Cycling 200km from Montreal to Ottawa - a spectacular ride! (except for Rigaud, QC...)
In August 2024 I rode my bike more than 200km from Montréal to Ottawa - the longest single-day bike ride I'd ever done. Come and join me for the adventure along the regional Quebec roads and the delightfully scenic rail trail that took me 85km from St-Eugène, Ontario, almost all the way into Ottawa!

My 43km walk across Montreal: Sainte-Anne-de-Bellevue to the Old Port
มุมมอง 5K3 หลายเดือนก่อน
In July 2024 I walked 43km from Sainte-Anne-de-Bellevue in the far western end of Montreal to the Old Port. It was a beautiful, vibrant summer's day - a stark contrast to the 60km walk I did across the entirety of Montreal island earlier in the year. Come along with me for the walk! Here's my Strava log of the walk: www.strava.com/activities/12006370194 And here's the video of the 60km walk I d...
The abandoned ruins of Fort Montgomery! My 200km return bike ride from Montréal to Rouses Point
มุมมอง 8455 หลายเดือนก่อน
In July 2024 I went on a 200km round-trip bike ride from Montréal QC to Rouses Point NY to see the abandoned ruins of Fort Montgomery (a.k.a. "Fort Blunder," for reasons which will become apparent in the video). Along the way I passed through some beautiful small towns and their connecting bike paths, including Chambly, Saint-Jean-sur-Richelieu and Saint-Valentin, before arriving in Rouses Poin...
I walked 60km from one end of Montreal to the other
มุมมอง 167K8 หลายเดือนก่อน
Join me for an epic 60km adventure where I walked from the very northeastern tip of Montréal island at Parc du Bout-de-l'Île, to the southwestern point at Sainte-Anne-de-Bellevue. This preposterous promenade took me nearly 14.5 hours to complete, but it was a wonderful way to see parts of the city I’d never otherwise see. If you enjoyed this, check out my video where I rode my bike 150km around...
What'll Russ Cook Up Next? - A song for the Hardest Geezer
มุมมอง 1.6K9 หลายเดือนก่อน
At the time of writing this, Russ Cook, otherwise known as The Hardest Geezer, is a week away from completing his nearly year-long, 16,000 kilometre run from the southernmost point of South Africa to the northernmost tip of Tunisia. History will be made when he crosses that finish line. Like thousands of others, I’ve been following his journey via the TH-cam series put together by his fantastic...
Reuniting with a lost melody: my 25 year search for a song!
มุมมอง 59510 หลายเดือนก่อน
CANE FIRE by STRUM, written by Timo Tolvanen, from the EP Distant Rain. Way back in 1998 at the youthful age of 14, I heard a particular song a single time on CMT, the chorus of which embedded deeply into my memory. I've been trying to search for it ever since, and finally I tracked it down - a quarter of a century later! This is the story of how I rediscovered it. You can find more info about ...
10km straight line jog in Montreal on the coldest day of the year
มุมมอง 1K10 หลายเดือนก่อน
Saturday 24th of March 2024 was the coldest day of the year in Montreal at -14ºC, which just happened to coincide with the day I planned to jog 10km along Avenue Papineau, the longest, straightest stretch of road (that I know of) on Montreal island. Join me to see if I made it!
A short tour of Casa Amarela Cemetery in Recife, Brazil
มุมมอง 23211 หลายเดือนก่อน
In January 2024 I paid a visit to the Cemitério de Casa Amarela in Recife, Pernambuco, Brazil. I loved the aesthetic of this place, especially the stark contrast between the peacefulness of the graveyard and the chaos of the surrounding neighbourhood.
The Dog Chapel: A Tribute to Coco

I visited the Dog Chapel, on top of Dog Mountain, in St. Johnsbury, Vermont, to pay tribute to my parent's adorable English Staffy, Coco. Built in 2000 by Stephen Huneck, the Dog Chapel is a wonderfully peaceful and moving little sanctuary that anyone can visit to remember their dearly departed pets. I found where the true Old people of Olds spend their time

In September 2023 I travelled one hour out of my way to Olds, Alberta, pretty much because it has a funny name and I wanted to get a pic by the town's sign. I ended up finding where the true Old people of Olds spend their time.

My straight-line mission across Montreal's Mont-Royal
มุมมอง 1.1Kปีที่แล้ว
I've always been curious if it's possible to walk across the entirety of Mont-Royal - the mountain situated smack-bang in the middle of Montreal city - in a straight line. I recently put this to the test and embarked upon a mission to get from Côte-Sainte-Catherine, on the western end of the mountain, to Saint-Catherine, on the eastern end. Did I succeed? Watch and find out! Of course, the mast...

I put together this video of the experience, highlighting our visit to two coffee farms tucked away in the Antioquia mountains, as well as the Central Mill and the dry parchment coffee purchasing point. I hope you enjoy!

Came for fligugigu, hooked on the bike riding content 😂
Wtf is this guy talking about
As an Ottawa resident, I'm really happy to have found this video! Kudos on your trip!
4:24 :) :) :)
This video was a real nostalgia trip for me. I used to live in the west island of MTL, moved to Vaudreuil in my teen years, and now as an adult live in the outskirts (east) of Ottawa. you passed through a few of my homes and this was soo cool to see from a perspective that isn't my car windows. Great video!
A lot of us West Islanders are now in Orleans.
Man it was my apartment building that got flooded!
My best friend did MTL to Toronto 🙂
I had max 30 000 steps so far. I like walking and e-bike around Montreal .Some streets are too noisy and full of car . I cant believe everyone has a car and drive everywhere. Mostly one person per car . I don't have car and people are really surprised when I am saying that. I mostly use metro during winter and than e-bike good weathers. I am saving money and contribute the environment with green transport.
5:21 Ste. Suzanne church near A Ma Baie where I grew up ❤
Why? Were you upset?
I just came across this video. I am a Vaudreuil local and know some areas you cycled in very well. Some parts of the road along the Lake of Two Mountains have recently been repaved, but a lot of it is in poor condition. Also, I could have told you about the trail in Rigaud :) It is somewhat manageable in Rigaud if you get on a bit further, but there is a nicer road leading up to the St Eugene pavillion, where the real Prescott Russell trail actually starts. I have only gone as far as Vankleek Hill though, so thanks for showing me the rest of the trail. It is a trip I want to try one day. I admit that the part where the trail ends and the roads around Ottawa are making me nervous.
Solid ride Minus the trail being closed
Glad you enjoyed Ottawa! Definitely subbed, quiet the ride.
Nice ! Well filmed , you captured most of the little details I remembered. I have done sections of that path many times but never in one go , well done ! You've given me inspiration to go back (in summer, for sure).
it"s 44.9 KM ;p0)
First big ride ive ever done back in the 90s when i was 16 years old. grew up in Laval, started there and finished at my friends house in Orleans. think it was 180ks, finished on my hands and knees. The headwind was annoying. Best ridden in the opposite direction.
the secret to cows corn is if you are on a couple of days bike pack or tour is bring a solution of pineapple juice and water and soak it for the day
I did fews year ago Gatineau to Montreal but use Quebec side by using the green route took me about 17h to get to Montreal I was leaving Gatineau a 7 am but sadly for me the days didn't go well got some rain during the trip so that's slow my ride also do too many stop too eat I finally arrived in 2 am in Montreal and then I didn't have money for hotel so I sleep in a 24h restaurant then take greyhound bus back to Gatineau
What kind of shoes do you use?
the final approach to Sainte-Anne-de-Bellevue after Fairview Pointe Claire could have been a long Gouin Blvd, its not rural but the homes are far apart, it's definitely a longer trip and it can be hilly in places but the roads are heavily forested, its peaceful and relaxing, one section has mansions on big plots of land, a few of them are interesting or nice to see, i like to cycle along that stretch.
Very nice walk! I also like to walk, and I have walked every section of your route except a portion of Lachine and the western portion of the canal. I have never attempted it in one go. I used to live in Baie d'Urfe and now live in Verdun. The walk along the shore of LaSalle and Verdun is also beautiful. I don't think I could do a 40km walk with my flat feet. My absolute max is about half that - and then I take two or three days to recover.
I used to water the flowers beds in Pointe Claire, Stewart Hall was always a favourite site.
Awesome video Laval’s roads are shite but the route very which passes through the middle and in the older parts of Laval is great in the summer and links up to a bridge to MTL
There are plenty of $nake'% here in Canader , especially the one's from Canary Warf eh !
I've been thinking about doing this path for a few years but had heard it wasn't well maintained and let go of the idea. I wish I saw this earlier in the year, maybe next year I'll give it a go!
Thanks for this kind of contents.. Helps us to see those places that have been seen and undiscovered breath taking places...
On the bucket list for sure
My buddy did this and back on his longboard lol.
Biking in Canada is uninteresting and not worthwhile. The people there hate the cyclists.
I find people are driving wayyy too fast for the road conditions all the time. Then they get in an accident and wonder what happened. Slow down ppl lol
Did the reverse trip in high school (in 2 days) and it was quite a nice ride. Loved the journey video.
Congratulations. I ride an old railway bed from Cambridge Ontario to Port Dover on Lake Erie. My numbers matched your pretty close. -left at 5am rode 6 hrs and arrived in Dover [approx 50 miles] -rested for about 1.5 hrs -rode back to Cambridge, arrived at 8 pm 12 hrs solid pedalling, 10 minute breaks about once an hr, rest before returning 1.5 hrs total day was 15 hrs. On this day I just rode beyond my normal range and kept going. I didn't plan when I left the house to go further than my daily 30 mile ride on the same trail. I highly suggest to anybody to just go for and see what you are made of. It feels really cool to be a long ways from home.
How ironic I am retired an avid rail trailer and i just sign my apartment lease today for my Montreal home can't wait to ride this
Those Palestinian immigrants always have to ruin everything
We all have that friend who say "we can walk there".
Mate what POV camera do you use and how do you mount it? I've been looking for one for quite some time now!
are there any Trails going up too Barr's Bay?
I love biking in summer ! I usually look for the most beautiful scenery gravel trails , It's great cardio, and you get to see and hear the beauty of nature ..
I'm going to check out that trail next summer, looks nice
I have a picture on instagram of me on that bridge that blocked your view of the river lol! Nice video really enjoyed! 9:07
at 12:40 you're near my place
this is awesome!
the prescott-russell trail is a favourite of mine living in the east end of ottawa, it might have been slightly longer of a trip but i would have recommended you do the ottawa river trail to get from blackburn where the P-R trail ends into parliment hill. avoids traffic and road riding down town, and has amazing views being right beside the river.
From ottawa, the last leg of your journey near the geegees field is a staple of my weekend rides. Good hustle on the journey, hoping to try it myself someday to visit my friend in mtl!
Thanks for taking me on your adventure!
You missed the Ottawa river path from Orleans to parliament!
Circles of gold also a great song!
Mate so glad you’ve tracked this down, great album! I was a kid at Tim’s math tutoring in Pennant Hills and he gave me a copy of the album which i lost years ago, thank you!!!
Amazing looking trail. 11:50 you show houses crammed next to one another after 100 km of *nothing*. What is wrong with Canada?
I did 200 kms with my custom 2004 west coast chopper bicycle that weighs 300 pounds a couple years ago from bancroft ontario to Kingston ontario
