How do you attach the artwork to the linen?
@@CynthiaHuff-g6d I stitch each piece in place as I build the picture.
Lovethis!
LOVE the pin fence posts! What a cool idea. Gonna try that. Ty!😊❤
Thank you. I use small nails sometimes too.
what about the permanence of the fabric? Is the glue archival? Thank you.
Yes it is.
@CelticBearWoman yes the glue is archival and it is possible to remove the artwork from the adhesive board should the need arise.
Great explanation. Thank you 🙂
You are welcome!
What do you use to stick the leaves and petals down with? Fabric glue stick?
I use a temporary fabric adhesive spray called 505
Thank you for sharing..
You're welcome
Oooo thank you sooo much for this tutorial❤. I have not found such a clear explanation of materials and supplies before. I'm ready to start now😅😅
I so glad to hear that you have found it so useful.
Fun video! Only suggestion is wearing a mask while using an aerosol to protect your lungs!
Yes that is certainly an option, particularly if you suffer from any breathing problems such as asthma.
Do you recommend the same method for a very large textile? I have one that is about 70 x 30.?
Yes I have used the same techniuq for pieces similar to the size of yours and it has been fine.
Hello! I have just found your wonderful tutorials and they are all incredibly helpful and stunning work! Please can you tell me what the base fabric is that you use please? Thank you 😊
Yes of coures. I use a fine firm tarlatan scrim which you can but by the meter in my Etsy shop. Here is the link www.etsy.com/uk/listing/945746410/fine-stiff-tarlatan-scrim?click_key=5404f1cdd175e642eceb6c23d1a0b500a4be58f0%3A945746410&click_sum=69f6c95c&ref=shop_home_active_1&crt=1&sts=1
love this artwork but i do wish you would show the finished piece straight on instead of sideways
Alison may I ask what you use for the backing and do you sell it thank you
Hello, I use fine firm tarlatan scrim which you can buy from my Etsy shop. Here is the link www.etsy.com/uk/listing/945746410/fine-stiff-tarlatan-scrim?click_key=5404f1cdd175e642eceb6c23d1a0b500a4be58f0%3A945746410&click_sum=69f6c95c&ref=shop_home_active_1&crt=1&sts=1
Is it possible to just glue the textile on instead of sewing ?
Yes you can. you would need to use a strong glue to make sure they don't peel off over time
What is the best sewing machine for this type of work? I love working with fabric and usually hand stitch…
I have always used a basic Janome, but you can adapt most sewing machine to do this.
So useful , can I use the button n my machine for this method or is it better to use the foot pedal. Thank you for a great tutorial
You can use the button on your machine, but I prefer to use the foot peddle as it gives me more control.
Beautiful ❤️
Hey Alison, Could you tell me what model of machine you use please? Many thanks in advance. Alison 🙌
I use a Janome 360DC and find it works really well for me. Janome in general are good for free motion sewing.
I love your videos. How do you get all these little fabric scraps? I mean do you go to the store and just buy little pieces of yardage?
I get them from all over really. I often get given fabric when people are destashing, but I also go to scrap stores, charity shops, vintage fairs and also the end of line bins at the fabric store.
Hi, what spray do you use to secure fabrics? 🤔😊
Hi There, I use 505 temporary fabric adhesive. it is widely available including on Amazon and Ebay.
Sorry, what is a taw?
I love your work, and am really enjoying your videos. I have found that it helps me if I extend the drawn lines to the edges of your tarleton. Then I can always identify where the drawn box area is. Thanks for being so inspirational! 👏👏👏
Thank You for This
This is awesome ! Thankyou
❤
love your art works. Is there another name for Tarleton scrim?
Absolutely stunning. I re-watch your videos over and over again! Love, Chin... South Africa
Thank you. Can’t wait to give it a go!
Excellent clear video. I have a Janome too so have subscribed and will follow. Please could you email the name of the thread you suggested for the bobbin fill.
Hello Barbara, I use Brothread
Thankyou for your video. If you stick the fabric, do you need to machine it as well?
Hello Linda, yes you do as it is only a temporary adhesive.
6:11 am Friday - I am so excited just set up my machine with out the foot and it works❤. I have my list and heading to the fabric store to get me a pedal and cord:)
Excellent tutorial. I have been looking for a short tutorial with all the information needed to set my machine and get started with freemotion embroidery.
I have this particular Janome, so I will definitely use this tutorial. Thanks for sharing, and God bless you.
Do you still sell these kits? They’re lovely!
I just found you. I am inspired. I live in Florida about a mile from the beach. I wish I could send you some of the 1000s of shark's teeth of beiges to dark I've collected. I'm not sure if you would want some, or about shipping to UK. I'll add some to my seascapes.
This is helpful. Thank you so much.
Hi thanks for this wonderful explanation, I was wondering, why do you need the pull the bobbin thread up to the top?
So you don’t get a tangled nest of thread underneath.
Fine teacher!
Très joli❤️
Thank you, also helps to have a Janome ! I've owned 22 sewing machines (1 x Toyota, 1 x Juki, 1 x Brother, 3 x Janome (my present machine Janome MC7700) the rest Singers, of which 2 are still in use.)
Do you wish to give sewing materials to the N. India Mission? I have a Facebook contact that's started a group of 8 Women, who study the Sunday Gospel, and learn how to sew. The are looking to expand their Ministry.
Thank you! Great instruction. I’ve never used a machine and I’m going to start free motion sewing bits for my paintings
❤❤
Thank you! This was so clear and each step explained so well. I feel confident that I can do this now.
Thank you for your tutorial!
I love your technique and style. I am going to give you a 'shout out' on my channel. love it!
This is my first time watching your channel and am so glad I found it Love this design. Thank you for sharing. x
Thank you
Thank you for sharing this info. Will be trying free motion stitching soon. You made it look easy and lots of great info! ❤👏🏻
thank you so much for sharing
Thank you! This was the best explanation I have found anywhere. I think where I have gone wrong before was not understanding the difference between speed on the foot petal and speed with the movement of the hands. Can’t wait to give it another go and Inlove your work!
