Thanks for stopping by. I'm a new fancier of racing homer pigeons and want to share what I learn with you. I've been searching all over the web for information and it hasn't been easy to find. I'm hoping to pull it all together into one easy place so we can all learn along the way.
My uncle had rollers when I was a kid and I loved watching him fly them. I was recently presented with the opportunity to acquire some racing homer pigeons and after a short call with my uncle decided to jump in. So far it's been a lot of fun and something for the whole family to enjoy.
I've got two pairs of old birds so I'm hoping to have some babies soon. We'll also cover feeding, care, loft construction and more. Stay tuned!

2021 Newly hatched racing homers - first babies of the year
Did you survive the pandemic and 2020? It's been so crazy we haven't uploaded or made any new videos. I'm soo sorry but we will try to get back to regular updates. Not a lot has changed. We have a few new birds and finally hatched new babies this weekend. This is just a short video to say hi and get things going again. More videos coming soon. We will race in 2022.

Obviously, we were pretty bummed that we lost the two eggs. Thankfully, there is a new egg in the loft. I imagine we should have the second tomorrow. I got a question in my comments about how I clean my pigeon loft. I know a lot of guys use screen floors but I wanted my solid wood. Hey man I have birds and looking to race
I dont think you should starve birds overnight to accomodate some "ratio" you heard about. Birds use energy really fast, eat frequently and are hungry all the time. If they leave stuff theyre getting enough. I wouldnt aim for empty feeders but just try to keep to a similar amount of leftovers every day and ALWAYS have fresh, clean water avaliable day and night. Thats from 60 years experience of nearly every species of animal (found in the UK with a couple of exceptions).

Old birds that has good racing genes can’t be re-home. Best to split coop into two sections. One for the breeders which is old birds and one for young birds you get from breeding. Anything you buy or get that has good racing genes that is 8month to 1 year old will re-home. If you let them out and they get high enough they will find there old home. Good luck

My pigeons don't like whole corn, but they will eat cracked corn. My birds are a bit picky and I'm trying to fix that, especially with a potential chick on the way, but other birds may eat the corn kernel whole.

I have four pouters and they leave exactly those same seeds from the mix. Maybe they don't like them because my pigeons don't it seems. Wonder why they don't like them as much as the others in the mix?

I'll have to do some research on that. I believe most of the calcium they get is from the grit. Maybe someone else could also give us a tip.

How long did you keep the pigeons in the loft before releasing them? I'm asking since you mentioned they were 3 years old. I just got some pigeons and wanted to try and re-loft them.
If they are over 1 year old, you wouldn't be able to release them without them trying to fly back to their own loft. I'd recommend you breed the birds and fly the babies.
