Hail Caesar Army Building
มุมมอง 4.2Kปีที่แล้ว
In this video I demonstrate how to build an army for Hail Caesar, with the Imperial Roman list. The demonstrated Army features a mix of Core Roman Legionaries and Auxiliary Troops from their Barbarian Allies of the period. In quick summary, an Army is made up of Divisions, and Divisions typically contain a minimum of 4 units, excluding skirmisher units. I have depicted the Army as two Divisions...

Painting Romans and other Historical Models, & Applying their Decals and Basing!
มุมมอง 6Kปีที่แล้ว
In this video I show you how to paint the Romans that come in the Warlord Games, Caesars Gallic Wars Sets and the old Roman Invasion of Britain sets. In other words, Republican Romans and EIR. But this technique will work equally well in paint any historical models, from 'swords and sandals' to 'horse and musket' periods. Its a technique that will get lots of models painted up quickly to form t...

Kapiti Hobbies Shop TH-cam Channel Intro April 2022
You say it is modular but you didnt show your fantasy board in more than 1 arrangement, it looks really interesting! Would love to see you show it off in a few different ways :D
This Terrain is awesome and inspiring!
Planning to get into wargaming starting with Hail Caesar. Can armies of different eras be mixed? (For example ancient greeks vs vikings)
It can be done, but I feel would spoil the immersion if the opponents are not historically accurate.
What a great vid to have playing while I am painting minis. Good to see Roly gaming even if it was a year ago.
Great terrain!! What is the figures' size?
Very clear and precise---thank you
Really like your work on this. Have Subscribed to binge the rest of your work.
This was a very interesting and informative video with quite a few interesting tricks. I especially liked how you smoothed out the areas you scraped with the tamiya cement. Have to ask thought, are there any particular reason for why you choose to prime the miniature with a brush? Most painters now a days seem to prefer spraycans or airbrush. Also, why coat the model in a gloss varnish first and then go for a matt?
Thank you. I didnt have the spray colour can available, and my airbrush is 'temperamental'... I tend to spend more time trying to get it to work than actually using it!
I'm drawn to historical wargaming, but my specific interests lie largely in the Bronze Age stuff. Is that an obstacle?
btw, awesome builds, subscribed
where or how do you do the stairs in 6:00? thanks!
Rather belated but it looks like (and sounds like) you Gentlemen had an enjoyable afternoon. Great looking table and loads of banter😄 Many Thanks for sharing👍
one of the nicer HC tables I have seen on YT, nice report, cool armies and everything well explained!
Thanks, lots of ideas there to 'borrow'!
Superb, thank you.
Glad you liked it!
Sexy
Can you pre measure in this game?
Yes you can
Too many tongues wagging at the same time, just unneccesary
one Question: If the General orders a Command successfully, the other Commanders can't issue orders any more, right? But if the General fails to give an order, do the other Commanders still have the ability to give commands?
Once you elect to use the general, you cannot go back to your subordinate commanders afterwards. If the general fails a command then that the end of your command phase. (Though I believe he has one re-roll to use)
Generationes fortissimorum Romanorum in Elysiis rident! 😂
Really nice terrain. And quite some variation too.
Thanks a lot!
Where can i buy those 3D terrain files?
I believe theyre availave on 3dcults
wonderful video! so excited for Epic! I subbed. please consider sending one my way!
This is no good. Are there no rules that try to model ancient warfare better than this?
I love this. Hope to follow suit soon. Glad I saw your storage system before I set up my lil hobby table; I'll be sure to add that to my build.
Great video
Thank you
Unfortunate, there was no one there to talk bolt action with you. We were all out at lunch.
No worries
Sorry I missed Scott! Stoked to see my Kharadron Overlords, the East Winds Trading Company, on your channel 😍 the other armies look okaaaayy hahaha na they all look great!
Defo a great array of armies on display
You missed our big Wilderness ACW game on Saturday. It was fantastic.
Darn, I couldnt make it over Saturday.
Great overview, thanks Scott. Shame we missed you.
No worries
That was me talking your ear off at the start! Was nice to meet you dude :D
And you mate cheers
Simplemente hermoso!!! Excelente trabajo!
love to see more of this especially with the 2nd ed rules. I know your doing more Ancients atm but some Napies with the 2nd ed rules would be great to see.
Really cool 👍
Also, what size minis did y’all use?
These are '28mm'
I am new to historical table top, so this video is a good learning video for me. I love history though! So I have a question. I notice your warband for instance seem to all be in one big tray. Are they glued permanently like that? Do they always move in such large of a group or can your units be broken down into smaller groups? I’m thinking of building a Punic war scenario, but like I said, this is all new to me. Thanks for a great video!
Not the creator, but I believe they are just in a movement tray, meaning they can be taken out and used differently, just makes it easier for moving them in that formation.
Thyre on a movement tray, as we use the models for other games too where single models are at times needed, though some are also on mini multibases; 2x2
All basic scratch building techniques and an awesome result. That’s creativity and talent. Great job, my man 👍🏻
Many thanks :)
I really like your game board! Game boards are not like this in the games I play. Im pretty curious about Hail Caeser and historicals in general. I have Clash Of Spears with a few Carthage and Roman figures but nothing this scale. Big battles can be fun. This channel is awesome thanks for the content!
Thank you very much
Are you playing old rules ? I noticed the knights dont have a leader
Very cool. Are these miniatures included in the Hail Caesar box or are they Victrix or something else? I've been having a really hard time finding Roman miniatures in NZ and ended up getting resin 3d prints out of desperation.
They are warlord games own brand.
Looks so good.
Thank you 😋
Thx. Nice introduction
Thanks
were did you get the long movement trays?
Theyre home made from 3mm plastic sheet and matchsticks glued on the edges, then painted and flocked.
Probably the best rules explanation to these rules I’ve seen. Thanks for a clear presentation.
Glad it was helpful!
Don't sound so excited dude.
LOL sorry, probably British stiff upper lip and decorum and all that ;)... I find it hard to force a zany upbeat monologue, not my forte !
Great video! Just wondering how do you determine how many minis (inidividual soldiers) are in a unit? Seems like it's determined based on the size of your movement tray? But are there any hard rules that indicate how many soldiers it takes to create a unit?
For a 'standard' size unit, we work of a frontage of 8 figures with 20mm per figure. For ranks, you can go 2-3 ranks as you see fit depending on your view of what a unit should look like. Theres nothing hard and fast here its up to you. But we like 2 ranks for lights and mediums and 3 ranks for heavies. 4 ranks for warbands.
@@kapitihobbies9360 Interesting, thanks!
Hi - I enjoy you batreps as they make the game easy to understand. One question regarding Sweeping Advances - I thought this had to be made to your front quarter, or have I misunderstood that?
Yeah, Ive seen the same question answered both ways on the HC FB Forum... so I am unsure. I like the idea a unit can swing and wrap a flank, so one move to turn into charge arc, and second move to charge. But Its powerful so you may need to agree on this with your playing group.
This was very painful to watch but the models and the terrain were majestic and the players were gentlemen!
Thank you for your kind comment :)
38:29 Did someone on that left flank just fill their britches or was that just audio trouble?
LOL fair comment though I think it was an audio glitch ;)
Hey brother, I'm a bit late to the party, but there's a site called Evan Designs that sells an LED kit for fires and all kinds of other stuff. I used a different one on an AT-ST model, highly recommended.
