This might be the most boring fighter or even fighting style. A set of lady punches to the upperbody, some half ass low kicks, and suddenly an amazingly times and performed kick to the head. This won’t fly when fighting with any other discipline though…😅

ゲーリーも、グラウべも選手として本当にお疲れ様でした。今でも感動します。 どんなに才能に恵まれた選手でも、結果を出すために何年も忍耐が必要なんですね。

Hey guys. Great episode. Just found this from the Kyokushin subreddit. I have been surrounded by Kyokushin my whole life with my father, Shihan Brad Gillespie, running the branch here in Calgary, Alberta, Canada with over 200 students! I wouldn't be surprised if him and Chris had crossed paths before at some US tournaments. It was interesting hearing the brief remarks made about the Kyokushin landscape up here in Canada, to the best of my knowledge your comments were quite accurate with regards to how things have been up here. Our one competitor, Chrysat Allogho, is a smaller, rather acrobatic fighter who is usually fun to watch in our national tournaments. He does look to be matched up with a rather similar fighter in terms of height and weight so it could be one worth watching for you guys. Team North America isn't totally USA! lol. I believe the person Chris may have met is Daymon (close the Daniel) Miller who actually runs the Banff dojo in the scenic rocky mountains here in Alberta, my family has known him and his family for years and have run into him at several tournaments, events, camps, etc. A very cool guy. I saw him a couple months ago. I along with my family will also be heading to Japan for the upcoming world tournament so I have been doing my own research on the competitors to make watching the tournament more interesting. This so far has only consisted of noting the tournament results over the years for each fighter I could find. This has been helpful, but I found myself lacking info on who these guys really are outside of their tournament results. This podcast really helped shed light on some of the fighters so thank you for that! I'm excited to head back to Japan. Last time I went was in April 2017 when I was 16 and competed in the International Friendship Tournament. I would love to see an episode/series giving a crash course or sort of an intro guide to the current Kyokushin scene and how to start following it for people who are new (like me!). Things like: the main organizations, the important tournaments, the heavy hitters/top ranked guys in each org and what they're all about, important recent history (for instance what are the "Aces" of the All Japans? What does that mean?), where to look to follow the scene (accounts? livestreams? blogs?), unwritten rules (I found your comments about Japanese winners and almost guaranteed extensions in finals very interesting), etc. I had no idea there was a community of people following the scene this closely and I'm excited to listen back through your episodes. Although i have quit training karate (for now), I could definitely see myself taking up following the scene as a hobby now that I know there are others doing it too. I look forward to the tournament and following along with your analysis on Twitter. I'm also excited to hear your post-tournament analysis. Thanks again and cheers! OSU!
