Good comments about the Girl's Rugby Programmes in NZ. NZRugby really need to step up here and provide some pathways.

The real problem is not that the Chiefs or Blues should have 2 teams at a national champ tournament , the problem is, is that Hurricanes and Southern teams wouldn't be in a top 6 tournament if we had a valid and reliable ranking system that gave teams entry into a top 5 or 6 national champs. So, if HAM beats Gisborne (who I love) they get 5 points but if HAM beats AGS or TBG they get 10. Problem is getting the weighting correct and if traditional games should be included. Anyway, at the moment the Top 4 sux as a tournament and does not accurately show the top team in country.

I went to the Wellington trials you talk of over 20 years ago and can assure you that those teams were 90% picked before any game. It’s was actually the specific school coaches influence and club connections.

Could you please add back sections

They don't do Trials like they use too. But it is the key to seeing talent that isn't recognized through mainstream schools. Combined teams for end of season or preseason to get names out there.

Good podcast. Question: do you think schools like Westlake will have to stop streaming their games if they get in the Auckland 1A? They stream their rugby, basketball and football with student commentators. As an old boy, it’s great to watch their games from overseas. I don’t get why we’re reducing access to school sport when so many people want to be connected to it.

Palmy were the favourites at last years U15 Invitational Nationals. It was a major upset when Hastings beat them in the QF. Their outside backs were freaks.

In the pre season game between sacred and st kents... sacred strongly dominated in the first half. But when the 2nd 15 players came on the field in th 2nd half is when st kents brought the game back to a respectable score.

Westlake made the Auckland and National U15 finals last year. The Harbour 1A is only going to get worse over the next couple of years.
