What are you talking about? Easy to work on compared to modern cars. Lots of used parts cheap online. The gearbox is MB amg and very strong and reliable. Mine got 240000 km on the clock. The insurance cost is low. All older cars require maintenance but compared with equivalent German cars is it definitely cheaper to drive. You can buy a good XJR for less than I paid maintenance last year for my Porsche!

Have an 81 touring wagon auto, 2 door 80 leone coupe converted to 4wd EA81 running gear 4sp, 87 Vortex XT fwd, Brumby (Brat), 89 L series touring wagon (2 of (auto & manual), and 91 legacy sedan.... currently only the Brat is my now daily driver...the others are waiting for some TLC...I love them all for their classic shapes/styling Sure they're not powerful engines, yet hell they're fun to drive... people notice you too when out and about, especially previous Subie owners...they like to reminisce the good ol days of having one

Soak in KROIL overnight. Wake up, put it together, start the car and let it run for 10 mimutes. Turn off the car, pull everything apart ASAP and get the plugs out.

Those little brass insert bastards will strip out in there hole. Then you have to melt them out and glue them back in. A real nightmare on these engines

wrong lol. The unreliable ones were the prior model with the rectangular headlights. Those are perfectly good cars, you only want to be extra careful with the 4.0 liter engines. If those were driven with petrol, that had sulfur in it it could damage the cilinder liner and the engine would lose compression. But they also came with a 4.2 liter engine that didnt have that issue, plus they dont put sulfur in fuels anymore, so if you find a good one you can just keep on driving it
