Here's my question... the way you demonstrated the z-clips moving isn't the way a tabletop expands. You showed vertical expansion when wood expands horizontally. So do z-clips help manage wood movement, or are they really just meant to attach tabletops (which is still really nice)? It seems like the mortise depth is the more important thing for management of tabletop expansion/contraction.
Nice job explaining the process. However I like wiping down the board after sanding and before staining.
Very straight forward. Thanks a lot. Can you reuse the brush cleaning solution ? What do you do with it when you’re finished?
Great video! What are your recoat times for the Parks Pro? I am seeing directions for 8 hours between coats and no more than 2 in one day. That is 3 days for 5 coats with another 24 hours to cure so 4 days total? Seems excessive if you follow the manufacturer.
u NEED TO LEARN HOW TO CLEAN THE GUN FASTER IF YOU WANT TO BE A PRO. TIME IS MONEY!!!!! DO IT!!!!!
You do you.
STOP DESTROYING THE ENVIRONMENT AND JUST USE SOAP AND WATER!!!!!!
Ok. I will change everything I do.
Good...good. you will be helping the environment. STOP DUMPING ACETONE ON MY EARTH!!!!
Baltic Birch plywood absolutely needs wood conditioner!! Improves the stained look, it will be blotchy if you don’t!
How so?
Man, thank you so much for this video. Just picked up a Semi-Pro 2 and I've been looking on directions to adapt the PPS system. No clear instructions or 3M part numbers out there... until now. Great video!
good video
Great video, thanks for pointing out the removal of the ring, I just bought the stuff to convert my Fuji and I thought that didn't look right, your video came up in my search and clarified it. Also, I thought it would be good to mention that a key benefit of this system that I bought it for is the ability to spray in any direction (with the pressure cup of course.) When getting into the crevices and so forth on furniture / cabinets etc... it's a game changer, I used to switch between guns and have even more cleanup before going to PPS 1.0
Thank you for the video. Exactly what I needed. I have 2 questions. What is the "thickness" level the paint should be to make you want to switch to the H/O system? Second question - How do you measure the thickness? (Newby here).
Ok but what if we use a gravity fed and pps system what do we do with that air hose? Do we need to plug it or is air just going to run out of the hole?
will this work on my website
It should, where it comes from does not matter, its where it is sending the person.
Very nice setup, thank you for this! 👍
No problem 👍
Great video but what is joturl and you do what with it and how do you share the info. Sorry just seen this and it doesn't seem to have a beginner guide plus im just a slow at learning
It is a service that takes your affiliate links and makes them deep links for posting.
Those look awful...
awefully good !!!!
So based on what your saying three different items have to be bought for the Fuji....the starter kit,the adapter and the pressure cup
For this setup that is right.
thank you for the video mate! 🚀
You are welcome, feel free to share it. The service works and is simple to use.

Awesome walkthrough, very helpful!
Glad it helped! Thank you
Hi - my question is if you use the original set up as you'd assembled it initially (to spray thin acrylic for example), what's happening with all the air that is shooting out of the now redundant hose and filter? Don't you need that? Great video and thanks.
Thank you my first time changing my blades
Glad I could help
Would love to know the dimensions of that jig. Ty
Good video. I have a question about the jack screws…. If they are factory set and you are using the jointer pal, would you need to even mess with them and an Allen key ? You didn’t show the step in adjusting them. Thanks.
I reset all my jack screws. I have a precision straight edge. I placed the straight edge so it rested on the outfeed table and over the cutter head. I rotated the cutter head using the allen wrench back and forth until it just touched the blade.
Thank you… this is the video explanation I have been looking for!
Fantastic! So little info out there - this was perfect. One question - I've heard there is less to clean on the gun with the 3M system. Do you have a video on cleaning the gun after a spray session with 3M PPS?
Found it! Subscribed and liked - thank you!
Good info. Where 'down below" are the links?
Thanks mate for making this and supplying the measurements. Just what I needed. Cheers.
No problem 👍
This was an awesome demonstration. It was short, sweet, informative with zero fluff and exactly what I was looking for. Thanks.
Glad it was helpful!
Thanks for the post. When I refinished my interior stairs, I did a light sand between poly coast. I did 3 coats of poly but sanded between the 1st and 2nd coats. Is only 1 coat of poly good enough? I assume it would effect the way the board works, in that bean bags will slide the hell off more often if more poly layers are added! lol.
I would do several coats, I sprayed my finish so its hard to say how many coats you will need. Best to apply and try it out.
Hey there. For the box frame that you make. Are you using 1x3 or 1x4?
1x4. They work wel
oh hell yeah! thumbs up!
What are pros and cons to the two different cup systems? Bottom feed and gravity feed?
I have only used the gravity and I like it, with the PPS setup I can get almost all the material out of the liners, very little waste.
@@SimpleWoodShop sounds good thx for your response. I found that when I did a little auto body work the bottom feed cup would bump things
Thanks for this useful tutorial. I got the PPS system and, after watching this, realized I was doing one thing wrong. I was pouring the paint into the cup after putting on the dome. The paint has to be filtered, right? Wrong! The filter (in the PPS system) works when the paint is on its way out, not on the way in. Duh!
It's all good, we all do stuff like that.
Thanks so much for your excellent video. So it seems to me … that Using the pressure cup with included air tubing, I will still have to mix my coating in a mixing cup anyways? Didn’t see any mixing ratios on pressurized cup. I am also using Fuji gravity gun .
A separate mixing cup I mean
You will have to mix and then pour it in. The liners don’t have any indicators.
it looks like such a great system, but at ~$3 per disposable cup, Im not sure it saves anything over the filter and some wasted material :/ would be cool if you could just buy the liners. Im sure the hard plastic lid and plug could be reused far more times than the flexible liner.
I tend to wash out the liners and reuse them later one. It's pretty easy to do. Most are not $3 a liner they are really cheaper than that. They wash out very easily, another benefit is the whole thing is pretty air tight, so I can leave my sprayer and paint in the liner over night and spray the next day without any issue.
Great video! What are your thoughts on using the same spray gun with the 3M PPS 2.0 for both water-based/borne and oil-based clear coatings? There seems to be a preponderance of opinions favoring separate spray guns for oil-based and water-based. Given that the total exposure of the spray gun to the clear coat is significantly reduced with the PPS set-up, I’m thinking that, so long as you’re thorough with your cleanings you might be able to use the same gun for both. Your thoughts/experiences?
I'm sure the sprayer can do just fine swapping back and forth. I on the other hand have 7 drill and 10- router all with different bits, so i would probably buy a 2nd gun for that. But I only spray water based stuff.
One question, if the solution is in the hard plastic cup and inside the second disposable cup how does the air pressure from the unit push through the disposable cup? The disposable cup must be sealed to keep the outer cup clean to use the next stage with no mess.
You drop the liner in the hard cup, then pour your solution into the liner. Once you put in the hard cap ring and close it up it’s sealed. The air hose attaches to the hard bit and pushes the solution
Happy to know the settings. I will incorporate this on my future builds. I would say you should definitely be able to secure the screw down pretty tight. The tabletop will definitely be able to move still.
You got it.
i shouldve watched this video before i messed up my boards lol
That’s why I made it, I did the same Mistakes.
The wood is pine wood ??
Yup, select pine from Home Depot.
Thanks a ton. I may have also made the mistake laminating a multi layer guitar neck with the stain applied before glueup. I would want to stain flame maple to a certain color within the other species of wood. How would dyed poplar veneer sheets be able to glue up successfully I wonder. Things I need to know before my upcoming first guitar build.
Probably use another type of glue
Just mark and drill the hole on the leg. Put the spacer in but leg up to it and drill. Perfectly aligned.
Yup
Very informative video, thanks! I would like to use the water based exterior house stain we used on the singles of our house. Do you see any issues with that type of stain? Would it still need a coat of poly? I'm thinking the poly would make for a smoother finish.
Stain is fine. I would poly once the stain is completely dry.
Isnt it cheaper to clean the original up compared to buying liners and lids every few projects
Cheaper yes, more of a hassle yes.
Awesome video! Just what I needed to get going on my project> Thanks
Glad I could help!
Excellent explanations!

man you made this way more complicated than it is.
Cool
