I'm sorry that you felt this was useless. It's very disheartening to know that all of the time I spend making tips like this to try help people for free is seen as useless. This is why people who are kind and helpful to society just stop trying to help at a certain point. I spend hundreds of hours a year volunteering my time to teach and help people and answer questions. Multiple times in the last year, I've taken a few hours out of my day to make a custom video or get on a call to walk people through a problem and help them without asking for anything back. Are you getting any error message? most of the time this view is because you've switched to outline mode but occasionally it's because Illustrator is unable to render your file due to lack of memory. Usually a restart of Illustrator and your computer will help with this but there are some other troubleshooting steps to try here: helpx.adobe.com/ca/illustrator/kb/not-enough-memory-illustrator-cc.html Hope that helps!

It can be addicting once you start playing with pixel art! If you get into it and want to do more that doesn't need to be vector I'd recommend trying out a pixel art specific app. I love Aseprite for any non vector pixel work. Cheers! Kat

Hi Angelique, what happens when you try to change the color in the new file? Did you import the graphic styles and apply it to art in the new file or copy and paste art from the tutorial file?

@@VectorArtAcademy yes so I was able to put it into my graphic styles and be able to use it in my file but somehow now the colors when I try to change the color for another object, they both change into the new color 😭

Ah yes, that's because the Global Swatch is mapped to the styles so you need to do a little work around to make additional styles in a new color. My quick work around for this is just to copy and paste the artwork temporarily into a new document, change the global swatch to whatever color you like, then select the art with the new color and copy /paste it back into your main document. When you bring it back in you'll get the new global swatch added to your palette and you can save the new neon color to the graphic styles panel the same way we did for the original. This way you can build a file with a whole set of custom neon effects and apply different colors to different elements in your design. It's similar to this process for making thicker or thinner versions of the style th-cam.com/video/1emGE6vXG1M/w-d-xo.html but you will need that separate temp file for color change. i've tried the show and hide corner widget thing

I have an idea of how I would do this, you can look into Pattern Brushes. With those you can define corner tiles to get the right shape and then apply that brush as a stroke to the shape with the rectangle effect and that should work. Hi, sorry I would need more details to figure out what is going on. The first thing I would check is that the order of everything is correct in the Appearance panel and matches the order in the tutorial. You can also check which piece you haves elected in the Layers Panel.

Hi Camille, the first thing I would check is which selection tool you are using, the Direct Select (white arrow) is the one you can use to select individual points. Also before you start making your selection, make sure there is nothing selected either by going to the Select menu and choosing Deselect or by click on an empty area of the pasteboard. You can also check what you have currently selected by checking the Layers Panel. I hope that helps! ~ Kat
