Good Sunday morning Joseph..impressive video ..i enjoy wearing linen...4 example a few Sundays pass in church i had on a tan seersucker suit brown linen dress shirt. Always in tie..pocket square yes...now 4 the shock!!!!😊😊😊😊..my dress shirts 4 summer are always short sleeve..i want 2 embrace the hot weather😊😊😊😊😊😊....now on 2 fall..peace
Hello Kenneth! Sorry for the late reply. 😂😂😂 You're really cracking me up with those shocking short sleeve shirts! Well, I can honestly say you're definetly making up the difference with the rest of that fantastic outfit - bravo! But seriously, nothing wrong with any tricks to keep you cool in the heat - actually a pretty genius move, my friend!
Thank you for this great linen video. I have three linen shirts, one linen pants and a cotton-linen sports coat. It is really a treat to wear linen during extremely hot summer days. I do shy away from complete linen suits. They look great for 10 minutes and after that, as you had slept in it. It gets too wrinkly for my taste. You won a new subscriber. Keep the great content coming.
Thank you for watching! I’m sorry for a delayed reply. Sounds like a perfectly well balanced linen collection you’ve acquired. I couldn’t agree more with you, linen jackets do have a nice quality for those easy summer days, and I usually can get away with wearing the shirts and trousers for a longer stretch of time. But yes linen suits are quite a challenge. I heard recently that tailors can sometimes use a heavy weight linen to help with the wrinkling (never experienced myself) but I wonder if that would cut down on the lightness and breathability? But at any rate, a wonderful material to mix in to a well rounded wardrobe! Thanks again for watching!
I also like to wear linen in the winter under a sweater. Some people say it’s only for summer, but traditionally it was worn in countries like Ireland all year round before cotton shirts were common.
You know, that funny you say that - I'm actually wearing the same combo as we speak! That's such a great concept with regard to year round Irish linen shirting - that makes so much sense! I suppose they traditionally have grown more linen than cotton there, so why not? It is funny that we're always taught you can't wear linen past the summer, but you're right - there's really no reason for those "rules"!
@@SomeNotesonStyle Traditionally shirts were seen as underwear underwear and not as much insulation. Studies show linen actually has more insulation than cotton but often because of the weave doesn’t block much wind.
@@arthurcatalanotto1151 it’s very true - I feel like it’s seen little more often recently, but still seems tough to convince a lot of guys. I’ve gotten so spoiled by it, that I’ve tried to throw in my jeans a couple times this summer and only made it an hour before I was grabbing for my linen pants again! Thanks for subscribing, bud!
Living in AZ Linen is definitely a must so thanks a lot for the insight. Being a man in my middle 30's it's very important to dress decently most of the time so I've been upgrading my style. I'm still searching for a White option that isn't see through though so let me know if there are any worthwhile brands that you haven't mentioned otherwise I'll just browse at the Thrift store.
I too find myself wearing my linens later and later into the year these days, same thing applies where I am in Texas! And I agree with you as well about dressing well as you mature, it really all seems to make sense when the details and the proportions really help to frame out your figure as you begin to age (as I really learning now in my 40s!) As for that white issue - that is yet another true fact, white linen can be a dangerous game if it's too lightweight. I once bought pants a Zara that used a neat trick - they put tan colored pocket bags on the knuckle side and white on the inside, and it did actually camouflage the pocket bags a bit! But no, I haven't yet found a brand that consistantly makes a white linen pants without a chance of transparency. I've also found that cotton-linen blends do also help out with that transparency , since they're usually more like a twill weave rather than a plainweave, and usually slightly heavier but still breathable...
Joseph: I am a big fan of linen, I have several linen button up shirts, a linen sports jacket and I have had linen beach pants for 10 years. I just bought a pair of cream coloured linen/ cotton pants and I am looking forward to wearing them, with my astorflex travel loafers a blue linen button up shirt and of course some Floris, Bergamotto di Positano. In summer, linen is your friend. Thanks for sharing your thoughts.
@@rogercurrie Hey Roger - nice to meet ya! Sounds like you’ve got a great rotation of pieces keeping you cool! Glad to hear you picked up those cream linen cottons - I got a pair myself and I wear ‘em so much I really have to force myself to rotate into other pairs of pants every other day! Thanks for that note about the Floris Bergamotto di Positano - that looks like a really fine summer scent - I’ve never tried myself, but I do think I’ll try out a small bottle. I can just picture what a fine summer evening that will be!
