@@saltybuckets290 yes it true - you know to be honest, I never really wear them myself, but a more often than not when we would put together looks for RL - they were always the first sneakers Ralph would ask for…I think the style of those guys kinda predates a lot of modern sneakers so they really kind of give a clean, vintage vibe to classic looks. Usually either white or navy tends to be what you would see the most in old pictures - sometimes you’d even see guys wear them with high waisted trousers or especially old tennis looks. They always kinda remind me of Howard Hughes style…

@@SomeNotesonStyle that's a very interesting insight on how Ralph would ask for them. A bit off topic, but did you directly help design for Ralph Lauren back when he was really at the helm of the company?

@@saltybuckets290 well I was there not too long ago from 2008-2017, so technically he had another CEO, etc. but believe it or not he would meet with us several times a week and that man came to work every day like everyone else! With Polo, we would work with John Wrajez as men’s design VP and then he would present to Ralph. But for Purple Label, Ralph would hand pick every fabric and detail himself! I’m sure back in the day he would do that for every brand - but he would still look over everything we did! He would kind of lisp/whisper - it felt like you were taking to the godfather! 😂

All indigo? No TRUE Navy??? And so far also forgot the classic blazer that I didn't see in episode 1 among other things like wool turtleneck. Like I said, nuances skipped or something. A lot of fishermen intentionally DON'T dress nautical these days, I guess, either. More's the pity.

@@Highland_Paddy okay okay - you got me there! It’s true, an all navy/indigo vibe is right on the money! And the way they can weather down is unmatched. Maybe I should follow up with a more winter appropriate version and cover some of these points for a true fowl weather, really rugged version. I mean I get it if not everyone wants to dress like an old deckhand, and maybe the Italians are a little too slick, but it is surprising that even if people want to dress a little edgier that they don’t even take a few hints from this rich language of beach & ocean kinda heritage! Sounds like we’ll have to kick the trends!

Most the Irish sweaters sold today won't be as thick or have the uncured wool with the water-repellent oils intact, but the merino ones are way less itchy than a lot of others.

I’ve bought a few “authentic” Irish sweaters and they’re not too shabby themselves, can’t imagine how heavy the real ones were! LL Bean has been annoying me lately with their only trim fit shirings offered, and some others might have better khakis for the price than the $200 ones.........

I will pretty much skip the loafers.

oh, ye finally got corduroy trousers in there, but also don't forget the cord sport jacket possibly.

I still prefer blue trousers to tan for some pairings.

Maybe a little redundant if you were just going to do the capsule idea without allowing for multiple sweaters in the intro or whatever. I mean, a capsule would only be the one grey one, right? Here we can have green and red and a blue one with a logo on it, too. Yay.

And I always would drool over Kamakura shirts when they used to have a shop in NYC - they always had the best collars!
