Wow. Everything in the “review” is the exact opposite of my experience every time I visit the area. Maybe somebody should explain to this person the concept of getting back what you put out there.
I lived there from 96 to 98. I was a bartender at The Gold Rush. Crazy times!! The smell he’s talking comes from Gilroy Garlic Factorys when the winds come down from the the north and to to ocean. I can’t believe this guy doesn’t know that. Maybe he should take a trip to Gilroy. He’ll find the same smell there.
I live in Las Vegas , but if I had a choice of living anywhere ,I would choose Monterrey, ca..
Been there , done that , it is all about the money . Local government ? " tourist trap " , not that much . Good people , some . The tourists , WOW, not in a good way . Exspensive yes , otherwise a decent place . The original (?) capital of California . Yes or no , yes .
Hi Andy thank you nice home 🏠
@@Judy446 thank you Judy. I love how you always pop up on my videos with a compliment. You’re my #1 fan 🫶
oh yeah, tons of fish and shellfish along the sea... i wish the Indians still ran the place.
LOL
america is doomed. cheers! i went to school on hwy 68 in 81-83. better times back then. should have bought some real estate when i was thirteen. oh well.... if the power goes out and the banks turn off your funny money and they roll out another zombie corona scam you can always eat ground squirrels and leach some acorn meal if you got water. i love the areas on all sides of the santa lucias... adios!
It's a dangerous place to live. Gangs, drugs, big homeless problem. Shootings almost everyday.
Back in the 70s they had a drive in movie theater that would get so fogged in you couldn't see the screen. $7 car
Nope...Tene Shake is and always will be the best Realtor on the entire Monterey Peninsula 🎉🎉🎉
You walked around Marina on a rare sunny day. Seaside + 3 points easy.
@@UncleShaggy831 haha
I live about 1 hour 33 min from Salinas… would NEVER live there or suggest to anyone to move there.
in monterey its not what you kno...its WHO U KNO???A Bunch of spoiled entitled wealthy bratty ITALIANS>>>>OH & OLDER PEOPLE WHO LOV GOLF.....thats the just of it. ps im in my 50s born & raised here in MONTEREY
What's with vulgur language? Blocking you
Hi Andy nice video
Thank you Judy. Hope you’re well love
Monterey is for Lovers 😮
Wow I haven’t been to California in a while… their accent has really changed!
@@ristube3319 haha 🇬🇧
More unaffordable areas... Fantastic
I can see why this person is saying these things. I was just there last week, and I will say the people watching is very good. It's not the locals, its the tourist that are a bit odd to watch. Most of them over weight , blue hair, nose hoops, and probably anti-republican. Monterey attracts that crowd. I lived in Santa Barbara for years and the level of service is way better than any restaurant I have attended in Monterey. It is however much better than the restaurant oasis of Santa Cruz. With the way the economy is going, I don't see restaurants surviving, especially with the prices of food, and the cost to employ people. I would say its a great day trip, and great aquarium, a few good restaurants, nice place to live if you are retired and have money. Our saying in SB was, a town for the "newly wed and the nearly dead". Now its "a place where old people visit their parents". I.E they are waiting for their inheritance.
Wait, LOOK! Time stamp 2:16, as you are viewing him, the fence on the right is new and the fence on the left is old and swabby. Is this an omen?
Great little restaurant there called Bear + Flag, excellent sandwiches.
Why even bother to respond to his opinion ?
How bout this… NO TRAFFIC, NO LONG RIDICULOUS WAITING IN LINES AT THE GROCERY STORES…among many other positives…pretty friggin sweet 😀
Too bad the government itself won’t do the same kind of maintenance or management.
They are tired of dealing with tourists and just want to enjoy life in peace ?
Someone told me recently that people hate Monterey because everyone is so laid-back. Everybody has an opinion.
Good weather too!
I've been living here for 24 years. I love it. But keep telling people how awful it is - I can enjoy it without crowds! 😂
@@petermathews2915 lol 😆
I love here and it’s amazing
I actual think Santa Cruz is far worse with the violent entitled drug addicts "homeless"
I would say the pros are obvious. The cons: Mountain lions in the city, crooked police, mixed weather more cold than hot. No Walmart. I'm without a house so cost of living doesn't matter. No car so traffic isn't a problem.
That Barry Tea is making you Ditzy, Buggah. It doesn't reach 100 degrees in September or October. Drink Guiness for a change.
If Monterey sucks so much, then why do so many Hollywood celebrities love coming or visiting here? Taylor Swift, her boyfriend, Bradley Cooper & his girlfriend Gigi Hadid was recently spotted here having lunch or dinner all together at a French Restaurant in Carmel. Keanu Reeves was spotted at a Starbucks somewhere in Monterey Bay area a few months ago. Brad Pitt owns a mansion on a cliff in Carmel. But I don’t know if he still owns it or sold it. Clint Eastwood has been living in Carmel for over a decade I think. He owns an estate. Many Hollywood movie script writers live in or around Monterey, Carmel or Pebble Beach because they say they find it relaxing to live here, & it helps them with their script writing.
Low crime great location very high price
It's a SPEED TRAP, Local del Rey Oaks cops are nothing more than ROAD PIRATES extorting cash from unsuspecting drivers, to pay for their BROKE ASS CITY'S bills. Avoid it like the plague
Don’t forget Car Week with all the auctions and classic car tours that happen every year.
Wow seems like it would be all cons starting an ending with California... Monterey is a beautiful place to visit what's the high price of admission seems like too steep a price to pay
please stop using the gun gesture in your videos--this is hostile in and of itself
I did find the locals usually disrespectful of visitors, especially on the paths. Problem is they've combined pedestrians with bicyclists, and most of the bicyclists are angry old men. Several nearly ran me over and cussed at me and my wife, and at a young family in front of us. Not a good vibe. The shops on the pier @ the wharf are overpriced tourist traps selling stuff made in China
liar full of gang and violenceeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee
We just took our kids, we are from a small town in Northern California. I was surprised to see the amount of rude people, no one says hello or excuse me. They are rude and snobby, maybe they want that so people don't go back, we won't be. One beach we went to was nasty, the water along the shore had green bloom. Two beaches we did see had dead seals and a dead walrus and it smells so bad we couldn't enjoy the rest of the beach the kids wanted to see. There may not be homelessness in Carmel because there is a huge amount Monterey. There was a homeless man beating his head at the Warf, smelled packed and Candy store, overpriced! Food sucked, felt like a Gorden Ramsey moment.
you should rethink "The British Agent" thang. We hear your voice, dude. We know where you're from.
if you could get your blue sunglasses to talk you could be on da beach
I've lived here in Monterey since 1999 and still love it. Disagree with the disgruntled review, but perhaps things get a wee bit uglier when the man writing the bad review comes into town. Projection.......
Weird. Everyone i have dealt with here has been really nice!
I loved Monterey. We’re not hostile, I’ve been here for almost a decade now. People of Monterey are friendly like me.
Don't forget Castroville in regards to fog, they have it just as bad as Marina.
The beauty of both communities are that they are only 5 minutes apart so I as a Marina resident can enjoy Seaside (and Monterey/PG/Carmel for that matter) any time I wish.
Good presentation, fantastic area to be. A big downside to CV are water issues.
swarming with millennials and depressing
