Does it work on my 2014 Camry?
Yes Camry model is coming.
I saw the guy who was doing just visual inspection and texture by robbing it between the fingers to see if it is time to change . Does cold months hurt engine more if oil is not at it best or hot months? I try to time my oil change that I have a fresh new oil in during the cold months so just about every six months. Does the season makes a difference for engine lubrication with fresh oil or oil ready to be changed?
Rubbing the oil between your fingers is not an accurate way to tell if the oil needs to be changed. All you will really gather from that is if there is debris in it. The best way to do it is to have a lab analysis done to determine where you oil is at in its life expectancy. The season can make a difference but its not a massive contributing factor unless the oil needs to be changed and the weather gets really cold. In that circumstance you could be looking at more internal wear during startup if the oil cannot flow fast enough.

How did you sync the steering wheel controls for volume up and down? I was looking through your older comments and saw that eventually got it to work

Good job. You can also break the bead on a tire using a 2x4 (or similar) placed with one end on the bead right up to the edge of the lip and then driving into the other end. If you don't have a 2x4, but you have another vehicle with enough clearance, you can just drive into the tire to break the bead. If you don't have a 2x4 or another vehicle, then you could use the brake rotor to break the bead by placing the tire underneath it and lowering the vehicle, but this could damage the tire and is a bit more dangerous, so not recommended.
Thanks a million, Hybrid Guy! You showed me just what to do!
8:37 You did the exact same wiring as I did at the cigarette lighter! 😂. I hardwired my Carpuride unit. Have a custom mount on the lid that closes off the storage compartment under the radio. Completely removable and looks stock. Power and audio wires come out of that compartment and are tucked away (and hidden) when not in use. The hidden compartment comes in handy to store the unit when it’s not needed. When I wired my Bluetooth module behind the dash I did splice wires. Looking back I could’ve done the same thing. The Vline is way to expensive for me, as I don’t need CarPlay all the time. Hence I chose for a removable unit. Carpuride makes pretty good units.
What is stock IR in each module and what is consider to be to high that should not be used back? Thanks in advance
Hey! Thanks for the questions! I’m going to do another video regarding these specifics but a good IR is 20mOhms or less a below 1 volt of voltage drop. More to come in the video. Thanks!

What is the good range for internal resistance in these NIMH batteries?

@TheHybridGuy thanks.. now, in this regard, is the internal resistance details shown by Dr. prius app correct or not?
Hi Guys, Im looking for the explanation for Prius plus, found nothing in the web, any idea?
Brilliant and very detailed. Thanks. You never mentioned what an acceptable or target internal resistance is. Like you said 1v voltage drop was the threshold.

My 2009 MFD works capacitive-wise but is very dim. Even when the light control sits at maximum. Ideas?
Great Video Peter! Really helps those of us who are trying to evaluate the options now that the time has come to replace the battery. So appreciate you sharing this!
Individual battery cells need cell balancing. Nexpower keeps trying to use the car BMS, which only manages groups of 5 cells at a time. Within every group of 5, individual cells become unbalanced, which is why nexpower batteries fail after a couple years. Please tell me I'm wrong this time. I'd buy a nexpower battery with a proper bms.
@@scottsloan4115 I’m not sure if I’m allowed to share this, but since the lithium project is in the past, I think it’s fine. NexPower has tried different circuit board designs. One was for active balancing, and another used individual cell monitoring with MOSFET current control. Both failed in extreme temperatures due to uneven lithium-ion cell degradation. We're talking about temperatures over 100°F for over three months in Arizona, with daily 10 hours of Uber driving. I know there are TH-camrs claiming to be experts (they’re not) who promote individual cell monitoring. But the truth is, if the battery cells can’t handle extreme temperatures, the battery will fail and show error codes, no matter what. This is why NexPower moved away from lithium-ion batteries and switched to sodium-ion, which are much more durable. Sodium-ion batteries have a voltage curve very similar to the stock NiMH batteries, so any issues (mostly voltage discrepancy) can easily be detected by the stock ECU.
I'd love to know what you're getting paid to promote this, because your answer literally did not address anything I said. Yes, keeping batteries within certain temperatures is important, BUT equalizing voltages with a BMS is COMPLETELY DIFFERENT. Unequal voltages mean some of the cells get overcharged accidentally. That's why some of the lithium modules he sold started fires. Just because sodium batteries are less likely to start fires when abused by overcharging doesn't mean it's healthy to do so as you claim. The battery will still have an early failure, which I know you're smart enough to understand when you don't have dollar signs in your eyes. @@TheHybridGuy
what kind of MPG can I expect with this salty battery?
@@daniele5620 it does depend on your driving habits BUT I will say I’ve seen 52mpg average in mine at speeds of 65-80 mph

pneilson@certfiedautoconsulting.com
@@TheHybridGuy thank you, I’ll email you later tonight. 👍🏼
Did you check beneath the spare tire for water intrusion? That is where my issue is.
I think it's a short life battery on prius that diminishes charge cycles with these constant small brake charging. If it was plugin usage no problem.
do you have a website where you sell prius batteries?
I don’t I try to stay local so o have better control over quality and warranty.
Any info on balancing and your tips on doing so?
What can happen if I don’t balance out every battery cell? I replace one module and there all around the same amount of volts and resistance would this affect anything?
If you do not balance chances are you will be doing the same repair in a very short amount of time. Each module should have similar amp hour rating, internal resistance and voltage drop as the others so they can all play nice on the field, so to speak.
@@TheHybridGuy The last question I have is about is on the installation of the modules new module. My battery modules voltage fluctuate between 7.67v (the minimal and it's 1 module) to the max 7.82v which is the new module and its just that one at that voltage)average voltage is 7.76v and my resistance is the lowest 4.88m the average is 4.90 and the max 5.43 (which is the new module). I've seen that before re-installation a lot of mechanics do the step of discharge and recharge on every single module before reinstalling the battery back on. I don't have the machine right now to recharge and discharge The modules. Would this cause a problem or suggest just ordering the machine and this extra step.
@@Luisjun91 doing each one individually can work but doing them as a whole pack yields better results in my experience.
If you charge and discharge the modules connected altogether, how do you know what capacity each of the cells have? Isn't it important to know on the individual cell, if it has 60 or 80% final capacity before it is mounted with other cells? We know that the battery is as strong as its weakest cell, right?
@@gerynios I didn’t did it by putting them all together. I bought a module charger in this charger and did it 4 at a time. After all of them got charge I re-ordered them put in my strongest modules in the middle and my weakest ones on the outside then I balance them all out with a wire and put them all in order all positive in one side and all negative at the other side in the end you have to re-order them as it comes in the pack one positive and one negative.
Seems like you skipped how to do IR and VDrop in this video, do u have any videos please.
Hi i have subscribed your channel, not sure how i missed it. few questions. i have 2017 toyota highlander that has 30 modules with 8 celll in each module totalling 9.6 volt (8 times 1.2).. how much voltage drop is allowed and how much load you apply and for how long? wht is the lowest value u like to see. what is the spec for internal resistance? I assume if we put a load of 6 amp per module for about 5 minutes, we dont want to see less than 9.6 volt and also dont want to see more than .4 volt difference across all modules.. is that a safe test.
