bands are also more likely to continue maintaining vinyl as streaming is disproportionally favoring larger acts. So the disappearance act for vinyl will be in the mid-level pop music. In classics, particularly niche classics (I am into HIPP baroque, renaissance, and weird bowed string instruments), vinyl has long ceased to exist. CD or bust. -- Re waiting and missing out on vinyl: preorder. No problem. There are a few artists who release physical media in minute quantities. Glaring's latest 30 tapes sold out in under 3 hours. I was too slow. That annoys me and makes me less likely to support the artist in any form.
@@danielgeiger7739 I have similar experiences. I love Joan Shelley and a few years back she made a live album and only pressed 500 copies. By the time I found out about the vinyl, all copies were sold. Thank you for your comments and thank you for watching
Hi Alex. Interesting video. Perhaps vinyl will always be a niche area, but it will be interesting to see if the 24 data shows any increase in sales or better hasn't shown any decrease. I don't think the 'coolness' factor has worn off over here in the UK yet but buyers are I think are cautious because of cost, so remain choosy. I recently had to import an album from the US as I couldn't get it here. I know that album cover, but I won't say who the artist is unless no one else gets it. I think your home audience may struggle as they are much more known over here.
@@alanstewart7802 I would own several dozen more albums if it wasn’t for less physical media. Most of the artists I’m seeing this happen to previously had LPs/CDs available. Thank you for your comments and thank you for listening
And I agree with your comments. I search for CD quality digital downloads from eg Bandcamp or Qobuz when physical media are not available.
Thanks for the shoutout! Surprised no one else go it. I’ve lived with that album for nearly 60 years, it was an exciting time to be a teenager.
A great time indeed. Probably will never be another time like that. I believe that since I place the unknown album at the end of the video, fewer viewers see it. Thank you for watching
In a little bit of a rant mode, are we? I feel you... Bands have to wait for their vinyl pressing because of the 35 different vinyl pressing of our dear Taylor Swift... Just like a few years back, the pressing plants were clogged with Adele's latest album... I get you with color pressings but I never had any issue with cleaning dust... what is really hard to see sometimes is the groove, like when you want to cue a specific song.. it can be really hard to find. For once, the unknown album is not so unknown (to me at least): Coldplay - A Rush of Blood To the Head their second a still decent album. Cheers.
Good job. I was in a generous mood. I complained about that very thing to a record store owner and he was adamant that Adele did not cause any backlog. I’m with you on this one. Thank you for your comments and thank you for watching

No need for the MoFi version of 'Sea Change', the regular vinyl is spectacular! The best sounding record I currently own is RCA Living Stereo - Ravel/Munch 'Daphnis & Chloe'. The one I don't agree on is 'Pet Sounds', I don't think that it is sonically great, to be honest I think it's a very overrated album. GREAT SOUNDING FOR HOW LONG BEFORE NEEDLE TO VINYL WEAR DEGRADES EVEN THE BEST MAINTAINED EQUIPMENT? THE VERY NATURE OF THE VINYL FORMAT IS BASED UPON DEGRADABILITY AFTER REPEAT PLAYS,LIKE ANY KIND OF TAPE FORMAT IS BASED UPON SHREDDING AFTER REPEAT PLAYBACK. BOTH INHERENTLY DEGRADEABLE FORMATS UNLIKE LASER BASED CDS. THIS VINYL REVIVAL OF THE LAST 20 OR SO YEARS IS NOTHING BUT A BIG SCAM. OVERPRICED VINYL AND SMUG ANALOG SUPPOSED SUPERIORITY MIXED WITH NOSTALGIA. CDS ARRIVED IN THE MID 80S BECAUSE OF VINYL ANALOG INFERIORITY. IN EVERY AREA. SKIPPING AND WARPING OF EVEN NEW VINYL. CONTINUAL DEGRADATION WITH REGULAR LP PLAYBACK VS NONE WITH LASER BASED DIGITAL CDS. MUCH LESS SPACE NEEDED TO STORE A LARGE CD COLLECTION VS BUCKLING WALL SHELVES AND MILK CRATES EVERYWHERE WITH A LARGE LP COLLECTION. THE NEED TO DUPLICATE LPS ONTO TAPE AND LATER FILES FOR PORTABLE PLAYBACK VS EASY CAR CD PLAYER PORTABILITY. BEYOND THE ANALOG VS DIGITAL APPLES AND ORANGES DEBATE CD WINS HANDS DOWN. NO CONTEST. CDS ORIGINALLY OVERPRICED BUT NOW DRASTICALLY LOWER IN PRICE THAN VINYL. I HAVE CDS NEARLY 40 YEARS OLD THAT PLAY LIKE NEW. VERY LITTLE MAINTENANCE BEYOND CLEANING AND PROPER HANDLING AND STORAGE.. TRY CONTINUALLY PLAYING A 40 YEAR OLD VINYL LP REGARDLESS OF THE HIGH QUALITY EQUIPMENT BEING USED. VINYL IS THE DOMAIN OF DIEHARD LUDITES AND YOUNG FANS OF THIS INHERENTLY FLAWED FORMAT WHO WEREN'T AROUND IN THE LATE 70S AND EARLY 80S WHEN CDS OVERTOOK AND REPLACED A CLEARLY INFERIOR FORMAT IN SOUND PORTABILITY AND STORAGE. YOUTH HAVE BEEN SOLD A BILL OF GOODS AND A LIE. IT NEVER GOT BETTER THAN THE CD AND TRYING TO IMPROVE ON THE LAST HANDS ON COLLECTIBLE FORMAT IS LIKE TRYING TO REINVENT AND IMPROVE UPON THE WHEEL. THE IRONY HERE IS THE FACT THAT WHILE VINYL ENTHUSIASTS CLING TO AN OLD FLAWED FORMAT THEY HAVE THE NEED TO CONTINUALLY UPGRADE TO THE LATEST I-PHONE TECHNOLOGY. DESPERATE TO HANG ONTO A ROMANTICIZED BUT VERY FLAWED FORMAT YET BY CONTRAST WOULDN'T BE HAPPY WITH A FLIP PHONE AND SOMEHOW TRYING TO MERGE OLD RETRO VINYL TECHNOLOGY WITH THE LATEST IN I-PHONE TECHNOLOGY. DOESNT MAKE MUCH SENSE
