    I feel like is better to use in the morning. Especially when shining red light close to the face. If doing it at night, body might think it is morning since strong red light energy emit to the body and may confuse the internal clock? Even not shining red light closer to face, let’s say shining to ankle, but our cell have internal clock too (that’s what I heard), so might still confuse the body? Just my guess.

    • @mychondria
      @mychondria วันที่ผ่านมา

      @@SoulEscalator that’s a great question, and worthy of some future video content 🙌🏼 While we have to be careful with other wavelengths of light (especially blue/green), the human body has evolved with some “sleep immunity” to red and infrared. At night, it would be possible for us to be exposed to these wavelengths, either by a fire, or even general heat (which is infrared light). There’s also been clinical studies where they used red light therapy in the evening, and see significant increases in melatonin (sleep hormone). You can see this here: www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC3499892/ With that said, regardless of the color, some people find a bright light aimed at their face quite “mentally stimulating”, so I always say don’t aim at your face within an hour of the time you plan on going to sleep.

    Oral (fast dissolve) melatonin is effective for me… Is that overkill? I’ve been doing red light therapy in the gym in the morning 10 minutes- 8 full panels, 4 on each wall, and I stand between the two walls…About 2 hours after I use it I do feel I need another cup of coffee…

So to wear them, doesn’t improve the under eye bags. My question is, can I just ignore wearing the goggles, so the red light is able to treat the under eye bags? Your advice is very appreciated. exposing yourself to sunlight does the same thing as red light therapy, correct?

      To a lesser degree. Sunlight involves full spectrum light, so it doesn't have the same concentration of the "mitochondrial stimulating wavelengths". • @mychondria
      @mychondria 23 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Great question! I don’t personally, as the light dose at these distances, for 3 minutes is still quite low (I always view the study protocols as “minimum” times, rather than an exact figure to hit). With that said, I never stare directly at the light, and when it’s on my face I’ll close my eyes.

      Check your light nm's. How many nm's is it? Is it just red light or does it also have laser/nir etc? Different lights do different things along with depth the lights can reach. Strength is important along with types of lights. I made certain my device had at least 650nm red light and 850 nm laser/NIR etc lights as these seem to be the best, in my research, to be in the "therapeutic window" to penetrate and be beneficial. I do not think I could have found anything at the $100 price range to get that. Also, I have found doing it for long periods often can give a more negative result than a positive result. Main thing, look at your device specifications and see if it is total red lights or if it has laser/NIR etc lights as well. THIS is important. Then the next most important is IMHO, how many nm's are the lights. My unit is so powerful, I had to start out very slowly at 5 minutes every other day and build my way up. I am now at 5 minutes daily. I thought at first mine was not going to work but I was getting results and did not realize it. This is not usually a quick fix if you have extensive problems. Types of lights, nm's of light and time.........

    So take my anecdotal experience as an _N_ of one. I have a full length combined red/near infrared panel with I think 4 different wavelengths. I turn them all on. When I first started using it for 10 minute sessions I used the provided protective goggles. After a week, out of curiosity I removed the goggles but but kept eyes closed. There was a distinct sparkly fireworks like pattern during the exposure. The next day, seeking to duplicate the experience, I repeated the eyes-closed exposure. No fireworks then or since, just a dull red blur as when looking at any bright light with eyes closed. I can't say if I did any damage. I would need to have my eyes examined to be sure. But I am not suffering any apparent negative reaction. However, If I could do it all over again I would not try it without googles.

    Lots of confusing and conflicting information and advice regarding Red and NIR Therapy and eye protection. The medical/scientific studies done and referred to and quoted used a "torch" (red led flashlight) with a 670nm wavelength at a distance of 3 inches "with no eye protection" within 2 hours of waking for 3 minutes at a suggested frequency of 1-2 times a week. Information is a little murkier when adding NIR around 850nm. If not staring directly at the light and it's a distance of 6 inches or more it's suggested that it should be safe noting that most sessions even with NIR for face, joints, etc. need not or shouldn't last more than 10 minutes at 3x a week. I brought the subject up with my ophthalmologist after my cataract surgeries and she didn't seem to be concerned about what I've just mentioned although I remain cautious and still somewhat concerned. I did buy and use a precise version of the led red light flashlight with a built in 3" spacer just a few times but have been too afraid to continue using at the specified distance/time with eyes open or closed. No damage I can tell so far from the few experiments. I am still using a combo 670nm and 850nm red led flood light for my face, scalp and joints and do use eye protection for only the face sessions as a precaution.

    • @mychondria

      It’s more that it prepares melanin to protect you from UV light later. UV light is still necessary to tan/get darker. Eye protection is only neccasary if you are quite light sensitive. I close my eyes when treating my face, and when targeting other areas of my body I keep my eyes open, as red light therapy is good for your eyes in the right dose.

    Red light is better for surface issues like skin, infrared is better for deep penetration like organs, joints etc. infrared definitely help s my chronic illnesses and chronic pain.
