Hiking and outdoor adventures in Ireland and beyond
Hi, my name's Matthew Houston, and alongside my brother Scott, we like to adventure into the great outdoors and explore Irelands many beautiful mountains, and you've been invited along for the ride.
Often poorly planned, lost and confused, climbing in our unique style that we have dubbed "The Houston Way"

Scafell Pike, England's Highest Mountain
This weeks video, the final from our trip to England & Wales, sees us travel from England's deepest Lake, Wast Water in Wasdale to the summit of its tallest mountain, Scaffel Pike.
Scafell Pike stands at 978m/ 3,209ft and is part of the Scafell massif and one of the Southern Fells in the Cumbrian mountains of the Lake District.
The name Scafell is believed to derive from the Old Norse skalli fjall, meaning either the fell with the shieling or the fell with the bald summit
Along with other surrounding peaks, Scafell Pike is believed to be part of an extinct volcano, last active 400-450 million years ago.
The views along Wast Water lake were absolutely stunning, and Scafell Pike itself was a really enjoyable climb.
With great sadness this video is dedicated to the memory of our father Alan Houston, an incredible father and friend, from whom we inherited a great love and appreciation for the outdoors.

This weeks video takes us to The Ercall and Wrekin Hills in Shropshire, England. An idea which stemmed from poundlands' knock-off Toblerone, "Twin Peaks" chocolate bars which claim to be inspired by The Ercall & Wrekin hills (as opposed to Toblerones' Matterhorn/Alps) One might argue its an awful long way to travel for this joke... but not us! This is a very gentle and relaxing forest walk from...

The thatched cottage at 2:25 is fake - a film set for Dungeons & Dragons a few years ago.
I first visited Carrowmore with my Dad in1950.
@@PanglossDr nice one... im sure the only thing that has changed is the entry price.
@@TheHoustonWay It is totally different now. Many of the monuments were overgrown, it was a struggle to find some of them. It did seem to me when I re-visited as an adult that there were far fewer monuments but it was possibly an imperfect recollection.
4:11 any idea what angling club owns The Ercall Reservoirs ?
@hate8224 sorry, no idea! ... the only thing I've ever caught while fishing was the cold. ATB

I wondered what was the product from Muckish mountain and have discovered that it was sand to be used in the making of glass, possibly as far back as the days of the Roman empire!
Thanks guys, beautiful time of day.
