This was cool! Timo is my grandad and I’m glad you had a good experience! I honestly didn’t know his career went this far back, so it was quite interesting.

That's amazing! Thank you for your message. I'm happy to hear you got to learn something about your granddad :)

Hi Dan. WOW!! I'm Glenn, the engineer/co-producer of this track (and more) with Strum. Timo just sent me your link for the video. What a story!!! Glad you got a copy - and signed, we only had a few of those. It's a shame the song never had enough airplay to garner commercial success, it's one of Timo's best. Just fabulous to hear your story, all the very best. :)

Thanks for getting in touch Glenn, I’m glad you enjoyed the video! It’s a wonderful song indeed, it must have been a pleasure to work on all those years ago. Cheers and all the best to you too!

Wow. Loved it. What an amazing song! You should've added that you even worked in a music store that sold CDs haha.
Man I had the exact same thing but I knew where it was from. It was from the original transformers cartoon and couldn't find the song online for years. Eventually someone uploaded a massive collection of music from the tv show and out of about 50 tracks the show used this was the very last one 😂. The Joy of hearing it for the first time in probably was 25 years as well was amazing. Here is the song with my journey.... And if you look at the comments it seems I'm not the only one who went on that musical search

Thanks so much Mark! It's a great song, isn't it? You know, I even remember using the old APRA/AMCOS search engine we had access to back in those days at Wow, but it never led me to anything. I totally forgot about that.
And thanks for sharing your story & link to the Transformers tune, that's awesome, it must have been a blast to hear it after so long. It's exactly what I'd expect a Transformers jingle to sound like. I was looking up one of the composers, Robert J. Walsh, and found he did some stuff for Looney Tunes too. Which is funny because another old piece from my childhood I rediscovered recently was the Bugs Bunny / Elmer Fudd "What's Opera Doc" (arranged by a different composer, mind you). It was a lot easier to find What's Opera Doc than it was to find Cane Fire, though!

Actually an amazing song. Strange how some music skips through the cracks. Surprised it's not huge

Wow, this was very special to watch, Dan. I’m Timo’s daughter, nearly the exact same age as you, and I feel like I went on this journey with you to hear one of my favourite songs from my youth.
Although I’ve had the privilege of listening to Dad continue to write, play, record and perform music over the past two decades, I hadn’t heard Cane Fire in nearly as long. What sweet memories it brought back to hear it once again!
I’m so glad you were able to scratch this 25 year itch, but also that it connected you with my dad. He’s an amazing guy, so hopefully you keep in touch. 😊

Very nice to hear from you, Nat, thank you for your message. I love that the video resonated with you and brought back your own memories of this fantastic song. It was a 25 year itch indeed, you can’t imagine how excited I was when I finally made that connection to your dad thanks to the Discogs entry!

What I want to know is how you came across this obscure little youtube channel talking about the song to begin with!

Hey Dan, you won’t believe this but I knew Timo from many years back having gone to church together and (occasionally) playing music together in Castle Hill. Check out their self-titled album which also has some great tracks

That's incredible Jeff, what a small world! If only I'd thought to ask around the old SC team I could have solved this mystery a decade ago. I will certainly try to source the self-titled album, I can't see anything available on eBay or Discogs but will keep my eye out. Hope everything is going well with you!
