Navy Vet here! I def subbed after watching a few of your videos. Your journey is looking amazing. I spent about 6weeks in Sasebo- the same base you were leaving I was there (2013). Do the training to become this kind of job require some kind of boot camp training ?kinda like under navy sergeants etc. Or is it just u train on a ship to learn kinda like a basic trade school one would learn? If you're on an MSC ship and it is at dock/port hooked up to shore power, do you get sea days that count towards your license upgrade? I would be frustrated being there working and not getting sea time. Sea time is everything!

17:30 MMC's are taking 3-8 months from what I'm seeing people say online. Long wait currently

18:15 is where I'm at right now. So crazy. I sold my house and moved back home with my folks so that I can be gone for the next 5ish years while starting my seaman journey. It's surreal being back here. I'm looking at it all through a different point of view knowing that I'm leaving and won't be back except to get my stuff and dip out again. I hate this place. I'm also taking a major pay cut to do the maritime stuff. Money isn't everything though. I hate my job. It is a good job, but it isn't for me. Ready to go to the sea.

I hear SIU apprenticeship is pretty good to get started. It's a pain in the ass though. I've been waiting on them since February 2024. I go to their apprenticeship in January 2025. 11 months... I had to get my affairs in order though. Now that they're in order, i'm itching to go. If I was able to go immediately back in February, there is no question I would've gone MSC. I need to get 1080 days after becoming a QMED and then I'm off to AMO for their officer program. You said it right there at the end. If you're starting out, don't be greedy, take what they give you. Glad to see ya. My mom was on some ships like that. Mannn she has some great memories. I don’t know if I mention my mom went in the MSC at 50 and stopped at 64. And she absolutely loved it. Sometimes she wish she would have stayed. Her excitement about it sparked me to give it a try. She use to always say…”If you want to see the world for free, join MSC. 😊👋🏽😂😂.
