I really enjoy your show first time I see it how much does it cost to describe
camera view suuuuuuucks, really would have loved to be able to see what you were doing, sorry not sorry but this is not a tutorial AT ALL... I would refer to other earring makers on TH-cam for some better camera angles :)
Bag, that was swell.
Hi Lexi, Beginner here. Thank you for the inspiration. I'm curious about the tool you created the border with. Looks like a leather scratch compass? (I just learned what that is today. lol) I wondered what type of tip yours has that created that perfect depth border. Thank you
Beautiful work! My boss would’ve made me glue absolutely every seam 😂 I hated that part! I like your way
💯👍❤️
How do I sharpen a corner or half round punch?
Talking to Zach the other day, he mentioned this product from Weaver www.weaverleathersupply.com/products/punch-sharpener
Thank you for the info
"We're adults, Derek." hahahahahahhaha!!!!!
great video but that name illume is HORRIBLE.Go back to original name...please
🤣🤧
Using a buffer to polish the awl is when you have to be careful about heat buildup.
nice work, what kind of machine is that?
Zach is using a Cobra Class 4 Stitcher by Leather Machine Co
We’re do you get the foam at for the
Loved this !
😂 hair …. hare Don’t apologize, that’s a quality dad joke
👋😀👍
Im not a saddle baker, but I got a lot of knowledge out of this video. Thanks
We love to hear that!
Not everyone is into saddle making as a leather crafter. Seems all that illume wants to make videos on. No sense in renewing my subscription if all illume wants to do is make saddle making content. Saddle makers are the minority of leather crafters. No offense meant, but many of us yearn for a magazine like the old leather craftsman that makes modern articles and patterns. Today's leather magazines concentrate on saddle making and intricate carving articles. That does not reflect on who the majority and average leather crafter is.
Then go somewhere else,
@@travismorgan7315 Lol. Noted. I won't waste my money on a magazine like this. When enough of us decide the same, then you can write your own magazine and try to sell it. I can watch that magazine not get subscribers too. Saddle makers are the extreme minority of leather crafters. Nothing wrong with those who want to make saddles. There is something wrong with a magazine disguising itself as a crafting magazine that only wants to produce saddle maker content. This is the reason the two magazine that are sold to leathercrafters, struggle with gaining subscribers. They forgot who the bulk of the readers ARE. I would be better off buying books or paying for a membership someplace else, to get more valuable content. You seem to like it, great. I think you are in the minority and at some point there will be no more Illume because it's not written for most leathercrafters. Companies that do not listen to their paying customers are doomed to failure. It's not like this would be a big loss, IMO.
Thank you for sharing your thoughts with us. We genuinely value feedback from our community, as it helps us grow and better serve leathercrafters like you. Our goal at Illume is to provide a wide variety of content to cater to all leathercrafters, from saddle makers to those who specialize in smaller projects or other niches. We understand your concerns about the balance of content, and we're actively working to expand our offerings to include a broader range of topics and techniques. Your suggestion about modern articles and patterns is a great idea, and we’d love to hear more about the types of projects or topics you'd find most valuable. If you are a subscriber on learn with Illume please reach out to our support team and they can help you find what you are looking for or they can let our production team know the projects we need to get on the platform. You can also reach out to us by email, go to www.illumeconnect.com and scroll to the bottom of the page. Thank you for being part of the Illume community. We hope you’ll continue to engage with us as we strive to provide content that inspires and supports leathercrafters of all interests.
Man I think they do a great job. Sure they have videos and articles on saddle making. They also have boot making and businesses that do firefighting gear. Pretty much all aspects of the craft. How about go to a show and talk to them or pick up the phone and have a conversation. For years the biggest issue with the horse show community was the community tearing each other down. You will always have that no matter what hobby or trade you are a part of but eventually you either try to be a part of the solution or take your toys and play in your own sandbox.
@@jamesw.3491 have you been on their platform? They literally have everything…. From holsters, wallets, boots, saddles, chaps, different upholstery techniques, how to use different exotics. How to care for tools and a business class. Tons of different instructors that are at the top of the industry. Not to mention what magazine are you reading? Even the issues that have an article about a saddle maker has plenty of information on other aspects of leather. Im not looking to argue but you are just wrong.
George awesome.I watch all his videos
You said blue loctite. But will red loctite work
George suggest using blue so if the need arises you can remove it in the future. Red is probably fine as long as you aren't planning on unscrewing it in the future.
Great vid on this style of knife.. im retired from the slaughter hiuse and meat cutting.. always been good at sharpening.. but the head knife is little different..similar to my curved skinning knives.. your vid, one the best ive seen, on detailed sharpening of the head knife.. thanks
I thought the water bottle bag was the coolest 🏆
❤
Awesome ❤

There is no sound from the 1:42:22 mark of those being interviewed.
Thank you we didn't realize it wasn't sending on the stream. We'll get that fixed.
This was an issue with TH-cam and the Music Licensing. Thanks again for letting us know there was an issue.
Thousand views and no comments…hmmm. Nice and clear instruction Trevor. What type of sewing machine were you using on the inlay?
The machine is a Leather Machine Co. Cobra Class 4
We can hear your audio very good !❤
I liked that team #2 Aaron and Jim are world famous for perfect leather crafting but also that Leandra Martin is so beautiful and nice to be around it’s no wonder why team #2 creates a project that will turn heads and stop other teams in their tracks. By the way I’ve bought many top of the line handbags for my wife but the Leandra Martin bag is by far her favorite.
The problem is that he doesn't give the measurements to cut your own out.
The pattern is available here for free - illumeconnect.com/free-leathercrafting-patterns/
Wonderful teacher and gentlemen
Such a great interview with George. He has been a wealth of information over the years and I am fortunate enough to call him a friend. Such an amazing guy who strives to keep our craft alive and thriving for many generations to come. Thanks George for being such an inspiration to us all.
Can confirm, George is good people!!
Back at cha Todd 🙌Thank you my friend
I’d like to have some wings on my taps 3-4 inches perhaps
My kind of guy
Thank you Roger!
I was always taught not to oil your Latigo cuz it could make it stretch is that not true
This has got to be the clearest instructions / walkthrough ive seen. Other vids have left me in a sort of "i think i get it" spot. This one is so clear i have no doubts on how to do it! Very well done, and so glad you made+shared it!
You're welcome! We love to hear feedback on the content we are producing.
You remind me of of my dad teaching me how to hang and finish drywall. Now I know this is not a class on drywall , but it is a class on a trade that you have knowledge about. My dad always told never ignore advice or a technique or tip when working along side anyone in the same trade. Not all advice or tips or tricks are good , as time goes on youll get better at figuring that out. All that matters as long as the end result of your work is what the customer wanted. And of course to make the most money at as possible getting the best result faster than any other contenders. .. not only the best product gets the check sometimes the first one standing there to pick that check up is the customers choice to get the at job done
Miss Garvey, your work is absolutely fantastic!
Western Skies has quickly become one of the favorite parts of my IG feed, It is always amazing to see the amazing work being done. Super inspirational. Thank you to Illume for helping me know about Miss Garvey.
hey Trevor, what brand of edgers are you using? Thanks
The one in the video is a Horseshoe Brand Edger. Trevor says any quality edger will do this job. Ron's Tools and Barry King are tow other suggestions he made in terms of tool makers. Sizing is also a little different among makers so as I understand it a #3 Ron's Tool Edger or a #2 Barry King Grooved Edger will do the job. If you are purchasing new edgers, it is worth it to talk to your supplier about the weight of leather you will be edging. Hope that helps! -Derek
Behind every successful man is an intelligent rock of support and push. Janie Sue had your back.
The best of the best in people.
Hello
👍
Super clean stitching that was awesome 👍
Where do you find the patterns for different tapadaro patterns?
You should be able to do a google search to find other patterns. This pattern is available here. illumeconnect.com/free-leathercrafting-patterns/
Love Aaron & Janie Sue. The marriage counseling segment of this deal was pretty informative, too. Good stuff!
My saddles were made by Wade Warren, Clint Marrs, Bill McDonald. Those (and similar Visalia, Olsen Nolte, etc.) saddles were made with leather ground seats, shaped to the customer's sit bones. So there are other ways besides the metal strainer.
I’ve been searching and searching and searching for a video JUST LIKE THIS. Thank you for sharing. You should have your own school on saddles. Great work
That is awesome! We are glad you found what you were after. Trevor teaches a lot on our online learning platform www.learnwithillume.com there are two saddle courses there currently with almost 100 other leather working courses taught by a variety of leather artisans.
Matt's an awesome instructor. This was outstanding.
