These were some of the best Jaguars made. We have 2, a VDP and an XJR and both are awesome. The biggest problem is finding parts. The engine-transmission combination is so powerful and smooth to drive.

Disagree, got the little 3,2 V8 232000km and is running like new. XJR owners of my jag club are saying the same. Even if you drive a Toyota (my daily) a car need to be maintained and cared. Maybe jags are not your thing. Buy a Prius, you will never be disappointed if your concern is cost efficiency and reliability 😂

There’s basically nothing on that chassis that doesn’t get wrecked by doing that. From the center muffler at the back, the fuel tanks where the fork tips are, to the thin tube multi link suspension members. Bummer. That was a clean shell.

I did that by myself. Rounded off 2 extensions and 1 ½" breaker bar. But that crank bolt came off after going from 3 o'clock to 7 o'clock all the way around

Milwaukee impact gun and you'd be sorted.

Those things are torque to 200 lb-ft. Over time it gets harder for them to be removed. Long impact rated 1/2 extension, a jack stand for the extension to rest on, 3ft breaker bar and just put your weight on it by stepping on it.

I have been called out literally only to take off this bolt for people 😂 the civics too

Right tool for the right job

Next time use the breaker bar up against either the suspension or preferably the ground and use the starter by turning the key for just a second. I suggest removing the coil or fuel pump fuze so it doesn't start up 😂 but this has worked hundreds of times and ive nevee broken a tool or damaged a car with this method.

You don't need anything you used or anything that anyone is suggesting all you need is a GOOD 1/2 inch drive impact it will come right off i can take any of those crank bolts in less then 30 seconds with my matco 1/2 inch drive impact

Get an induction heater,get the bolt red hot,and then you will be able to lose it much easier...

It is the way.

Those pulleys are notorious for being hard to break loose. You also loose a lot of torque thru extensions.

How you got it is pretty much how you do it, you need to buy a 6ft section of 1 inch pipe to use as your helper, then you could have had the job done in around 20-30 seconds.

Applying heat would have saved you do much time.

Get a torch and a heavy socket with a decent 1/2in (I use the 3/4 in Hondas 😂) they have that giant crows foot thing to hold the balancer but it is only sized for the OEM balancer if you have or put an aftermarket balancer then the tool at Oreillys’s might be to big for it which is dumb because they don’t carry a smaller one…
